I have to agree with you King Reilly. I watch Days since the end of 1995 and I didnt care about Maggie at all (because she wasnt on that much, and she hadnt anything to do), but since the serial killer storyline I LOVE HER. I didint miss her in the 8 months she was gone, but since she's back (we are in September 2004 here in the Netherlands) I love her again, and I dont understand why she doesnt get more story. She's so fantastic.

Let's hope John Clark returns for like 2 months to end his roll as Mickey and give Suzanne a great story.

About recurring. I know Cady McClain was recurring for ATWT almost all the time she was a member of ATWT. I know that's different then being burned back to recurring, but she was on tv more than other contract members.

Yes she did but that was her decision. She did not want a contract with ATWT, but ATWT wanted her to have one. They wanted a committment from her but she didn't want to give them one.

Most actors and actresses don't like recurring because it costs them a lot. For instance look at the fuss Anna Lee made when she was dropped to recurring on GH. Her GH contract was her only income. Now all of this is the same as corporate downsizing and all. It is not something any of us would want to happen to us. The performers don't like it either. It's even worse than being part-time on a job, because when we are part-time we have a certain schedule even if we don't have benefits. With recurring there isn't even a schedule. They just call you when they need you.

I don't want them to fire Rogers or Reynolds and any of them and not ever use them but at the same time I feel for them. I also see that if Days puts them on recurring there are no guarantees that we will ever see them or if we do when we might stop seeing them. Take for instance OLTL with the characters of Dr. Larry Wolek and Addie Cramer. Both used to appear frequently as recurring characters, but all of a sudden they are never there anymore. Obviously both are still supposed to be in Llanview, but Blair never mentions her mom and Larry is always at work at the hospital but never around. Michael Storm I think chose to go on recurring but I don't think he thought he would never work again either.

Also with recurring there is the danger that a beloved performer will get a new job. It is harder esp. for actresses Suzanne Rogers age or actors James Reynolds age but it can happen. For instance, GL chose to put fan favorite and Emmy winner Jerry Ver Dorn on recurring. Since most shows don't hire actors his age these days they probably felt Jerry would be there, but wrong OLTL snatched him up and hired him as Clint. OLTL also put Emmy nominee Ilene Kristen on recurring. She is a fan favorite on the show, and occassionally they still use her, but several shows have met with her. She has also met with Days about joining the show. So far nothing but she did meet with Corday.

Sometimes recurring works to performers advantages. For instance, Cady didn't have a contract to deal with at ATWT when AMC came calling again. So she could easily go back to them. Ver Dorn didn't have one and didn't even have to let GL know he was going to OLTL. When Y&R called Susan Hayes last year to appear for a short stint as Joanna, she didn't have to let Days know because she had no contract. So there are some advantages, but for the most part it hurts the performers more.

As I said before recurring is just another way of saying fired. It is just a word I have seen elsewhere descibed as a term the producers created to make it sound better in press releases. If they say recurring then most fans think the performer is not being fired but in essence they are. It is the same.

Once again I ask the question, how would any of us feel if our boss told us we are putting you on recurring with the company? (no benefits, no guarantees of when you will work, when you will stop working, no guarantees of anything?)

Suzanne is a great actress and deserves some screen time. But DAYS has such a large cast, it's only natural she would be one of the first to go to recurring. I remember when she was only trotted out to be a guest at weddings, and that was such a shame.

I would love for her and Lucas to re-establish their bond. The scenes she did with Bryan Datlillo when Lucas was going through alcoholism were great.

I can think of some people that need less screen time *coughMimicough* than Maggie.

DAYS should try their darndest to get John Clarke back recurringly at least as Mickey Horton. If not, then bring in someone like Jed Allan or Nicholas Pryor (ex-Victor Collins, PORT CHARLES) as Mickey on contract. And DEFINITELY keep the magnificent Suzanne Rogers on contract as Maggie.

If they can't get John Clarke back as Mickey, they shouldn't waste their thinning budget on a recast.

I can see them firing her completely. They did it before. Helllooooooo? I am one of the FEW (and correct ;)) ones who thinks it was the intention all along to bring them back, but the show did last 8 months without her.

Unfortuntely, Maggie and Rogers are hardly a necessity for DAYS' survival/existence. Sucks because Rogers is without a DOUBT, my favorite vet.

Ya, but the show sucked those eight months she was gone. Just my opinion. :P Anyways, if the budget cuts claim some contract actors, I'm sure they'll all be offered recurring. That's not as bad as it sounds. GL got away with recurring players for a while and some of the recurring players had more scenes than the contract ones did. (And Cady when she was on ATWT, too. Good point.)

Well it depends on the actual budget whether they will even have the money for that many recurring players. EricaKane fan has already stated her sources said the budget cuts were in the millions. Even if they get rid of alot of heft contract players and then force the others to take big pay cuts, there may not be enough money to even bring them in that often. They will still have to pay them when they bring them in.

I mean unless they get people like Hall, Reckell and others to take big cuts, it will take a lot of money to continue to pay them. And then you add getting an Emmy winning writer to come aboard plus the other writers the rumors are telling us.

If Days has been cut in the millions and Sony does not make it up, then even recurring performers might be cut big time, and just brought in for very special occassions like holidays, weddings or funerals.

GL got away with showing their recurring characters more often because they got rid of some hefty contract players even after they put some on recurring and then Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman and a couple of others are the only bigger salaries they possibly even have.
