I really want to be a fly on the wall when JG and Morina lay out their “vision” of the show.

Maybe over drinks on a Friday night.

There seems to be no long term plan.

This Keemo story is a perfect example.

Jacks place on the show had run down to nothing.  Out of the blue the Keemo story begins.

This should have been planned months ago. Jack should have made references eg just dropping in a mention when Jack was befriending Tara and they were talking about family. Some mention at Christmas etc

Viewers who've been watching for a few years would wonder if this is a retcon.

CBS at least tried in primetime, with Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0) and David Lim (SWAT).

His mother is Indonesian and Dutch.

Yeah, they also paid them way less than their white costars.

What’s the tea with PB and keemo? I heard he didn’t approve

Allegedly, PB felt that Jack's sudden military stint in Vietnam was incongruous with his established history.

Well….I’m guessing this is some insight as to why Bergman agreed to this story

I can’t.

I hate this show.

I predicted last week that Keemo was dead and this is his son or maybe even daughter.

So will MS Phyllis also be giggling over Keemo’s death the same way she was giggling about Luan being deceased? 🤢

Not surprised at all. It is a waste, but I am glad if they actually invested in children.

I haven't commented about the lack of Jill since hearing about Jess' husband's cancer. I just think we should all be sending her good will and realize that she's struggling right now. The best support to give her until she announces her willingness to return in whatever capacity.  For now, Jill's pop-ins work for me.

Maybe part of the reason she is struggling is that she is isolated up their all by herself. Y&R was like her family for decades and now she seems to have lost that too.

She's never going to announce a willingness to return unless she's been offered a story or a place at Y&R. And Josh Griffith didn't use her when she was ready and willing to go years ago. Jess Walton rented an apartment near the studio after MAB was let go and JFP said she'd use her. But Josh Griffith didn't write her in so she gave it up. It took Sally Sussman and Chuck Pratt to write her into anything.

It’s entirely predictable re: Keemo. But it’s such a waste (and a slap in the face) to keep such a potentially vital character off the canvas for 25 years only to do this. So much we didn’t get to see play out, including any interaction with Kyle. Maybe it’s all for the best, as the dreadful writers/producers

Y&R has had over the course of those years would have likely destroyed the character, just like they’ve destroyed countless other characters. Keemo absolutely would have died at the hands of Patty, Diane, Kelly, or any of the other loons who have been in Jack’s midst.

So at some point in the last 25 years Keemo

had a family. His death is going to be used to introduce his daughter to the canvas. Any mention of a widow, other children, or even his sister Mai?

JG just gets worse and worse. There's really no reason for me to ever return to regular viewing where this show is concerned. As someone who grew up watching Y&R, it should feel sad but at this point, I feel nothing but indifference. I really am just here for the comments when I visit this thread. You all keep it lively enough to keep my interested because it sure isn't the actual stories on this show.

Okay, putting back on my fanfic writer's hat...

Jack welcomes his granddaughter, Allie, into the Abbott family fold.  Feeling guilty that he and Keemo were estranged for many years, Jack is determined to make Allie a part of the family business as well.  While working at Jabot, Allie comes up with the idea of launching a new cosmetics line targeted especially at AAPI women.  Jack thinks Allie's is a fantastic idea and wants to shepherd the project.  However, Allie is just as determined to make a success of the new line on her own.

Chance becomes involved with launching Allie's new line, and the two bond over their separate issues: Allie, over her troubles in connecting with the rest of the Abbotts; and Chance, over his lingering PTSD and his strained marriage to Abby, who is becoming increasingly focused on baby Dominic's well-being.  One thing leads to another, as they say, and Chance and Allie end up having an affair.

Chance and Allie do their best to keep their affair a secret from everyone.  However, on the night of the official launch party for Allie's new line, Abby discovers the truth.  Abby confronts Chance and Allie; Chance admits he has fallen in love with Allie; Abby tells Chance their marriage (and Allie's career and place in her family) is finished.

Abby takes off with Dominic in her car, but swerves to avoid hitting a deer, loses control and ends up crashing into a ditch.  Dominic Abbott Newman Winters Cudahy Chandler Spaulding von Halkein Chancellor survives, but Abby doesn't.  And once everyone else knows about Chance and Allie's affair, an emotionally unspooled Ashley - who will begin hallucinating that her daughter is still alive - will vow revenge against Chance and Allie for causing Abby's death.
