  1. I did enjoy the Capitol rundown on the site earlier this year, but I haven't read most of their other pieces lately. I didn't know Daphnee was in Playboy. She's never come across as someone who got hired based on skin, which is fairly rare on daytime in modern times. I was impressed with her work from the first time I saw her on OLTL.
  2. Long-term I don't think it did anything, although I respect Jessica Tuck for returning so many times. That's a great idea about Carla. Ellen Holly was approached for the 25th but did not want to return.
  3. I think they were only together for a year, if that. To me Judi Evans is what is appealing for Beth. I don't think any of the material for Beth is that original or compelling, but Judi brings so much heart, strength, vulnerability to her work. Beth Chamberlin does her best with some insane material - the Carl story may be her best work - but Beth as a character is just a trash heap through that whole run.
  4. Hollyoaks did this in 2010. It's a good idea, but if your show doesn't handle the transition well enough, can just alienate old fans and not bring anyone else in. Luckily, OLTL managed the transition. Hollyoaks...did not.
  5. I don't think that Danny and Michelle were that bad with Joie Lenz in the role. Afterward...absolutely. I adored Billy and Vanessa but I don't think they were ever treated as a supercouple. Probably for the best.
  6. I wouldn't have wanted them to go too far but I do wish they'd had tension for a longer period of time. I wonder if Megan became too popular with fans too quickly for that to play out. We did get more with Viki and Natalie, especially as for the rest of the show you could tell she wasn't seen by the family as being as important as her non-acting sister.
  7. Thanks for the mini-reviews and clips @Maxim The Marty, Viki and Sloan scene is good, but hurt somewhat by the typical need in this period of going for the throat. I laughed at that extra going wild near the end, and the uber-dramatic music. Marty is so interesting in 1992 and early 1993, before she goes the route all "punished" women on soaps go and loses her personality. The Clint and Viki clip is lovely, and atypical of much of this period in that it breathes and is subtle. Very good work from Clint and Erika. I also like that the script just doesn't bother to hide how obscenely rich Viki and Clint are.
  8. Included is a free copy of Lila's memwahs.
  9. Quint and Nola may have been the closest to being in that vein. They even had the first call-in-to-name-our-baby gimmick.
  10. I think it was done more to clean up story. It was easier to isolate Blake and Ross and focus on the triangle with Ben if Rick wasn't involved. I do think story potential was lost but considering they did [!@#$%^&*] all with Rick and Harley having a child later on, maybe not.
  11. I wonder if they will have anything for Denise Alexander.
  12. Thanks. Glad to see Another Life had such heavy supporters in the industry.
  13. She certainly looks like Lulu. I was going to say that's an odd name until I realized her mother is named Pollyanna Rose. I saw an old interview where Billy said he wanted his daughter to be just like Bella Swan. I guess Charlotte is close enough...yikes...
  14. I was barely watching at this time and one of the times I tune in, she's falling on a glass, whimpering in pain, and bleeding out. I was traumatized and horrified. I don't know what the show was even meant to be at this time.
  15. Say what you will about BtG, but it's smart to have synergy between soaps and get viewers potentially interested in a new show.
  16. She made a big production of how Carlotta would not have supported Fish and Kyle getting married. I think the character had not had any problem with gay people (if anyone else remembers otherwise let me know) so it felt like she was pushing her own beliefs onto the character.
  17. Will they say she looks like Maya?
  18. Could this be the last soap-related interview featuring Carmen Duncan? It's from 2010. Reuploaded recently. Still so sad she's gone.
  19. Another episode I don't think has been up before. @Soapsuds @rsclassicfanforever Scott DeFrietas was so handsome by this point - still bizarre to me he was let go for not being "hot" enough. Then again, this show's idea of hotness by that point tended to be softcore performers. A long time ago there was a fic that had Andy, after leaving Oakdale in 1995, in a relationship with Hank Elliot. Andy being gay, or bi, would make sense to me, as otherwise I have no idea why in the hell he'd ever want to hang around Mike Kasnoff.
  20. I didn't mind the clone story, but the San Cristobel story was nonsense (and it only seemed to get more fan support when her role was deemphasized). I do see the attempt at making her like Viki now that you mention it.
  21. They did say that the Silas story was real...yippee... I didn't care for a lot of Reva's return stories, but I don't think she was ever one of the worst parts of the show, and I do think the Annie story in 1997 staved off cancelation. Beyond the weight and Rauch's sexism, Judi also had very bad memories of her time at GL.
  22. It also shows that there was no reason not to try. Every single thing involving Bryant was a flop (and I didn't think his death was any great shakes either as I mainly remember it for Hunt Block trying to cry), no matter who he was related to.
  23. A shame Bloom was pretty much done by the time he began. ATWT should have done whatever they could to keep her. ATWT had so much promise in the early months of 1995 before all the hacks came in.
