  1. Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad they remembered Eileen, however briefly. Her name should be on the bricks of many CBS buildings.
  2. A part of me wonders if the plan may have been for Sasha to lose her baby (again), which would have sent her out of town in despair and also led Michael to be more determined to keep his kids away from Willow. Then they decided that was just too much and let Sasha leave town with her happy ending.
  3. A belated thank you to @Joseph for finding those and thanks to @dc11786 for bumping this and your wonderful analyses. Once I watch the episodes I'm going to have to read your thoughts.
  4. I think Ava works best as a spark plug character. There is some potential if Ava is caught between Ric and Cody but now that just means she is in story with recurrers.
  5. @I Am A Swede That is one of my favorite ABBA songs. Amazed it isn't used more for vampire movies or some kind of late '70s-set drama about the ingenue who parties hard to forget her troubles.
  6. I know he did some good work at OLTL with Malone in the mid '90s, but I can't remember anything beyond that. Having a young woman raped in the Horton living room and having the most prominent gay man on soaps murdered by a serial killer said it all for me. As for Chance, this is just a huge waste. They never got Chance right, but there is no story reason to kill him. I wonder if this was already planned or if this is out of spite for the actor leaving to go to DAYS. The show never stops strip-mining its past. Will Tricia Cast even be back?
  7. I did like that they made sure Marlena said the words in the promo just so people wouldn't think the soap was coming back. Billy Flynn looks like he's about to laugh. Stacy Haiduk seems to be playing Susan straight, which is probably not a bad departure. I will never get used to her being any regular or semi-regular part of EJ's life though - she's just such an odd fit for his world.
  8. It may not be the exact date. I see that I also put 1994 on there so it may have been filmed and then ran a while. Scott Hoxby (Cutter) also did these types of foreign ads where he never spoke, just there to look pretty.
  9. With all the recent talk of Frank Beaty I forgot that about 7-8 years ago I clipped this ad he did (not sure of the exact date).
  10. Did Molly want to leave? Is that why they just had the fake Charity? After seeing Kristina Sisco slowly learn to act on ATWT I was surprised to hear she had popped up on Passions. Did the last Kay have any fans? Not sure if the Miguel recasts did... From the bits I've seen of Sam and Ivy later on he seemed to be angry with her for a while but then finally decided he still wanted to be with her, no matter what. It's a remarkable turn for JER (imagine John forgiving Kristen and leaving Marlena in the dust), although I give him credit there. I would have enjoyed seeing them dirty Sam up a little anyway if the show had gone on longer.
  11. Does Disney own Golden Girls? I didn't know that. They should do a panel with all the various and confusing kids of the characters. Or Hank Azaria.
  12. Why did the JER tire of Sheridan/Luis anyway? He seemed to stay with all of his other forever couples. Were Sam and Ivy also meant to be a forever couple, or did he just get tired of Grace?
  13. Thank you @wonderwoman1951 @Vee You so often hear about older people who have lost all their money and are being taken advantage of. I'm glad KLS seems to be doing well and is still able to find happiness. And yes, her story about Susan Sullivan was touching. I had no idea they were close friends.
  14. And even that had a great big out clause, which tells you how terrified the show is.
  15. We're meant to see Marco as bad and Sonny as in the right, I assume. I don't really have any investment in a Carly and Lucas relationship - I know they may have been somewhat closer in the last decade but she was not a formative part of his life - so if the point of this is to end in Lucas begging Carly's forgiveness, I would rather they just kept Lucas offcamera.
  16. Rebecca Staab (ex-GL, PC, primetime Dark Shadows, etc.), who played Sue Storm in the never-released Roger Corman take on Fantastic Four, has a small role in the new film and attended the premiere. There's a sweet moment where she meets Vanessa Kirby. Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/DMdknVepnim/
  17. There's also one in Tom's law office. I posted it a while ago but I'm not sure if it is still online or not. I think she was questioning him over why he fired Margo. It was fun and has the type of complicated mother/son dynamics that Tom and Lisa would naturally have (by the time of Gregg's Tom Lisa is more firmly put into the dotty older lady category so it just seems like Tom is tolerating her).
  18. Beau and Pam split up after the stress of his temporarily losing his voice and his career pressures, or something along those lines. Beau and Nella nearly became lovers but ultimately went to California (?) platonically. I think Pam went back home to Boston (?) soon after introducing her con artist father who never really had as much impact as you would expect John Dixon's brother to have.
  19. This is wonderful news. When the show was first moved to Peacock I thought they may have just been burning the order off, I wasn't even sure how long Peacock itself had been around. Yet they have clearly performed well enough to stay for what may be 5 years or more, even if Love Island gets the headlines. I wish there were more streaming soaps, but at least DAYS is still showing there's a path in that direction.
  20. I do think they would be more interested in casting based on past soap work more than anything else, as that's just how soaps often work. I don't think Kate's struggles would be the only issue, but I'd think it might be one factor, as I imagine they thought she'd be more popular in the role than she has turned out to be.
  21. I'd say there is a vocal backlash against an original IP with non-white characters in central roles - Ironheart is the most recent. People who are racist and also just people who want to make a quick dollar grifting about wokeness. Very powerful people in this country see anything that features black actors in lead roles as DEI, and Shari Redstone has been bending over backwards to cater to those people. Learning that this Skydance has the same mentality does make me wary.
  22. I don't know if any soap fan would be surprised. Soaps like OLTL were canceled even though they supposedly came in under budget. Most of the legacy soaps are long gone. The only thing keeping some on the air now is not legacy, but that the alternatives were nowhere near as successful or profitable as CBS or ABC had anticipated. I wouldn't be surprised if all the soaps are gone within 5 years, although I don't know how many of us will be here in 5 years either the way things are these days, to be honest. I do think a new and ugly turn is the anti-DEI obsession that is being put through everywhere with brute force. I would not be surprised if this is used to go after or get rid of Beyond the Gates. Skydance Tells FCC Paramount Eliminated DEI, Pledges to Appoint CBS Ombudsman
