  1. It almost feels like you're the Liberty Mutual spokesperson popping in to let us know.
  2. https://deadline.com/2025/08/robin-wright-u-k-moving-america-1236502726/
  3. Thanks @MissPalmer I looked at a few of the January 1967 episodes on Youtube and didn't see one with Scott. Would be great if that's new for us.
  4. That would have been wonderful. They must have known of Trudy as they did the radio show. I agree about Alan-Michael and Amanda, although that last flop Alan-Michael recast probably shut the door.
  5. That would have been lovely, even if the plan, IIRC, was just for him to appear as a spirit. I think Harley not being there was also a bit sad, but I know Beth was still at AMC and that character had already been run into the ground. I would have enjoyed an India return too, however briefly.
  6. That's at the top of the list (and yet somehow some actually praised him not bringing vets back as bravery...), but not the only one. One that always bothers me is on Coronation Street when Julie Goodyear said she wished she could return for the funeral of Betty Driver's character Betty, as they were close friends on and offcamera. ITV and the producers had such a beef with her, presumably, that they didn't agree, even though it would have meant so much to viewers (these characters had been close from the early '70s to the mid '90s) and given the character of Betty a proper goodbye.
  7. I have to give her some credit because many times producers just don't bother with any major returns, or only a handful, because their ego means it's their show and everyone is only interested in their stories. She could have done more, but she did much more than many I could name.
  8. They seemed to retcon her relationship with Roger when they decided to make Roger "good" around 1980, which meant lots of scenes of the two of them sneering at Delia. A simmering rivalry between Jill and Faith could have been interesting. They went so fast, and Faith behaved in ways that were difficult to ever come back from. I wish they'd managed the buildup better because this was some of the only time KMG seemed to find her footing in the part.
  9. I wonder how many only agreed to return because they knew the show was ending.
  10. I don't know if 5 pages on a board that isn't exactly driving industry focus is enough to warrant another 50-something hiring on a show where the median age must be 200, and on top of that, someone whose career prime was in 1995. It's not that Roger isn't talented or charismatic. He is. And he's aged very well. I just think these choices exemplify the failures of modern Y&R.
  11. Sorry, accidental post.
  12. A new (I think) 1993 episode was uploaded. @Soapsuds
  13. Thanks so much @EricMontreal22 ! That channel usually puts up new content. This one seems new to me. @dc11786 may remember it more than I do though.
  14. I give Wheeler a lot of credit for getting Lisa back as I know she and Michael Tylo both felt so burned by the show. And I give Lisa credit for returning, even though she had to change in a car and whatever else. I imagine she's the one who threw in the line about Quint and also that gorgeous look back at Company before she left. I don't think much of Jesse at first but I do like him more after a year or so when he shift stories a bit. On paper, it should have made sense to see Nola grasping again, but the results were very sad. The fantasy scene at least allows us to see Lisa Brown's dancing skills but that's the best I can say. She also had a fantasy in 1995 or 1996 where she was in a Western, shooting an extra who was meant to represent Quint. Just miserable.
  15. https://www.remindmagazine.com/article/34470/cynthia-watros-general-hospital-guiding-light-annie-dutton/ Some real praise for Robert Newman...and more reserved praise for Kim. I didn't know that the pill story started due to Cynthia ad-libbing that she had a headache.
  16. Not sure where this should go either (apologies if it was already post). Cynthia Watros talks about her soap roles. https://www.remindmagazine.com/article/34470/cynthia-watros-general-hospital-guiding-light-annie-dutton/
  17. I think the stories were successful, which probably helped Rauch want her back a year or so later, but I don't know how popular Andrea herself was in the part. She was very different from her predecessor, who was well-liked by fans and by Bell. From some of his script notes, he didn't seem to be much of a fan of Andrea's work in the part, IIRC.
  18. @Vee As always, enjoy the mini-reviews. I guess Malone's plans for Joey to be gay never even got any hints on air. There were a lot of stories with McKenna that always seemed to be hinted at rather than created, all the way to the end of his run. I don't think the show ever fully got Max after his original run. When JDP returns Max seems very desperate, his pairing with Lee Ann seedy (although they probably never intended that as anything beyond wrapping up what Walker had started), and the fling with Blair is not centered on him the way Max's old relationships were. He could be a sexist pig under Rauch, but you tended to see all sides of him. He wasn't that way after his return and I imagine that slowly ate at JDP, although I think from the Max/Blair stuff up to about early 1994 he's in a decent place. Any time I see your comparisons between Todd and Jason I'm reminded of what a better character Jason was and what a better actor Mark was, although I know Roger had more charisma and sex appeal.
  19. Thanks @safe . That's how it goes on soaps but I didn't realize just how many disparities there were about their mother and her age. That Now, Voyager memory says a lot about the Coleridge relationships, on several levels. Early on the idea was that Jill never felt at home with the Coleridges due to the mother, but she was still close to Roger, Ed, Faith. Later they retconned this as Faith always resenting Jill, saying she ruined their happy family life, that Jill was a "thing" who invaded their home. I really loathed Faith by that point.
  20. BBC America briefly repeated some of mid/late 2006 and early 2007 (that's where I first saw the show). I don't think it has ever been repeated otherwise. Jo Hallows was producer of the show from early days until about a year before Kirkwood took over. She had steadily made the show more glam and more melodramatic (she did the first serial killer story) but it was always more down to earth until Kirkwood. I don't get the impression the McQueens have been popular with viewers in a long time. 2005 does seem to be when all the soaps started becoming what they are now, sadly.
  21. Not sure where this should go but it's a new interview with Vernee Watson about her career.
  22. I never knew that. Sadly, it makes sense. Sure, let's have Kelly and Michael flop again like they did on GH when the show tried to re-pair them.
  23. I was about to ask if they will hire Michael Easton soon. I know some will be popping bottles. It's also becoming ATWT in its last decade, only even more hollowed out. The foundation of Y&R wasn't meant to rest on whether or not they can reduce the number of extras and sets enough to hire more former daytime names. Will the characters be living in Peapack-style repurposed supply rooms to pave the way for the Robin Christopher takeover? I don't even know if I'd consider Howarth an FOJ. Either way, it makes me nostalgic for the days where we could have laughed about whether Kale Browne would be the new Stuart Brooks. Now we're all just older and sadder...as is Y&R..
