Catching up on last week when Chelsea explains that her therapist advised against the suicide podcast. That's fine by me. I think it was a terrible idea. I'm just laughing that this show has gotten so boring, now they don't even show them recording podcasts anymore (again, not that I want to see that), they just talk about recording podcasts. It also occurred to me that Traci attempted suicide in 1984 and they did highlight that during the COVID episodes so production should be vaguely aware of it. It would have been very powerful to have Billy confide in Traci about Chelsea's situation, then be surprised to learn his own aunt had gone through a similar situation, and then Traci and Chelsea could have shared scenes. That could have happened organically.

Imani was better developed and had a clear agenda to not only make Nate hers, but also make him superior. Sly and cunning while compassionate with a hint of danger she was definitely more dynamic than her rival Elena.

Audra strikes me as a opportunist with no loyalty to any of her men so far including Nate, Tucker, and Noah as she had been chem tested with Chance & Kyle as well. At least Imani was loyal to the man she wanted. I like the actress who plays Audra, but for sure there isn’t much rooting value for a flip-flopper like Audra.

And yes, from the moment Imani stormed into Amanda's room, there was fire. And we didn't know a lot, but we knew she was ambitious. And she was everything you said. Even Jill noticed. I would have loved to see Jill take her under her wing. Imani wanted to be a power couple and had no problem trying to make it happen. She was fiercely loyal, too.

I like the actress who plays Audra, but yes, she does come across as an opportunist at best and a plot device at worst. Any attempt to humanize her like when it was revealed she was pregnant with Noah's baby and miscarried, but still loved him has just fallen by the wayside for her to be the community bike. And good actress, but that's a lot to play and keep it from coming across like a...plot device. So hard to root for someone when it's paper thin on motivation and what's inside the person.

Shamelessly thirsty at that.

It's been a minute since we had a good vixen.

I am so sad that looks like it won't happened Audra/Noah/Allie. It had some potential.

Apparently it is bad luck to be cast as a character named Allie in 2023, straight to recurring on both Y&R and DOOL.

Unless your real name is Alley (as in Mills) who was able to play scenes on both B&B and GH recently.

Well, dropping the character of Allie on this soap is dumb. And it shows Josh Griffith only had the intentions of using the character to prop to return of Diane Jenkins. Kesley Wang is a fantastic hire, and he has wasted her. And Rory Gibson going to recurring wasn't a surprise the moment they got Michael Mealor back.

I second this.

It also seems like they missed an opportunity to make her a specialist character, doctor, chemist, PR, she needs something to add value to the cast rather than just being a romantic lead.  I mean Abby and Lily as high school educated power-brokers is ridiculous, so it would be nice to have a woman outside of the business realm.   I also wish they wrote her with a bit more humor, she is joining this family that is totally nuts as an outsider, and would have been fun to have her react more often.

Allie was a chemist, as she had recently graduated with her master's in chemistry, and she and Ashley were bonding over their shared professions. But, with the Jabot lab likely no longer in operation, I believe we saw her more at Noah's tacky club than at her workplace. Even though they could've shown her walking around the Jabot office set in her lab coat, sharing ideas with Jack, etc.

I third it.

It does feel like such a wasted opportunity because she had been nicely developed up until now. I liked her bonding with Traci and having major similarities to Ashley. They could have gone more into that even moreso since she wanted to prove her worth in business and not just have it handed to her.

I think her humor was coming along slowly. I definitely would have love to see more reactions out of her to what is going on with the Abbotts. She could be the Marilyn Munster if you will.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
