Beyond the Gates, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, CBS, CBS Daytime,

For the fourth year in a row, CBS will preempt the bulk of its daytime lineup all or in part on Tuesday, April 29; Wednesday, April 30; Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7 with the network once again set to broadcast UEFA Champions League Soccer games, which will also be carried live on Paramount+.

The only show on the network that will air without interruption coast to coast will be “The Price is Right,” which airs at 11:00 a.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT. Meanwhile, soap operas “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” will air uninterrupted on the East Coast but will be preempted on the West Coast (Mountain and Pacific Time Zones).

Like “The Talk” before it, “Beyond the Gates” is the only CBS show that will be fully preempted on all four days. In its place, the network will air “UEFA Champions League Today,” a pre-game show providing news and highlights about the UEFA Champions League.

“Beyond the Gates” will air original episodes on Monday, April 28; Thursday, May 1; Friday, May 2; Monday, May 5; Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9.

As a result of the preemptions, “Beyond the Gates” will air just six episodes between Monday, April 28 and Friday, May 9, bringing the show’s total episode count by that point to 49.

Except in markets where “Let’s Make a Deal” airs after “Beyond the Gates,” the game show will air without interruption in markets where it airs preceding “The Price is Right,” although select CBS stations can opt to air the program in a later time slot, including overnight or on sister stations. The same option is available for both “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

On Tuesday, April 29, the teams playing from the Emirates Stadium in London, England, will be Arsenal vs. Paris Saint-Germain, with Barcelona vs. Internazionale playing from Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday, April 30. The following week, Internazionale will again face off against Barcelona on Tuesday, May 6, from Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano, Italy. The rematch between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at Parc des Princes in Paris, France.

WTF. These probably should have been relegated to Paramount+ only. I thought CBS had issues with these last year with bringing in much lower viewership than anticipated.

They did. So they knock BtG viewers out of the habit of watching and also get nothing in return.

I mean...bright side...given the previous preemptions threw off the story momentum, this might readjust it roughly back to where it should be.

I will hazard a hot take that the audience will largely return. It's a different kind of show and the viewership is different.

Yeah I remember that. Maybe it's a contractual thing they have to honor?

A contract is a contract. CBS is required to air select games on the network through 2030.
