Billy's revenge plot takes an unexpected turn that could backfire, while Lily balances her role as CEO of Chancellor Industries and Billy's partner in crime.

Abby/Chance/Mariah/Tessa/Devon/Amanda
As Abby helps Chance adjust to normal life in Genoa City, Devon's bond with Dominic grows stronger. Abby and Chance find themselves in a real dilemma when Devon tells them he wants shared custody. Mariah will wonder where she stands in Dominic's life, as she and Tessa plan their future as partners and parents. Amanda's and Devon's relationship is stronger than ever as she uses her legal abilities to help Devon, but Devon is intrigued by Abby.

Nate/Elena
Nate and Elena need to do some soul searching as their relationship is tested at work.

Lauren/Michael
Lauren will recruit Michael's friends/family when Michael faces a professional crisis. Michael will realize everyone has an opinion, but his true love/soulmate Lauren will eventually pull Michael in the right direction.

Victoria/Ashland
A new year means new secrets for Ashland Locke when it is revealed that Ashland wasn't honest with Victoria before the wedding.

Victor
To protect his legacy at Newman, Victor will reach out to someone from his past as he tries to keep one step ahead and gather intelligence on his adversaries.

Goodbye Y&R it was nice knowing you. What a disaster.

January starts off with the fate of the Bridge marriage which is hanging in the balance (as per Brad Bell)

Steffy and Taylor worry about what Deacon's presence is doing to Ridge, now that BROOKE HAS BROKEN HER SOBRIETY!

Taylor knows Ridge so well and she did admit that she still loves him, Taylor allows Ridge a safe place to talk about his feelings and to show him love and support.

Taylor also is on the alert of Sheila's attempts to use her to further her own agenda.

Brooke/Ridge/Deacon/Sheila

Brooke realizes that history is repeating itself.

In order for Sheila to further her agenda, she decides to get closer to Taylor.

Separately, Deacon and Ridge try to figure out what is going on.


Two new characters are coming:

Someone's unexpected relative.

A new Forrester Creation employee.

Because of Sheila's evil plan to get rid of Brooke, Brooke has a crazy NYE which includes breaking her sobriety and partying
with Deacon. She wakes up in the New Year and she is wrecked with guilt and making some big decisions...should she cover up
or face the truth.

Ridge knows something is not right with Brooke; he asks the hard questions and only gets half truths. He stands by her side when
she finally admits that she drank alcohol while he was away.


LOPE Preview:
Brooke has now declared Deacon persona non grata at her home, and Deacon is upset at this new situation. Not aware of the
real reason, Hope continues to see her father to try to figure things out while supporting Brooke's getting sober again.

Zende/Paris/Carter/Quinn
Zende makes a big move, having Quinn make an engagement for Paris, and planning a romantic proposal.

Meantime, Paris and Carter are getting closer as friends so he finds himself in an emotional situation when he finds out from Quinn about what Zende has planned. So in the new year, Paris has a big surprise for both Zende and Carter.

Y&R reads like bad fanfic. The type of fanfic where the writer is averse to conflict and just wants every character to be happy and complacent in their own little bubble. Where's the drama? Where are the stakes? Where is the plot?

Josh Griffith really needs (professional) help.

I don’t understand why Y&R’s ratings don’t drop *now* of all times when they have in the past. Even people at home due to the pandemic doesn’t quite explain it. It’s holding up much better in the demos than many of its (relatively more entertaining) competitors, so it can’t just be an excess of grannies who don’t know how to work the clicker. It’s actually embarrassing reading those “spoilers,” and I can’t imagine who would be excited by them. Maybe it’s just comfort food? Ambient TV? Familiar faces like Eric Braeden keeping folks company? It’s odd. But they have zero incentive to make changes with the ratings they have.

Why would they make Sally and Chelsea adversaries? Don’t put your bad girls all in one corner. Mix them up with the heroines—Abby, Sharon, Victoria, Lily. Even Phyllis made some sense as a rivalry with Sally, but they’ve dropped that.

I see Carter/Katie is as over and done with as Finn/Paris are

After 31 years (give or take a few years gap due to international broadcasting rights) I said farewell to Y&R this year. Not just because of how dry it is, but mainly because the incentive is simply not there to make the needed changes.

B&B sounds lightyears better than Y&R.

I have been able to watch the soaps over the last few days and Y&R is so dull and lifeless - compare any episode from the 90s to what’s on the air and you would not think they are the same show. It is in a major holding pattern.

Jesus Y&R sounds so uninteresting. I normally just watch it as background noise when I’m working from home.

And, like so many others have brilliantly said, Y&R isn't suffering too badly in the ratings, so TPTB feel they can just coast on this boring b.s. instead of giving the show the shakeup it BADLY needs.

I feel like that's at least half the story on their current ratings. There's always been an element of that with soaps in the daytime of course, with people working in the home, but now more than ever.

I don't normally watch Y&R. But i was channel surfing the other day. All i saw were characters having boring polite conversations. In empty businesses. 

At this point, I'd even welcome a serial killer storyline.  Anything to get this show moving again.
