  1. Whaat? That was fast! https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cassie-ventura-sean-diddy-combs-settlement-lawsuit-alleging-abuse-rape/
  2. A good refresher Errol I figured it was the press release that put it out there. I only recall because of a funny anecdote that Colleen Zenk told about taking over the role and basically spending the first few episodes going around apologizing for what the character had done under a different actress. I guess even then the character had started to become something of a troublemaker.
  3. And it likely happened because he probably observed Margaret Reed and Michael Swan as a couple. Of course, by the time he paired Shannon and Duncan together, the real life couple had already broken up. As good as Margaret Reed was in the role, I still had a hard time seeing what Shannon truly saw in Duncan and his ridiculous personal history. I could see what Barbara might have seen in Duncan, an air of mystery similar to her ex husband James but Shannon originally didn’t seem the type that would want to go chasing after someone with such a fixation on maintaining an obvious lack of transparency.
  4. Colleen is marvelous but I don’t think she originated the role of Barbara Ryan on ATWT, did she? Weren’t there a couple of actresses who were in the role before her? Obviously she was the most memorable actress to play the character and the longest running one.
  5. I know some people thought Brian was too straight-laced for her but I enjoyed the contrast at times and Brian would sometimes become fiery when he thought anyone was trying to get between he and Shannon (which of course, is eventually what happened). But Shannon was the living embodiment of “quirky” before the trait became an actual thing.
  6. Absolutely. I remember that episode too. They had to go from Harlem to Junior’s which is in downtown Brooklyn, all for his cheesecake, a lengthy journey by subway, let alone on foot. Just insane and sadistic. Back then, one got a sense that in the late 90s to the early part of the 00s, those Bad Boy folks really thought they ran things.
  7. Mase certainly didn’t take that deal. It makes me wonder how many artists actually took the deal, if any. I imagine that he had little need to buy the silence of most of the male artists, unless they were witnesses to some incident, but the no disparaging comments aspect would probably interest Combs with the male artists as well as the female artists. I am curious though, as to how many former artists took that deal. Sadly, nothing surprises me about the depravity of the alleged behavior of these so-called titans of the music industry. I had been warned by some women who had shifted out of the music industry into other aspects of the entertainment industry, that some of the things that went on in the music industry were revolting. You know it’s bad when women are fleeing the music industry to “escape” to the film industry. Honestly, I don’t know much about Cassie as I stopped listening to mainstream R&B music about 15 years ago, but I do remember that I couldn’t make it through watching Making The Band because I got the distinct impression that Combs enjoyed humiliating the aspiring musicians on that show. It’s not a giant leap from smaller but persistent humiliations to big ones.
  8. To say that these allegations being made by the singer Cassie against Sean Combs are serious would be a massive understatement. A few months ago when the news was released that Combs had finally returned the masters of many of the songs that he had been holding the rights to back to the original artists, a few people speculated that some damaging revelations about him were likely soon to come out. That statement stuck in the back of my mind for some time and now it seems quite prescient.
  9. This ethics report on George Santos is wild! Using campaign funds for OnlyFans?!
  10. ‘Truth Social’ losing millions of dollars. Ha. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trumps-truth-social-site-lost-73-million-launched-2022-filing-shows-rcna125086
  11. This! And I haven’t watched this show in years but I have felt that was a mistake, much like changing Lily’s paternity on Y&R. Things that never made sense to me.
  12. Someone on SM alluded to a connection between the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike and actors going back to work and Tim Scott revealing that he had a girlfriend.
  13. It’s really too bad that there are so few episodes from 1985 on YouTube. It would be so much easier to piece these events and story plots together if we had the benefit of seeing the episodes again.
  14. So let me guess, is this Claire some sort of long lost daughter of Veronica Landers or something?
  15. Oh, I see. John was probably suspicious of Lisa as well then. Man, that storyline started out in such a meandering way. Remember the promo featuring Barbara blowing the rape whistle? Or was that a different year? I think that may have been somehow thought of as being tied to the stalking story too?
  16. Thanks for finding and sharing this. I went to Nitter so I could see the entire thread. In some ways, it’s sort of what I alluded to in my previous post but this really fleshes out the concerns beyond what I even mentioned. I didn’t want to sound like a wet blanket, which is why I mentioned the fact that SAG-AFTRA can always look to three years in re-negotiations to further refine the terms but it is the reason why I think the WGA negotiated a deal that is a bit more forward thinking, even though SAG-AFTRA obviously got more money up front. The fact that Justine Bateman is looking to the WGA’s focus of their negotiations as a model going forward speaks to that.
  17. From what I can recall, Lisa seemed to be very suspicious of John Dixon in the case of Kim’s stalker. There was a Christmas card that was sent to Kim that aroused suspicion and unease and appparently, John sent a similar card? I am think, either they all purchased their greeting cards from the same places or it was those holiday greeting cards that came in a pack that were somewhat generic and likely looked a lot alike. In terms of the Marie Kovacs murder, there seemed to be a few would be suspects but the main suspect was Kevin Gibson, Frannie’s soon to be ex-boyfriend, who was so exasperated by the antics of Marie that he angrily declared in a room full of people, that he could just choke her.
  18. Honestly, I thought Kim giving Seth the business was more about lingering feelings for how he hurt Frannie and yes, with a bit of concern/confusion about how seemingly quickly he’d moved on from Frannie, then Sabrina and then Betsy. If anything, her situation was probably more comparable to when Seth slept with Sabrina while still engaged to Frannie. I thought those feelings were likely all bundled up together. There is some cognitive dissonance on Kim’s part, of course but that was probably a very human realistic, far from perfect side of Kim.
  19. And with a different actor from Heather Tom, it may not have the same effect.
  20. Yes, Mississippi, like many Southern states such as Louisiana, Texas and Georgia have a well known history of voter suppression. Still, Presley didn’t seem to be a very magnetic candidate and bragging about his anti-abortion credentials on the campaign trails was never going to do much to distinguish himself from the opposition candidate.
  21. Georgia, Mississippi and Texas all have Republicans governors. The role of governor is quite significant for a state as it is much more immediate in governance, as are laws passed on the state level. I am also going to guess that most Southern states have a Republican Secretary of the State, whose office is in charge of the voting apparatus. Georgia is more on the purplish-blue side these, and perhaps in the near future, the state of Texas (other than Austin) will be but Mississippi has a long way to go (even Elvis Presley’s cousin couldn’t win as a Democratic candidate) before it can get there. Virginia and Arkansas have always had some Democrats win higher elected office (Governors Douglas Wilder and Bill Clinton being two of the most prominent governors of those states). *Although I do wonder whether the Democratic candidate for governor of Mississippi could have won (or at least gotten close) had he not been so avowedly anti-abortion and run on a similar pro-choice platform as other winners in the Democratic party.
  22. Hm, I am hearing of a mixed reaction from some members but I think it will mostly likely be approved in the end. The stirrings of a mixed reaction may be on account of the actors not getting that percentage of the streaming that they wanted. They did, however get a sizable raise and a new residual agreement. And in 3 years, they can always try to re-negotiate.
  23. Phillip had too many emotional problems to be boring.🙃 Driscoll seems like a nice guy but the character was boring. I mean, Nina obviously raised him well but it was downright odd that Chance has no hangups when his father voluntarily disappeared from his life for most of his life. I never understood how that didn’t cause massive emotional trauma to Chance’s psyche. And military service, I would think, would exacerbate the problem.
  24. I can’t believe this show made Nina’ Webster’s son so boring, although the character was pretty boring when John Driscoll played him too.
  25. It looks like on Friday, the details of the agreement will be revealed, so it will be interesting to see how much give and take there may have been. At least those actors who have acting jobs can go back to work tomorrow.
