  1. Thanks for letting us know. The scripted court show is a lost era (and more interesting than all the People's Court/Judge Judy sister and brother shows). It's hard to find these episodes and even harder to find info on them, as you can see from the shambolic IMDB entries. I hope someone out there can start sorting out dates, casts, etc.
  2. They seem to have scraped through another year. I hope they will keep some of the positives of this year (like Emmett) and learn from some mistakes (stop the endless Esther focus). https://www.stuff.co.nz/culture/360777718/shortland-street-return-2026-nz-air-funding
  3. There's some, but that's mostly down to certain performers. Andrea Evans often manages to find heart and sincerity in very daffy and selfish stories. I think Clint Ritchie does too, in the Old West story. And Erika does a good job making the stroke story believable. Jessica Tuck may have been the ideal actress for that period as she can play the roughness yet bring the vulnerability.
  4. Rauch did a lot of damage to the show, even if it was moribund by the time he arrived. I think there's still a good amount to enjoy in the late '80s, namely due to the female cast. Rauch brought in one knockout after another and would center large parts of the canvas around them. There are also a lot of ridiculous howler moments, ridiculous camp, which I am not a huge fan of on soaps, but they're a guilty pleasure of mine with his era. Here's one of my...erm...favorite examples. It's not as good as what you are watching, but if you get up to about mid-1994, I'd say most of what you are enjoying will start to go anyway, so that might not be a bad time to loop back.
  5. Yes. I think in the fall. Vaness arrived several months earlier.
  6. Thanks for responding.
  7. Does Alex (not the actor or his chest) have any fans?
  8. Thanks. I don't really know Ferrell's history but I see she didn't do anything for about 5 years and then just had a few roles. I wonder if she wanted a long break after being constantly worked on GL. I was also a Nadine fan. I put a lot of that on Jean Carol, although the whole triangle-that-wasn't with Billy and Vanessa was unique to me in that I felt for both ladies. GL was a nuanced enough show where at its best I often felt for both parties, maybe because GL had complex writing that made you understand people even if you didn't always like them. I agree all the nuance of the Coopers left when Buzz arrived, although I put that on JFP more than Buzz or Deas.
  9. You're right that she probably should have known of Holly, given the rape trial and the publicity, then Roger kidnapping Holly. I think she must have interacted with Rita at some point as she was sniffing around Ed for a while. One thing I notice is Maeve is not treated well enough by hair and wardrobe in those 1987 episodes. I remember her looking more stylish by the time I started watching (1990 or so) until she got together with Matt.
  10. Thanks. I can't remember if either are mentioned again. Maybe Roxie, briefly.
  11. Is this Tom Urich? I can't figure out. He seems familiar.
  12. This had already been up at one time, then taken down, now has been reuploaded. Morgan talks a lot about Jennifer and her stories up to that point.
  13. They don't. So you just seem to get hired too often from nepotism or because you kiss a headwriter's ass.
  14. I have been scanning through the mixtape soap uploads over the last few weeks - I haven't posted any here because they are all 1987 GL, which is already available. One thing I notice is how much heavy focus Johnny and Roxie get, especially during his cancer story. The story is so maudlin, including a sequence where he's flying and seems to be tempted to commit suicide (?). And multiple episodes with flashbacks of their great love. Was Kristi Ferrell let go or did she want to leave? If she was let go, what a grotesque way to write out a character - her boyfriend gets a miracle cure, and she's put in an asylum. How long was it before Johnny moved on? I wonder how long he even remembered her.
  15. If there were still writer training programs in place for daytime it would help.
  16. Instagram Rest in peace Michael Blake, who played Paul on Degrassi Junior High.
  17. Did she have much interaction with Holly in 1980?
  18. Tylo had great cheekbones and an aura of mystery and chemistry at various points. I think the phrase, "I'd like to know less about you," applies to him. Once they got into so many complicated secrets and he had to settle down there was less to be interested in. In the long run I'm still not really sure if making him Henry's son was worth it, although that story probably is what kept Henry and Vanessa on the show through the 1982 and 1983 purges. It seems like GL had purges through almost every year in the '80s...
  19. Watching that promo made me so proud of Maria Arena Bell - her promise finally came true!!!
  20. A number of these fall previews for ABC fall '74 had already been on Youtube but this one was new to me.
  21. https://www.primetimer.com/features/is-the-jeffersons-reboot-with-anthony-anderson-coming-to-paramount-in-2025-viral-poster-debunked
  22. Javi hasn't even been on that long so if they have story for him, I can see recasting him. If he's just there to do what he's doing now, then they shouldn't recast.
  23. Thanks for sharing. I didn't realize until I saw that Secret Storm episode put up earlier this year that 4th of July celebrations were already airing on soaps at this time. I would love to see Papa Bauer's involvement, being a first-generation immigrant. A shame the show didn't keep Robin around to possibly be paired with Mike later on. I wish I could see those last days of Kathy too. Such a sad, sad life she had.
