Louise Sorel would have been a decent Dorian had Elaine Princi not taken the role.

Princi and Claire Malis were really good as Dorian. I havent been taken in by Nancy Pinkerton's performance but I think I just need to watch more.

Agree. That was Y&R's second worst nepotism.

I don't know if any big soap names were considered for Ashley in 1988, but if a big soap name was cast as Ashley in 1988 it might have taken attention away from Bill Bell's pets Cricket and Cassandra. Remember 1989 was all about Cricket and Cassandra and the rest of the main females got second/third tier storylines.

I wasn't watch at the time but in the clips and episodes I've seen I enjoyed Brenda Epperson's portrayal of Ashley far more than I've ever enjoyed Eileen's. She's just so cold and it doesn't always feel intentional, it reads like "Why am I here?". Because on Days she's the opposite, she relishes in the most reductive non-sensical plot turns and dialogue.

Okay, I'll play.

Y&R:

I'd replace Jason Thompson's Billy with Randy Wayne (Matthew, the Bay). He's only a couple years younger than Miller and in my opinion fits the "type" of Billy Abbott. With a new Billy, I'd keep Billy and Lily separated.

B&B:

Robin Christopher as Felicia Forrester? I'd like to see her go up against Deacon and Bill. She could come into Forrester and want to take the company back as a "true" Forrester instead of Ridge and his kids (who are Marones.)

Tamara Braun I'd take as B&B's Kristen Forrester. If Zende is going to be on, Kristen should be around. (I also like the idea of Krista Tesreau, tho she's a couple years older than RC. Krista and Sean Kanan  as Deacon could be interesting.)

This has been mentioned before, but I'd be okay with Robert Kelker Kelly taking over as Ridge. TK has always bored me. I don't think he "fits" as Ridge either. He's always so "greasy" looking to me. Sorry. Ridge is supposed to be in the fashion industry and Forrester an icon and yet he always looks so...unkept.

Brenda Epperson was dare I say better than Eileen Davidson. She was warmer, had more sex appeal, and romatic chemistry with her male love interests than Eileen. Eileen was better as Kristin on DAYS for me.  Shari Shattuck however, wasn't all that. She wasnt terrible, just not right for Ashley.

    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
