Couldn't she say up outdoor seating and patios for her places...or is that a no no in LA?

The 1st year of any soap has a lot of changes because you have no idea what will work and not work. Odd that they got rid of Paula's mom..when she could have been the local advice giver..plus with all the Cole/Olivia drama..would have been interesting to see her take of her long time friend hooking up with her long lost son. I could see why Paula and tiffany were written off, plus Eddie..but killing off Mark never made sense since he and Gabi were good together...and a Ricardo/Gabi/Mark triangle would have worked..with Gabi torn between them.

I always loved someone playing the matriarch game..but I love the designated patriarch roles you assigned to the men @Mitch Do you guys think Eve/Ed was always planned..or do you think the actors having chemistry made the writers opt to pair them? And Rachel Miner so could have played the wild uninhibited abandon of Michelle. She lost the only mom she ever knew (Maureen) and then her future step mom that she grew to like (Eve) within a few years time. Heck, I think 1995/6 would have been the time to bring Claire back. Maybe playing a tug of war with Claire over Michelle might have enticed Peter Simon to remain instead of quit. Who knows

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
RHOBH: Denise booked Bold & the Beautiful, plus whatever new show she is filming right now.. based on the Housewives. She actually hustled herself new acting jobs based on her two season stint on the housewives. Sadly, being on the show meant a dissolution of her 20 + year friendship with Rinna.. but that could be for the best. Garcelle should not return because she got the first season glory edit.. and now that she's going to be co-host of the Real... no need for her to continue on the housewives. Season 2 for her would have had the Coven target her.. and I think Garcelle doesn't need to lower herself to fight with them. While the Coven plots... both Denise/Garcelle have used the show for exposure with new jobs... and both leaving would be best for their long term professional futures. RHOC: An optimistic part of me thinks maybe season 15 will provide Kelly with the evil edit based on our remarks, not taking Covid seriously, etc... People are already not liking her from the trailer.. so I can only imagine what they will think once the season starts next month. RHONY: Dorinda: Classic signs of an alcoholic.... Anger, not holding her liquor, deflection, and denial. Bye Dorinda.. you won't be missed.

Yeah, Jason Frame was bought on during Depriests tenure. He had ties to Reginald and Mary..while he had some creepy scenes with Nicole. Once Depriest left and the strike started...the Jason/Mary..and Jason/Nicole stuff were dropped. Having Nicole be the killer of Jason was a good choice given the weird vibe/interest he had in her in his early days. Do you think had Mac not passed..that Iris and Rachel would have been stuck in the hamster wheel of competing for Mac's attention? His death actually evolved their relationship..and freed both Rachel and Iris to go in different directions..imho

Caroline seemed like she was created for a specific purpose..yet it never became apparent to the audience. I wonder if she was meant for the Mac story that had to be rewritten when the actor passed suddenly? She was an art dealer..maybe she was supposed to play a part in the Red Swan story?

I watched the OC's early season reunions...vastly different and fun. Only one episode and little to no fighting (Tamra was on her best behavior in the season 3 behavior).

I'm wondering if BD made a bad acting choice because pre Jill's divorce settlement...BD played Jill as cold, a little campy, but also with a bit of vulnerability (when she called Phillip at Christmas 1984 and he didn't want to come home..you felt for her). However, once Jill divorced John and was at Jabot, her acting changed. Wasn't it said that she was getting conflicting notes from Bell and producers on how to play Jill? Bell wanted her to play Jill one way while producers there wanted her to be OTT? Maybe she was trying to play Jill in a way that would satisfy both sides..and it came off badly? Also, I'm wondering had BD kept playing Jill...I have a feeling she would have been exactly like Kay...a lonely woman with all the money in the world? I know that she instantly didn't like Nina because she saw herself in her (i.em buttering her up, ulterior motive, etc). I truly think the Jill/ Nina story would have been different had she remained...imho

I will say that the Jill character changed completely with Jess Walton taking over. Jess's Jill was convincing as a Jabot employee in charge of the Men's line, while Brenda's Jill looked like she was playing dress up (which made sense since she only was working there due to the divorce settlement with John). And rewatching the scenes of Bond's Jill... she was more subdued and almost too professional and level headed to play Jill. Did Deborah Adair's Jill ever work at Jabot? If so, did she come across more professional as Jill?

Where was it in the interview where he said people didn't like the actor playing Rick? I wonder if the circumstances on how he was hired to play Ed back in 1981 colored how he viewed playing the character? I do know that he thought the show didn't really play out the Maureen death angle as much, and he echoed the sentiments expressed by many.. that the show lost a great actress in Ellen Parker.

I do confess I would have loved to see more of Brenda's Jill with Nina. She was dismissive, but there were instances she knew when Nina was scheming. There would have been less yelling for sure. Brenda's Jill was cold and sarcastic... keeping her emotions in check. When Jess took over, Jill became more in your face and unable to hide her true feelings.

Dorinda is trash, just cast someone with nice property and can hold their liquor better to replace her. Easy solution

Regarding the season 4 NY reunion...looking back it wasn't so much toxic..it was a lot of crosstalk and yelling...where Andy Cohen had to tell them all to be quiet. In the season 4 lost scenes of episode of BH...kyle had an expert advise her on how to present her caftans (I think she was going on QVC or HSN)...and the coach told her to stop talking about herself because doing so wouldn't convince people to buy her product...and in the talking head..Kyle was rolling her eyes. Kyle has always been overshadowed by her sisters, LVP, Denise and now Garcelle...it's why she's so pressed all the time

My mom fondly liked Matt.. and I asked if he was anything like Victor.. and she said no. I think that there was a lot of untapped potential with the Matt character... and I felt that the show didn't really explore the Victor/Matt dynamic to the fullest extent. Victor was abandoned by his parents, grew up in an orphanage, and became this angry driven man.. and it did affect how he was as a parent (in some ways, Jack was more of a father to Nicholas than Victor was)... while Matt ended up being raised by his family since he was born later on so he didn't have the chip on his shoulder that Victor did. Sadly... by the 80s.. soaps were more about couples/triangles than about psychological character study so the potential was never fully explored.

Peter Simon talked about being cast as Ed...and all he said was that he was asked in the spring of 1981 to not work because there was a role for him..and didn't even tell him what the role would be. He ended up not starting as Ed till months later. He said what he heard was that the head writer wanted someone younger and less likely to adlib... and Peter Simon said 'and they hired me?' They spilled some nice tea.
