Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I’m glad Dallas is over. Idk how they got 16 episodes but New Jersey is only getting 13. I do think overall this season was decent, but it was too long. If they cut 3 episodes (and the entire Oklahoma trip) it would’ve been much stronger. It just felt like they were bending over backwards to stretch the material to fit the 16 episode order. On the other hand you have New York, which can get an entire interesting episode out of one day of filming. Ramona even said that despite Covid this season will have more episodes than last, which doesn’t surprise me. Those women know how to deliver. With that said, I am excited for the reunion. I thought that trailer was iconic and much better than the promo for RHOA. A good level of drama was shown and I love that they didn’t explain Brandi and Kary being on the tv screens which only made it more bizarre and hilarious. Brandi’s lighting made me SCREAM! That was better than I could’ve imagined and exactly how that miserable woman deserved to go out. I’m just happy New York is about to start. I’m ready for reliable and easy to watch housewives.

GH April 2021 Discussion
I’ll join in on the Carly love. This is the most interesting she’s been since I started back in 2019. I was so bored by Sonny and Carly as this happy, boring middle aged couple. I feel like he’s shining in a new environment and she is also very convincing trying to hold her family together and running the business. I often find myself watching these scenes and thinking of Sarah Brown. Not in a negative way suggesting Laura Wright isn’t doing a good job, but finally I see the Carly that Sarah Brown created. Im catching up on last week and I notice Scott asked Liz about her parents and her sister Sarah. I know we’ve all been waiting for her family for literal decades. I hope this isn’t another fake out. Her family is central to the history of the show and Liz is incredibly popular. I don’t think everybody needs their family on, but it would benefit her. They just brought on parents for Chase, a newbie who really didn’t need them. If he can get a full family then surely Liz can.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Another RHOA production scandal! Look at how this was edited. How they thought nobody would notice is beyond me. It’s like they’re going overdrive to create the story or perception they want and it’s getting kinda weird. Why is this specifically happening with ATL? I feel like for Kandi to start speaking out it must be bad. She never complains.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@TaoboiAndy LOVED Mama Elsa. I remember she was afraid to fly so Bravo got a private bus to drive her to New York so she could do WWHL and the reunion. She even had a spin off called Havana Elsa about her coffee business. I remember ordering some of it at the time. Her health issues which caused her to film less in season 3 is also why they demoted Marysol. I liked Marysol, but she was more of the HW than Marysol. She may not have had as much screentime, but she had the impact. ETA: The RHOA reunion was EXCELLENT! The trailer was TRASH and they released no sneak peaks so I assumed it would be boring. I decided to watch Kandi's Speak On It and she revealed a lot of tea. - In regards to the complaints about the season, she blamed production and not the cast. She said that they'd been filming for weeks and that was all cut and they were told to act like it didn't happen because it wouldn't appear on the show. - At the reunion she spoke much more than they showed. She said she spoke up in defense of LaToya and Kenya, but her mic was turned down. She said Drew lied about her Native American costume and Kandi called her out for that, but it was cut. - When Drew's team member busted in LaToya's room it was a BIG deal. LaToya was pissed and went on a major rant cussing out Drew and Ralph for that. Kandi said Andy told her "this isn't that type of show." To me, that is so offensive and I'm sick of the way they treat the black housewives. What Drew's team member did is a major violation and she had the right to be upset. - She said she felt like the editing protected Drew, as well as Andy because Ralph wasn't held to the fire the way they did Apollo and Peter back in the day. She said more, but it was a very good companion to the actual reunion. I love that she kept going in on production and making it clear she felt they did a horrible job this season.

Propose Your Dream Spinoff/Revival
If they did a Passions reboot or spin off I think it would be hugely successful. That show has so many secret fans who are now the perfect age to be valuable to advertisers. I just don't know who you could get to write it. As crazy as JER was, his show was very progressive in terms of representation. I'd hate to see it return and lose the diversity it had. For me, the most obvious services for soap spin-offs is Peacock and Paramount Plus. Instead of those little spin offs on the DOOL app, they could do similar things on Peacock, which is looking for an audience. DAYS has so many characters off screen you could easily do mini-series and spin offs in a primetime format. Like the Last Blast Reunion. That could've been 8-10 hour long episodes and it could've been done on a small budget and likely would've driven DAYS fans to Peacock. Same for the Chabby spin off in Paris. Literally you could easily come up with any number of spin offs, you could even do a supernatural spin off and they'd be able to do all of them for a good price. Another one that is a no brainer would be a B&B spin off. You have so many characters at Forrester International. You could do a New York or Miami set spin off.

B&B: Actress Exits
The way B&B writes and treats its black actors, like many soaps, is pitiful so even though she isn’t a great actress, I won’t knock her excitement. I wish any black actor on soaps the chance to spread their wings. So many ARE talented and are wasted in the background supporting the white characters in lead stories while waiting for their chance to have a generic C story in the background.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I actually think Jersey looks fantastic! They didn’t overdo it and even with their quirks I think everybody looks great. Teresa, Melissa and Jennifer are my favorites. @CatThe fact that anybody would even develop a show around Teddi’s eating disorder camp is insane! Lord! Who is next?! Kelly Dodd?

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
If she can get a pilot, they must be taking pitches from ANYBODY lol. I was shocked to see it to be honest.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Has anybody mentioned that Shannon Beador recently filmed a pilot for Peacock? She posted on her Instagram about it. I wonder what other Bravo-verse things they may be working on. I do think something smart to consider if PK and Dorit do end up back in the UK is to do a housewives show and let Dorit lead the cast. People have been dying for a Real Housewives of London and by using Dorit it would give the show a chance to potentially crossover either on Bravo or Peacock in the US.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Oh I hate to tell you, but the stuff about the Moon family is true. I heard about that lawsuit months ago, but I think because it didn't pick up steam she was able to present it like a "blind item," but thats a known case and the documents are out there. I never mentioned it because it doesn't mention her or any of the women in the family. Even her husband is barely mentioned, it's mostly her husbands family that is mentioned. Unlike the Erika or Jen Shah stuff, this has in no way implicated Tiffany in any wrong doing so it hasn't changed my opinion of her.

Dallas Discussion Thread
Yes and it was a fantastic story! I loved the nod at the end that he *was* Jock but left so he didn't cause his family more pain. That was a story that shouldn't have worked, but did. In general what hurt Dallas is they didn't build for the future. They were so concerned with making sure Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy were happy that they didn't care about anything else. A character like Jamie was great. She was a Ewing, experienced in the oil business (could've been useful at Ewing Oil) and had great chemistry with Cliff. Killing her off TWICE instead of developing her more was insane. Then as yall have mentioned, they did nothing useful with Jenna. Donna literally spent her entire final season in another state! There is just so much they could've done but they didn't even try. Of the new characters I feel the strongest was Cally. The actress took a comical role and added depth that made it believable that she would be with JR. I also feel like Lucy had potential in this time period, but they never even attempted a story with her. Lucy has to be the most wasted character of all time. I wish she had gone back to Knots Landing.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Tamara Tattles hasn’t been 100% with he tea lately, but her new post is juicy. Link: https://tamaratattles.com/2021/04/19/exclusive-rhoa-tea-2/ According to Tamara Tattles, Bravo is as disappointed as us in the latest season of RHOA and they’re in a sort of RHOC situation where they don’t have any good talent on deck and they don’t know what to do. They’re rushing Potomac out sooner to save their Sunday night lineup. As of now LaToya isn’t expected to be back. Kenya is on the bubble because of the issue with Marc not letting Brooklyn film. Sheree, Phaedra and Eva are the only pass housewives they’d consider returning, but it’s not set in stone any would actually come back. Her source also said the reunion is “trash.” Hopefully they can put their thinking caps in. They still have plenty of time before filming. It’s amazing that Atlanta has so much big talent on various reality shows, but the show that out Atlanta on the map can’t get anybody. To me that speaks to casting and their overall production team.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@CatWendy got better wigs that hide those Jermaind Jackson side burns she had last season. I also think having a makeup artist who can cater to her features is helping her. I don’t think she got work done. I do agree with you these Potomac promos are really telling. This show will likely debut after Married To Medicine ends sometime in June so that’s pretty out of the ordinary. It also tells me the season is going to be good. Right now I binged the last four RHOA episodes. This season I’ve only been able to watch it by doing it in blocks of episodes at a time. This was a horribly produced season with some of the worst editing I’ve ever seen. Hell, even these last episodes you have this out of nowhere prophet story taking up tons of airtime. I wonder if the fact that they took so many breaks during filming also played into this. I know the finale was something they went back to film due to another Covid shut down. Next season in addition to needing new producers, they really need to figure this cast out. I know many say Nene wasn’t the same and was played out, but it can’t be a coincidence she leaves and they lose almost a million viewers. I personally always found Nene entertaining and I do think she was missed. This cast just didn’t have chemistry. Drew is a decent newbie, but La Toya and Falynn were duds IMO. How is it Beverly Hills is getting newbies like Garcelle, Sutton, Kathy Hilton and Crystal (who seems strong), but Atlanta is going to a Zlist Youtuber? That makes no sense. They need to cast someone truly dynamic who can fit into this cast. You can’t keep going backwards to a Nene or Sheree or Phaedra. They need strong new blood and they haven’t had that in a long time.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
I started watching last year and I too fell in love with the original Santana. Not only is she a strong actress, but so beautiful. Its insane to me that she was fired when she could;ve been a major player for them long term. In terms of casting, I wonder if that's part of why I struggle so much with the series. I'm almost to Nancy Lee Grahn's arrival and I still am not in love with the show. I take breaks all the time. It seems like they can't maintain the momentum and the show has long periods of being dull. I have heard such good things, but I feel like I'm still waiting for that golden period everybody speaks of.

YR: Temp recast
Seeing them side by side is incredible. I hadn't realized how much they do look a like. If it works out I'd hope at one point they pull an Another World with Vicky/Marley and bring Hilary back (who people prefer Mishael as anyway) and they could have Karla play Amanda. Either way I will be tuning in to see how Karla does.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
The plus side for Days if streaming happens is that Peacock is both subscription and ad revenue based so it would be a win/win for the service if the show did well because they’d get money from ads for people who use the free version and also additional revenue from new subscriptions to watch the show commercial free. Y’all can’t tell me this isn’t weird. The show is officially done filming. What does that mean for contracts? Will everybody be released again? Do they even have a time table on a return?

Dallas Discussion Thread
That promo is better than the actual episode. With the exception of Mary Crosby whose character was dead, it would've been so nice to see all those others back in a REAL episode. It would've been a send off deserving Dallas. You'd have Gary and Val back to tie up loose ends and potentially give an opening to JR returning to Knots Landing, then you'd be able to script a proper ending to JR and Sue Ellen, you could address the baby Cally had and didn't tell JR about. It's wild the biggest complaint of the later years were so many people leaving and they brought them back for a fantasy episode.

Port Charles Discussion Thread
I just finished December 1997 and the show keeps getting better. Now it could be that my standards have been lowered since I found it so slow at the beginning (not to mention the current state of soaps), but so far I'm impressed with Lynn Latham as HW. She's injected the show with so much energy and the stories are moving faster, but she's also taking time to develop the characters. Ellen in particular was about to become one with the wallpaper and now she has a mother and a brother and a mystery about why they seem to hate her. She's also getting the romantic pairings going with Karen/Joe and Scotty/Eve having some nice development. I also like that Lucy, Kevin and Scotty are starting to be more proactive when it comes to getting Rex out of Serena's life. It's nice to see Lucy scheming, especially since it's so obvious this is going to blow up in her face.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
In the event that a soap does get canceled today, I wonder what future it'll have on streaming. When Passions went to DirecTV they said it was a big success, but of course canceled it once they got their subscribers, then they moved onto primetime shows. AMC and OLTL were successful on Hulu and OWN, but were ahead of the curve when it came to streaming. Say DAYS does leave NBC, I wonder if they'd consider moving it to streaming. You can't convince me it wouldn't be a big hit. It probably could be what Peacock needs to be saved since DAYS fans would have to flock to it to keep watching.

YR: Temp recast
I’m happy for Karla to get a chance to act again and get a little paycheck, but I do wish it was a regular role. She deserves to be hired by a soap. She did such a good job on B&B and proved herself a fan fave.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@CatKameron said that when they fixed Kary’s audio that Brandi’s went out lol! I can’t wait to see what they make of this footage. As for Melbourne, I was sad about the Gina news, but losing Lydia as well was such a blow. Gamble I agree is overhyped. Janet I think fit in the ensemble, but was never somebody I liked. Janet is the only top tier returnee. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on these newbies because Lydia and Gina have you so many good one liners and drama. Those are difficult personalities to replace.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I’m listening to Kary and Kameron’s podcast and they gave some reunion tea. Apparently Kameron did well and brought receipts, but the audio issues were so bad that Kary was on a delay and the ladies couldn’t hear her. They mentioned also having audio issues with Brandi. So this is about to be a disaster lol.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
It worries me because it’s feeling like Port Charles where they went on hiatus not knowing if theyd get renewed or not and as a result it ended on a cliffhanger. It’s so odd we know nothing. We don’t know if the show has a contingency plan or anything. All Ryan Qwan had to offer on Instagram was that he’s keeping his fingers crossed. This is so odd.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
Does anybody have an update on the show being renewed? I know they’re almost done filming for the “season” which would end with August.
