Ooof. Gotta hand it to John McCook. This is all so wrongheaded and done for shock value, but he’s committing to it and it’s almost affecting. B&B doesn’t deserve the actors it has.

Imagine submitting this as his Emmy reel and finally winning after 35 years lol.

Honestly at least B&B manages to put something on my screen that actually gets a reaction from me which is more than I can say about the other soaps right now.

Someone on another forum suggested Brad Bell was inspired by this movie where Eric Braeden plays the role of the stud.

Okay and elitist b_____ usually tend to be lawful evil. It's hard to describe it but I've seen this multiple times in movies and tv shows. They always come across as lawful evil to me.
I might be able to imagine Anastasia as neutral evil. I highly doubt she would be chaotic evil. Chaotic evil and chaotic good don't care about family reputations or the optics of certain things. Anastasia's bloodline obsession means she wants to keep things tidy.

What Are You Watching/Binging/Streaming Now?

And THE BEAR is making it easy to drag.

It's not that it's bad per se. I have laughed more than I think I have since the first 2 seasons. But as a writer...I can see what the creator is doing. I call it a regression progression...putting the characters in a situation where you get to see how far the characters have grown by regressing them. And there's an art to that...that is not landing HERE. And goodness knows it's quite meta. hehe. It's getting better though.

Which brings me to the other thing irking me...it's using the 24 hour format for the situation. I don't like the show 24 nor do I watch THE PITT (I know, minority). Outside of the occasional episode of a show I like or a movie where something takes place over a short period of time...it's not my thing. So you can imagine how this season is annoying me.

It's kind of insane that our options are the retired and elderly or someone brand new. These soaps haven't invested in anyone over the past 20 years?
If they can go a single episode without characters sitting in a restaurant discussing their new job/potential job I'd consider it a win!

Y&R hasn’t written one cohesive story in like 20 years (if not more). You can never go back to the Bell style, that’s long gone. All we can hope for is someone that actually knows how to formulate a compelling long story with decent characterizations attached. Nothing more or nothing less, but even that is too much to ask for in the current daytime climate.
