Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@CatWendy got better wigs that hide those Jermaind Jackson side burns she had last season. I also think having a makeup artist who can cater to her features is helping her. I don’t think she got work done. I do agree with you these Potomac promos are really telling. This show will likely debut after Married To Medicine ends sometime in June so that’s pretty out of the ordinary. It also tells me the season is going to be good. Right now I binged the last four RHOA episodes. This season I’ve only been able to watch it by doing it in blocks of episodes at a time. This was a horribly produced season with some of the worst editing I’ve ever seen. Hell, even these last episodes you have this out of nowhere prophet story taking up tons of airtime. I wonder if the fact that they took so many breaks during filming also played into this. I know the finale was something they went back to film due to another Covid shut down. Next season in addition to needing new producers, they really need to figure this cast out. I know many say Nene wasn’t the same and was played out, but it can’t be a coincidence she leaves and they lose almost a million viewers. I personally always found Nene entertaining and I do think she was missed. This cast just didn’t have chemistry. Drew is a decent newbie, but La Toya and Falynn were duds IMO. How is it Beverly Hills is getting newbies like Garcelle, Sutton, Kathy Hilton and Crystal (who seems strong), but Atlanta is going to a Zlist Youtuber? That makes no sense. They need to cast someone truly dynamic who can fit into this cast. You can’t keep going backwards to a Nene or Sheree or Phaedra. They need strong new blood and they haven’t had that in a long time.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
I started watching last year and I too fell in love with the original Santana. Not only is she a strong actress, but so beautiful. Its insane to me that she was fired when she could;ve been a major player for them long term. In terms of casting, I wonder if that's part of why I struggle so much with the series. I'm almost to Nancy Lee Grahn's arrival and I still am not in love with the show. I take breaks all the time. It seems like they can't maintain the momentum and the show has long periods of being dull. I have heard such good things, but I feel like I'm still waiting for that golden period everybody speaks of.

Seeing them side by side is incredible. I hadn't realized how much they do look a like. If it works out I'd hope at one point they pull an Another World with Vicky/Marley and bring Hilary back (who people prefer Mishael as anyway) and they could have Karla play Amanda. Either way I will be tuning in to see how Karla does.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
The plus side for Days if streaming happens is that Peacock is both subscription and ad revenue based so it would be a win/win for the service if the show did well because they’d get money from ads for people who use the free version and also additional revenue from new subscriptions to watch the show commercial free. Y’all can’t tell me this isn’t weird. The show is officially done filming. What does that mean for contracts? Will everybody be released again? Do they even have a time table on a return?

Dallas Discussion Thread
That promo is better than the actual episode. With the exception of Mary Crosby whose character was dead, it would've been so nice to see all those others back in a REAL episode. It would've been a send off deserving Dallas. You'd have Gary and Val back to tie up loose ends and potentially give an opening to JR returning to Knots Landing, then you'd be able to script a proper ending to JR and Sue Ellen, you could address the baby Cally had and didn't tell JR about. It's wild the biggest complaint of the later years were so many people leaving and they brought them back for a fantasy episode.

Port Charles Discussion Thread
I just finished December 1997 and the show keeps getting better. Now it could be that my standards have been lowered since I found it so slow at the beginning (not to mention the current state of soaps), but so far I'm impressed with Lynn Latham as HW. She's injected the show with so much energy and the stories are moving faster, but she's also taking time to develop the characters. Ellen in particular was about to become one with the wallpaper and now she has a mother and a brother and a mystery about why they seem to hate her. She's also getting the romantic pairings going with Karen/Joe and Scotty/Eve having some nice development. I also like that Lucy, Kevin and Scotty are starting to be more proactive when it comes to getting Rex out of Serena's life. It's nice to see Lucy scheming, especially since it's so obvious this is going to blow up in her face.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
In the event that a soap does get canceled today, I wonder what future it'll have on streaming. When Passions went to DirecTV they said it was a big success, but of course canceled it once they got their subscribers, then they moved onto primetime shows. AMC and OLTL were successful on Hulu and OWN, but were ahead of the curve when it came to streaming. Say DAYS does leave NBC, I wonder if they'd consider moving it to streaming. You can't convince me it wouldn't be a big hit. It probably could be what Peacock needs to be saved since DAYS fans would have to flock to it to keep watching.

YR: Temp recast
I’m happy for Karla to get a chance to act again and get a little paycheck, but I do wish it was a regular role. She deserves to be hired by a soap. She did such a good job on B&B and proved herself a fan fave.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@CatKameron said that when they fixed Kary’s audio that Brandi’s went out lol! I can’t wait to see what they make of this footage. As for Melbourne, I was sad about the Gina news, but losing Lydia as well was such a blow. Gamble I agree is overhyped. Janet I think fit in the ensemble, but was never somebody I liked. Janet is the only top tier returnee. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on these newbies because Lydia and Gina have you so many good one liners and drama. Those are difficult personalities to replace.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I’m listening to Kary and Kameron’s podcast and they gave some reunion tea. Apparently Kameron did well and brought receipts, but the audio issues were so bad that Kary was on a delay and the ladies couldn’t hear her. They mentioned also having audio issues with Brandi. So this is about to be a disaster lol.

They said the show is so bad they no longer have the energy to keep up with it.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
It worries me because it’s feeling like Port Charles where they went on hiatus not knowing if theyd get renewed or not and as a result it ended on a cliffhanger. It’s so odd we know nothing. We don’t know if the show has a contingency plan or anything. All Ryan Qwan had to offer on Instagram was that he’s keeping his fingers crossed. This is so odd.

Does anybody have an update on the show being renewed? I know they’re almost done filming for the “season” which would end with August.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Lisa Rinna definitely felt the backlash last season. Dumping a long term friend like she did Denise was shameful. I remember her even posting on Instagram that it’s the fans fault for how she acted because they want drama on the show....Ummm no. Fans want you to be yourself and be entertaining. The drama will come naturally. If she truly valued her friendship with Denise she wouldn’t have acted like that. I fully expect her to be in damage control mode this season.

Racism and racial representation on soaps
Oh I'd forgotten about that! It's so funny you mention that, because on The Locher Room they did an Agnes Nixon tribute a week or so ago and Debbi Morgan told a story about how severe the backlash was for Cliff & Angie and she started preparing herself to get fired due to the backlash and to her surprise they fired Bergman instead lol. He thought he had enough clout to complain about stuff like that but he didn't, at least at AMC.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I am not so sure! I feel like this is going to be a breakout season for Sutton. From what insiders have said she was 100% meant to be a Friend again, but she dominates the season so much (even moreso than some vets) that they had to promote her. I think fans will take to her with the Erika stuff because as time goes on we find more evidence that Erika knew of Tom's crimes. That's going to play in Sutton's favor. I also am not so sure the Crystal/Sutton feud is as bad as we think considering Crystal was liking Sutton's stuff on Instagram today. I know a big part of their feud is that Crystal is upset with Sutton being friends with Dolce & Gabbana, who Crystal feels is racist against Asians. As for Erika, I'm just going to hope against hope that Erika/Rinna don't win in making Erika the victim. I feel like they showed almost nothing in the trailer so this season could go so many different directions. They literally gave us a little tease. I do think it has more potential than last season though. The Denise stuff was SO dark and homophobic. The Erika stuff at least ties into Erika's history on the show, not only with Tom, but with her business and excess on the show. This story could have legs.

Racism and racial representation on soaps
@Paul Raven @FrenchBug82 Oh I absolutely do think racism plays a part in Peter Bergman's ongoing hatred for the Keemo story. I mean we already know how quickly he dismissed Victoria Rowell as crazy for mentioning racial disparities and he talks about the Keemo story like it is the most awful thing that has ever appeared on Y&R. They had this man playing a Spanish drug lord who ended up raping his wife, but Keemo is the worst thing and the only thing you mention that can NEVER be brought up? Give me a break. Even if he thought that initial storyline was bad, what harm would it do to bring back his son who he canon? To me it can't be anything but racism. Maybe he doesn't feel like an Asian man could have the strength he would want for Jack's son. I'm not sure the exact motivations, but I think it is disgusting that they allow him to do this. Peter Bergman is almost 70 and they're still pairing Jack with 20 year old women. He needs to be transitioned into a Patriarch. Pair him off with Jill and let them head the Abbott family. Bringing on Keemo would give a viable Abbott who could run Jabot. Keemo could bring a wife and kids with him. This would allow Kyle (and Summer) to be written as their age and not stuck in business stories that are out of their depth right now. Give them friends, romantic entanglements, kids, etc. and things that fit their young age. Let Keemo (and Jack) take on the Jabot storylines. Plus Keemo also has a sister out there who isn't related to anybody and could be useful.

Days: April 2021 Discussion Thread
Dramatically I hope that either Claire or John killed Charlie. I'd love for Sami to secretly know it's one of them and be protecting them. The tension that would cause with Belle and Marlena and the extended family would be nice, considering they are so quick to judge Sami when she does something wrong. Especially if it's Claire, I'd love to see where it takes Belle and Sami's relationship.

Queer As Folk Reboot Bravo Bound
I'm honestly impressed with Peacock. They have a lot of content and their original shows (including the ones from overseas they acquired) read like an elevated NBC experience, as it should. They have a good diversity of content and the upcoming stuff is hopefully going to bring them more attention. I know they have this, The Best Man tv series and three Housewives series coming. I hope it all works out for them because this could be a new successful hub for diverse content.

2021: The Directors and Writers Thread
Bringing Adam back was the worst thing the show could’ve done. The best thing SSM did was refuse the shows request to bring that tired character back.

That trailer is wasnt as excited as New York, but it did enough for me to tune in. I will say my favorite moments were all the Sutton and Kathy revealing to Kyle that Kim changed her number and didn’t tell her lol.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
This I don’t believe. Just because Bravo is filming a show there doesn’t mean it’s Housewives and I kinda hope it isn’t. Also, re: Johannesburg, I believe Brinette that there is more to the story and also I do think after time to cool off and investigate, the show will continue. Christal has a history and I can’t believe her version of events without knowing the full picture. To date she’s the only one who has been physical with anybody so I don’t doubt she somehow caused it. In regards to the RHOM news, I refuse to accept it until it’s announced! I can’t imagine that show without Gina. She is their Teresa.

ABC: ‘All My Children’: Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos Developing Primetime Version
From the Agnes Nixon tribute at The Lochee Room, her son seemed like he was disappointed the news was released so early. He was very vague, but made it sound like it was still in the early stages. At this point I’m not expecting it for this upcoming season.
