First of all... @janea4old Mr. Zac Tinker is SINGLE  *starts to fix his hair*

Second of all...I saw the tribute episode. God, I could watch the Abbotts all day sometimes. I loved that Ashley and Traci invited Allie out to let her learn more about them.

And those flashbacks!!! I loved the Traci vs Lauren rivalry (including when Lauren finally apologized to her...a scene I had heard of but never seen was shown). I love seeing Danny. I loved seeing early Brad/Traci. And then all of Ashley's scenes. It has been clear that Ashley was so John's daughter, but I rarely see early Ashley scenes so I was eating ALL of that up. I could see why Bill Bell liked to write for her. She was a great muse to write to.

I do admit that the last 30 minutes had some funky dialogue for me, but overall I liked it all.

Still no word if there is going to be a special episode for Jess Walton's 35th anniversary.

If there isn't then maybe during the 50th anniversary week there might be something Jill-focused, since Jill is the only original character left.

I caught up with DAYS and Y&R today while avoiding cleaning out the dishwasher.

Does Newman Industries no longer manufacture cosmetics?  They seem to have gone from a management conglomerate to a single industry focused family company.

I guess a media company can be headquartered anywhere in 2002, but am I correct that Newman, Chancellor, and now Victoria's company all producing online content?  That seems written by a person who hasn't listened to podcasts or watched YouTube in the past year.

LOL lord I doubt it would get that bad but then again maybe we’ll see Newman and Jabot move their HQ to LA just so the can film outdoors for be cheap.

Speaking of Newman ya the ping pong of who is going to run Newman is getting old, and I’m glad Nick actually made the point of how the constant CEO changes will affect public opinion along with shareholders opinions, something that rarely gets brought up with these internal power struggles.

Tessa’s medical crisis is horribly written PSA material.

I'd strongly entertain an argument that story-wise latter-days GL was more creatively interesting than YR right now but production-wise there are ways to go before we scrape that barrel.

But I fully agree that the current state of YR feels like the product of indifference by people who are OK getting by on autopilot for as long as they can get away with it.

Well, the "new production model" of end times GL was an amalgam of several things: CBS dictated that certain things would be done; a severe lack of funds dictated in another way things that would & would not be done; and the boots on the ground invented how they were going to manage this. Then, creatively, they had to figure out how to tell story in this new milieu. I doubt that Y&R today has as much forced on them. But, is there a "yet" hanging in the air?

As you rightfully said, I don't think there is anyone left over there that cares enough to force anything on them.

They are fine with the mediocrity as long as the fumes of the glory of days past keeps the show with decent numbers and they'll have no compunction cutting it loose once reality bites.

I think it's great that this year the Daytime Emmys were on broadcast TV, in person again, and that different people won awards & shows won awards. And, I find it very interesting that soap fans can pivot from being pleased about the awards to being thoughtful about the state of things & even embrace things we live with like mediocrity. Golf clap! Well said.

    • The way this show handled Nikolas' shooting Hayden, Austin's murder, the long slow delay to getting rid of Cyrus, etc. we're likely to have it revealed in a year when Nina is 3 weeks away from leaving and has had minimal airtime.
    • Interesting. I love my Roku.  No, I don't know. Who? I mean Disney def does. I would think a number of parties have stocks.
    • Is he still spamming demands that they hire the campy chick from The Haves and Have Nots? Or whichever show it was. I don't think it's an either/or. I happen to think Dana, Dani, Eva, Nicole, Kat, etc. are all great. Certain folks aren't going to be some posters' favorites and that's fair enough. But I would argue most of those characters above (and several others) have caught on with a lot of the online audience. I've even warmed up to Martin!
    • We get it, you don't like this show or the actors. You've said that over and over again, Mr. Vanguard America/VDARE.
    • Lol at the WSB hot guy asking Joss if she was okay with betraying her friends.  Of course she is! Chase coming in hot at Dante was a choice. It's also quite hypocritical since Chase is lying to him about Dante's own child and making Lulu the bad guy.  Talk to the grown woman yourself Chase.  Don't make Dante do it. Lulu and Laura had some great scenes. The Rocco/Danny party is obvious an anvil for something happening and probably the Gio secret coming out. The Willow/Drew/Nina scenes were kind of anti-climatic?  I get why Nina chose this path as the way to get rid of Drew, but will anyone ever find out Drew was sleeping with Nina?
    • I was reading the NYT article on Roku's purchase of FrndlyTV. As anyone who has read my posting knows, I think re-airing old soaps is an imprudent idea. However, I will admit that if large media companies are looking for more streaming content.  And, if advances in AI continue to make the digitization process faster and cheaper.  Those of you who want the owners of the IP to release anything in their vaults may have reason to be hopeful.  Because the makers of TV's want to get into streaming in order to encourage young people to get back in the habit of updating their TV devices every few years.  And, Roku's plan is market exclusive content, that you have to buy a Roku device to view.  And you-know-who has a ton of content to sell.
    • This was  the messiest hour of television I’ve seen since Kenya Moore asked “who is this hoe?”
    • details of the current Health Secretary RFK Jr's insane beliefs - Doesn't believe that germs cause illness; suggests HIV doesn't cause AIDS; suggests antidepressants are behind mass shootings; believes that vaccines are harmful; suggests chemicals in water are changing children's gender identities... and is quick to promote supplements to prevent and treat diseases, such as recently recommending vitamin A for measles and falsely claiming children who die from the viral infection are malnourished. https://arstechnica.com/health/2025/04/rfk-jr-s-anti-vaccine-stance-is-rooted-in-a-disbelief-in-germ-theory/

I missed the reference at the time, but those DAYS writers really like jokey character names.
    • Unfortunately they are not using this goddess to her potential.
