June 27, 200619 yr Member I have to say, I never liked Maggie or Suzanne Roger, but since the serial killer storyline I love her. She played it so good, and on the island she was great as well. I wish they did more with Maggie, because Suzanne isnt too old to play a big storyline again. Too bad Mickey is out, because I think we won't see a lot of Maggie, Too bad
June 27, 200619 yr Member Maggie unfortunately will be one of the gones due to the budget cuts. I just have that feeling. She was one of the early ones fired during the SSK story and just following that I think she and James Reynolds will go - hopefully just to recurring. Rogers is a great actress. She always had strong stories early on but when she did the alcoholism story in 1978 that got her the very first Supporting Actress nod at the Daytime Emmys - man she was terrific. Sad that Days has not seen fit to use her that much since then. Her next best story I think was when she was torn between Don Craig and Mickey Horton. She always has her other moments too: her death during the SSK story, her coming back to find Mickey with Bonnie, her little story arc being a surrogate mother for Evan Whyland, her brief flirtation with Doug in the late 70's early 80s, etc. She is a terrific actress. I sure hate to see Days lose her but I'm afraid the writing is on the wall for her.
June 27, 200619 yr Member I think Suzanne is probably the BEST actress on Days right now, bar none. She has more talent then most of her younger costars in her finger then they do in their entire bodies. When Maggie "died" on Days, I truly felt like my heart was being ripped out. Her anguish and fear, from the sessions on Marlena's couch to her "final moments" when she tearfully sobbed "Please, Mickey needs me," I had tears pouiring down my face. It was the HIGHLIGHT of the atrocious SSK storyline. I pray that if/when Hogan comes on board, he utilizes her more. I'd like nothing more than to see Maggie fall off of the wagon and become a raging alcoholic again. Suzanne would prove once again to the world that she is a force to be reckoned with.
June 27, 200619 yr Member Keith, I love your Wicked quotes.... ...but tell me... do you defy gravity?
June 27, 200619 yr Member No way they'd let her go. Maybe recurring, which still sucks ... I adore her. I really REALLY do. I don't see Corday making that mistake again. Remember how she shined in the SSK storyline and the backlash to her firing? They'd be stupid to get rid of her. Kill off Mickey and give Suzanne some killer material for a few months. Maybe even have her fall of the wagon after ALL these years (as the other Shawn suggested, lol) and watch her rebuild her life without Mickey in it. That could be *at least* six months of amazing material for her to play. Hell, I'd watch Suzanne Rogers reading the phonebook.
June 27, 200619 yr Member She will be recurring but I can't see them firing her completely. I just don't think Days will do that to her again.
June 27, 200619 yr Member She will be recurring but I can't see them firing her completely. I just don't think Days will do that to her again. I agree with you. I can't see them firing her all together.
June 27, 200619 yr Member I think she will go recurring too, but face it when a performer goes to recurring they have been fired. It is the same as if your boss came in to you today and said well I don't want you to come to work next week. I think we will be using you in the near future at some point but I can't even tell you when. And BTW you won't get benefits anymore either, and will only get a paycheck if I call you to work. And on recurring there is no promise of any episodes at all. And they can use you when they won't or stop using you without even letting you know. They can also recast your part without letting you know. It is a very unfair position to any performer, but many of them will do it simply because they want to work when they can. I was glad for awhile when Marj Dusay took a stand and said she wouldn't do recurring for GL, but I guess she changed her mind as she appears every once in awhile.
June 27, 200619 yr Member No way will she be fired altogther. If she is, I predict another massive backlash.
June 27, 200619 yr Member Oh, the gorgeous, mischievious, delicious Maggie. She has contributed so much to Days and she is a jewel every time she appears. I love Maggie and hope that she is around for as long as she'd like to be. Also, she is worthy of a very strong romantic story yet. Hope the new team sees that. We really need Jed Allen back as Don Craig or the new Mickey.
June 27, 200619 yr Member Keith, I love your Wicked quotes.... ...but tell me... do you defy gravity? And I must say, I think you all underestimate what stupid mistakes Corday isn't willing to repeat.
June 27, 200619 yr Member I can see them firing her completely. They did it before. Helllooooooo? I am one of the FEW (and correct ) ones who thinks it was the intention all along to bring them back, but the show did last 8 months without her. Unfortuntely, Maggie and Rogers are hardly a necessity for DAYS' survival/existence. Sucks because Rogers is without a DOUBT, my favorite vet.
June 27, 200619 yr Member Since Suzanne is forever stuck in recurring hell, it was a real treat to see her get the opportunity to have a good part in the SSK story. She did an amazing job, but I really think we won't see her that much anymore.
June 27, 200619 yr Member I think the SSK, ironically, garnished SR her best performance in 15 years *AND* made a whole new generation (possibly two new generations) of DAYS fans SR/Maggie fans for life. Before the SSK, for me, it was like Maggie? Rogers? Who cares!
