  1. Thanks for sharing that. Not a surprise. Nicole had become unwatchable by the last year or two. If only Esther had gone too. She sucks up endless, endless airtime and is just abominable.
  2. I heard today about HBCUs getting threats, even though the suspect is white. Many are just going to use this as an excuse for what they already wanted to do. That's why you have scum like Nancy Mace or Derrick van Orden in Congress who remind us it's all the fault of Democrats or the press and then when asked about the response when Democrats were killed, they just say they aren't going to talk about that or it's ridiculous. This is all theater to keep rolling out the agenda they were already rolling out. So is the people on the right who pretend to care about the Ukranian refugee murdered in North Carolina, even as they cheer for Putin, who has done who knows what to everyone she ever knew or loved. I'm sorry about what happened to Charlie Kirk and I'm sorry for his family's loss. But when I see articles saying that he is now seen as MLK, I'm reminded of his own views on MLK. https://www.wired.com/story/charlie-kirk-tpusa-mlk-civil-rights-act/ They don't even care enough about the man himself to focus on his own words and wishes. It's all fodder for the same mill, never, ever stopping.
  3. There's long been an idea that young voters are the future of progress. I never really believed it, as you can see just how many younger voters have been indoctrinated into bigotry and cruelty for many, many years now. There are also many who (rightfully) feel the country has no future, so they will vote for fascists because at least no one else (besides rich white people) will have a chance.
  4. Thanks @slick jones such a sad story about Thunder. Your thread helps keep their memories alive.
  5. Thanks. I do have a vague memory of that now. Maybe a hospital scene.
  6. Thanks @Maxim that was a lovely clip. A very modulated performance from Erika, and all the vulnerability and pain Susan Haskell wore so well early in her run as Marty. It always amuses me to hear of "Kiki." I never can remember if we actually see her on the show. Clearly soap savior Ron was a big fan too.
  7. @YTG I had no idea either. Thank you for letting us know.
  8. There were claims years ago that he didn't want her back when she rejoined the show in 2010, I think (if I'm wrong, my apologies). The pairing was random and the buildup was not even shown oncamera. It worked better than I would have expected, even if we are now back to the default (Kat/Alfie in the most apathetic reunion story, and likely Sharon/Phil again next year).
  9. Reva/Jeffrey almost seemed like a last resort as so many attempts at pairings for Jeffrey went nowhere.
  10. That is Willow, I suppose. To be honest, I think the show did a better job with the turn in Willow than Marland did with Barbara, where it came heavy and hard and then had to be toned down. I don't know if they will keep it though.
  11. Thanks. I grew tired of Phil too long ago to ever get past that time, but I do respect the work he's done with the Nigel story. I saw that Jacqueline Jossa told fans to vote for him rather than her. Some fans still miss the Phil/Kat pairing. Given the years of alleged issues between Jessie and Steve, they did make it work.
  12. BtG is still a new show, so I think any sign of support they get is a positive, especially in the current climate.
  13. I wonder if the show still being new helps because people can just catch up on what they've missed. If the ratings for encores hold, I wish CBS would consider putting another soap on too if it could come in at a lower cost with a repeats format. I find GH's ratings confusing in general these past few years.
  14. Shannon Sturges as Sheridan Crane.
  15. This probably isn't the right thread, I know, but I don't blame Wheeler. GL was extremely lucky to have lasted that long. By all rights the show should have ended in 1995 or 1996. Somehow it got a second wind. And then Conboy absolutely desecrated and bankrupted what little was left of merit in his stint as producer. That the show lasted another 5 years after he left was amazing. That story never would have happened without Reva's return. You can see how interested fans were in Annie before that point.
  16. Thanks. That was such an abrupt exit, I wasn't sure what happened.
  17. I think because she's Carly's daughter. The other problem is Eden is just unlikeable onscreen, to me anyway, so I don't know if she could pull off the layers.
  18. Carly being in the story would have made sense. For a character who is seen as so central to the canvas, she feels very isolated.
  19. Thanks @Maxim I've probably said enough about that story, and my issue with the trope of "bad homophobia" vs "noble homophobia," but I don't think the idea of Clint being reactionary or bigoted when he feels his son is "endangered" is that much of a leap. I just don't think the execution was good, as shown in the writing for him in that clip.
  20. Ben is the main soap role I didn't mind Hunt Block in. The character was extremely sleazy, and the writing was misogynist, but Block seemed to know the material was soapy trash and never took it too seriously. I also thought he worked well with Liz Keifer. I didn't even mind when they tried to clean him up later on. I think GL of that period suited slicker, coarser personas. It was one of the reasons I thought Wendy Moniz finally found her feet after struggling mightily from 1995-1997. And Laura Wright, who is a harder actress compared to many GL ingenues up to that point. The main reason I disliked him as Craig was that he just was not Craig and he was incapable of playing the material they gave him. I also did not think he had chemistry with Maura West, no matter how many times I had to read about their amazing banter. There was way, way too much press hype about the wonders of Hunt Block and how fantastic everything given to him was. No, SOD, I don't think Craig laughing at a man being raped is brilliant. Go to hell. It was disappointing that they didn't try to have a proper relationship with Ben and Ross, as I think Ross becoming such a boxed in character by the early '00s is one of the reasons it was easy for Conboy to start the process of dumping him off. I wonder how James de Paiva would have played the material, as IIRC the part was played for him. Probably not much different.
  21. I was bored enough to look and saw a few old tweets from 2018: I suppose the harsh lighting made the whole thing look even worse. McKenna mentioned that they didn't film together so I wonder if this was filmed in some bathroom wherever JPS' other current project is. I do like McKenna, so if he's staying around because he's a FoF, it doesn't really hurt anyone, but I do think, as you've all said a million times, Brennan is a nothing role, one that only got support because people liked Charles Measure and because they have no options for Carly. (did we ever find out why Charles left so suddenly?) Chris has been a working actor all his life and yet other than his years on OLTL I'm not sure how many times he's had roles that suit his talents. I heard a lot about that King of the Ants movie but it's not to my taste. In an ideal world, he would find a great job elsewhere and Brennan could be written out, but until that happens they seem to just be stalling the role out as it kills several birds with one stone. They could at least give him more shirtless scenes. The story reminds me of what AMC did when they had to deal with some poor writing choices for Skye and Janet and when they were trying to find their way with Erica after the drugs story ended. The whole witches of Pine Valley plot where they held Kinder prisoner. I agree that Kate Mansi has no guidance in the role. Best to let her go. I'm still amazed at how ossified Carly is. This is never where I thought she'd be back when I was a fan (the Sarah Brown years), although I guess her fighting with Laura over Deception was a sign.
  22. It really does look ridiculous. Maybe JPS is wearing it for a role. Is he playing the lead in the Snub Pollard Story? At least Chris McKenna had a better selection of facial hair (which may be the only interesting thing about that character).
