Doug Watson for sure. AW was good after he died, but not having Mac around... Bay City just wasn't the same following Mac's death.

Doug Marland was another one, and so was Michael Zaslow.

Losing Henry Slesar was sad, even though he hadn't written a daytime drama in nearly 15 years when he passed away.

When I heard of Richard Biggs' passing (ex Marcus, DOOL) I was shocked!! He was so young.

Hearing about Michael David Morrison (ex-Caleb; ATWT) was a stunner. If I recall correctly, he died of a drug overdose and was only about 30.

Macdonald Carey, he was the heart and soul of DAYS, along with Frances Reid. When she goes, now that will be total devastation.

I forgot about Michael Zaslow. It was so sad seeing him get sicker and sicker. It was one of those deaths that I knew was going to happen, but prayed that it wouldn't occur.

Also, even though he wasn't a soap star, I was absolutely shocked when John Ritter died. I remember reading about it on the internet and suddenly feeling numb.

I hear you, Ms. Walsh. John Ritter holds the distinct significance for me of having been the first star I ever saw up close in person. He filmed part of "Hero at Large" in my neighborhood and it was a big deal for me as a kid that I brushed arms with John Ritter.:) With him in a spandex superhero suit no less. B)

Christopher Reeve's was very tragic, also. One of those things where, all those years, you kept hoping for the best but expecting the worst, and then the worst happened. :(

"Three's Company" is one of my favorite shows of all time, always has been, so when he died, I was just hit by a bus. I remember it was a Friday. I had just got home from school and got online and went to a message board. There was a thread titled "John Ritter has died!" and I thought it was a hoax, but GL had just went off and the CBS newsbreak confirmed it.

Nancy Addison Altman. She was only 54 when she died, way too young. She was one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in daytime and so underrated.

Josh Ryan Evans, definitely.

David Bailey was also a weird and sudden death. He was *SO* Alistair. I loved him.

I remember feeling quite sad when I read about Terry Lester's death. To me, he will always be Jack Abbott.

I certainly was VERY upset as a kid when I heard Brent Collins (Wallingford,AW) had died. He was one of those people ya just knew had a good heart & soul. To this day, I'm saddened by it. It was so nice when AW first begin re-airing on Soapnet to be able to see him again, if only for a short time.

Josh Ryan Evans was equally heartbreaking, for very much the same reasons. Plus, he was defying the odds. Always something I can get behind.

Some others I was Quite Upset By:

MacDonald Carey - I grew up with Dr Tom & Alice - he with the big glasses and minus a chin, she forever in a bun. When he went, it was upsetting to say the least. Agree with the poster who said "When Frances goes- forget it" I'm gonna really lose it then.

Anna Lee

Constance Ford

Mary Stuart (my grandmather watched her as Jo for SFT's entire run)

Bernard Barrow

Larry Haines

the actor who played Saul on B&B (his name escapes me)

Frances Heflin - I started watching AMC shortly before she died. She was an immensely talented and underrated actress. Loved Mona

Ruth Warrick

I was in the hospital at the time, and everyone knows you can't get any sleep in the hospital. So, I was half-sleep when the morning news said that John Ritter had past. I just couldn't believe it. I honestly thought I heard that wrong, but sadly, I didn't.

As far as Daytime, MacDonald Carey was one of the first doctors I saw on television. He truly was the head of that entire family, and his presence is missed, even today.

Douglas Watson's death was done very well on AW. He was one tremendous actor.

Richard Pryor's death ended a true era in comedy. I really don't know if we will ever see his talent and brutal honestly in comedy again.

And ine death in primetime still saddens me. When Jim Davis (Jock Ewing, Dallas) past away, I honestly didn't know how that show would do his passing. As it was, they killed him off in a helicopter crash, and made his memory such that he was a character on that show until it ended. Now that's presence, and like the rest, he is still missed today.

Um...did it really affect you that much?

Because...um...sorry to tell you...but...um...he's not dead.

MacDonald Carey.

I still remember the episode when Alice came down the stairs and said he was gone.

Days lost its heart that day. MacDonald was incredible. The only actor in Days history to garner two consecutive Emmy awards. I remember being very young and my mother crying. I asked her why and she said simply that she had watched from the first episode and felt like he was a father figure. I remember crying because I knew it meant so much to my mother.
