Bill and Hayley’s set pisses me off it’s so awful. We’re supposed to believe that this is the living room of some high powered lawyer’s mansion.

Absolutely. And the fact that when they show the exterior establishing shot, its huge.

Among my many objections are the books in the bookcases. They look like something out of the 19th century-all leather bound classics. Some stacks of glassy fashion/photography bools would make more sense.

I hate when floorplans of houses make no sense.

In both the Richardson and Hamilton house, people enter the living room via a corridor. So you come in the front door and walk through a narrow hallway? Huh?

I found Nicole's house bland but at least it appears more spacious-especially with the adjoining office.

Jacob might be the finest man on the show @Cheap21.

Yes indeed. I like that Jacob is dressed more basically/conservatively compared to say Andre or Martin. More befitting the character-just ordinary shirts/pants. And he still manages to look hot.

I also like that they are using proper police procedures eg the evidence required to snare Leslie. Makes for interesting story. Unlike other shows where DNA is released in an episode, confessions are taken w/o proper warnings etc

Got to watch the Nicole and Ted scenes from Friday and I genuinely felt nothing. I see zero chemistry between nuTed and Nicole.

We've gone from Turtleneck Ted to Turtlehead Ted.

I do think creatives should listen to overwhelming/trending feedback from audiences so they're not totally tone deaf and can write to what's actually resonating with audiences

I wonder if there is an objective way to do that. We know fanbases can make more noise than necessary, so it's hard to understand exactly what the overwhelming feedback is really.

Also, sometimes things are dropped for weeks before it gets revisited - that kills story momentum. I don't need the same conversations every day, but when you go multi episodes without revising something, it does make it harder to want to invest.

Precisely.
For instance: does Dani still have a drinking habit? lol Was it dropped or is it just 'rotating'?
It'd help if they at least showed the secondary characters (ie Marcel) in the weeks where their story is not frontburner. We hadn't seen the guy in months.

-- When busboy Kenny said "Your people all look alike," I cringed. That was intentional, and I ated it. If BTG wants to tackle racism and racist statements, then do that. This was not it.

Vernon asked Kenny what he meant, and his response was about the Duprees having a large family. It made no sense, and that made it clear to me that someone just wanted to throw the "your people" insult into the script for no good reason.

I expect better from this show.

Huh?
I don't understand your criticism. That was supposed to be a hint that Kenny is a racist.

Further comments on this week:

- every episode was sleep-inducing except Friday;

- I think the plotting of Martin's secret has been a complete mess, with people still unsure who between Martin, Vernon and Anita knows what and how.

- Copaganda Jacob and his constant chip-on-shoulder, holier-than-thou attitude is obnoxious. Plus he's such a useless detective, he gets out-detected by all of his family.

- I zone out every time Haley is on. I swear she's had the same scenes since the start of the show. Please get her out of that tacky living room.

- Madison must be mentally unstable.

Two things on my wishlist for BTG are

1) make it feel more like a soap. I know that they want to give the show a different feel from the traditional soap, but sometimes I don't feel like I am watching a soap opera. Where is the drama and the tension. It feels like things start to build to fizzle out quickly or turn out to be a non-factor. Where the the tense shots and dramatic cuts to commercial.

2) more modern storytelling. I mean while the LGBTQ stuff is progressive for a soap, it still lags behind other media.  The rest of the stories are basic soap storylines, which are fine. I believe those are important and should be done well also. However, there is such a dark side to being an influencer and on social media. Tyrell's boxer picture which didn't amount to all that much could have easily been a Chelsea story where she sold suggestive content to a fan or maybe she could have a stalker or even an OF that pushes her to do more than she would like. I have read so many stories about how crazy it can get. Perhaps, the stalker thing might be where they are going with Madison. It would have also been interesting to maybe see Smitty and Martin go through the adoption process rather than already have grown kids.

I don't mind that they are making Kat hold off for the right one, but this is a soap. Pretty soon she will have a roster as long as everyone else on the show. While I get her holding off on the sex, this 20 year old doesn't even want to kiss...like girrllll.

One of Smitty's first reporting assignments was to investigate the dark side of influencers.  I thought they were going to tie Tyrell's storyline into that, but they didn't, so I guess they were introducing the theme of social media in simultaneous storylines but not connecting them?  It seemed like Smitty's investigation was dropped, at least for now.  I thought Smitty would uncover something from Chelsea's social media influencer network, maybe trafficking?  Maybe his investigation into all that will pick up later in the summer after the Martin reveal.

I did wonder about the two party planners who recur -- they planned Chelsea's fashion show. Later, Eva met with them about the anniversary party catering and invitations.   At first I thought they were influencers that Dani was meeting with, to spread the word about the fashion show, but I guess they're just party planners?  Maybe that will tie in later.

That's a good point about Madison, she has been following Chelsea on social media for a long time, yet she asked Chelsea not to check her phone.

In regards to the Chelsea/Madison story and people saying that the two are moving too fast, there is a stereotype within the LGBTQ+ community where when two cisgender females start to date.. that date #2 or date #3 will involve a Uhaul.  In other words, F/F couplings tend to move at a lightening speed so I'm not at all surprised that the two have quickly moved into girlfriend territory... and Dani isn't helping that at all with her OTT fawning over the two.

What would be an interesting element to take with the Chelsea/Madison story is to really lean in on the statistics that I've heard in regards to F/F couplings... which are that divorce rates are higher for F/F marriages and that domestic abuse is higher in F/F relationships then in M/F and M/M relationships.

So I hope that the vibe I'm getting about Madison being 'too good to be true' does come to pass, but I have a feeling the show might not want to go there because there's little to no representation of LGBTQ couplings on daytime tv.  And so far, the soap seems to be playing too safe, but it's also a brand new soap so I can understand them wanting to play it safe until they get more momentum.

And also, Kat wanting to wait before sleeping with Tomas is actually more the norm for Gen Z women in 2025 so I do applaud the show for reflecting that reality... and having Eva basically indicate interest in Tomas will hopefully result in something happening with the triangle in the coming weeks/months.

True, there's a stereotype that lesbians move quickly in a relationship, but I don't think they're meeting each other's families including grandparents on the second date. I do think it is purposeful because they mentioned that Chelsea may be acting this way because of everything that is going on with her own parents and I do think Madison is hiding something.

I don't mind having Kat move slowly in the relationship. It definitely contrasts with the way her cousin moves through relationships, but I do think that kissing shouldn't be so awkward.

That's a good point, I've heard the U-Haul joke before. That just might be what this is intended to be and of course Chelsea is being written as someone who is easily attached.

I get it with Chelsea but there is something about Madison that I don't trust. She's a doctor and probably a little older and more experienced. Why is she acting so naive? I feel like she's hiding something. I want my girl to be happy but I'm not seeing it.

Madison claims she went through highschool fast and graduated early, and then went to combined university/ medical school.  She implied that she got her M.D. degree several years younger than the normal medical student would have.  But still, even if she finished medical school very young, say 22, there still would have been internship and then a few years for residency in neurology.   Most neurologists would be at least 30, she is implying that she's around 26.  -- so around the same age, or slightly older than Chelsea.

(Not sure if Madison's telling the truth or not, but that's her story)

I watched the launch of every new soap opera since Texas in 1980, and I think BTG has had the most successful launch of any of them -- in terms of general quality and writing.  I'm not talking about ratings here, just a fan's opinion of each show's quality.  Many of the new soaps in the past 40+ years have had very rocky beginnings with lots of mis-starts and recasts.  In my opinon, too much "course correction" can harm a new soap opera, because it makes the show appear unstable. The only two new soaps (since 1980) that I didn't pay close attention to were Sunset Beach and Passions, although I did watch the first week of both of them.  All of the others, I think I watched at least a month after their premieres, and a few I watched for a year or more.

I get that. I said the line was intentional. My problem is that after Vernon questioned Kenny, he had no response to Kenny's ridiculous answer. It made no sense that Vernon seemingly accepted that response.

I don't need to be hit over the head with comments on racism, but I need more than we got. Just my opinion.

Maybe Martin's mind blocked the memory from his mind, cause it was so traumatic?

But again it should be noted...well AGAIN...that we have not gotten to the episodes that were filmed once the show got to see all the feedback from the public collective so can we truly pick on the 'well are they listening?' discussion when we don't know for sure that they have not listened to what people here and online are saying about the show when we haven't even gotten to those shows yet?

It was part of the reason I semi-regularly forget and ask if we are there yet. And I have been reminded that should be around end of summer/fall?

At least it's not like DAYS where you had to wait a decade a year before there were adjustments.
