B&B lacks the range to do social-issue stories. Brad should stick to the trashy, outrageous stuff that’s in his wheelhouse. Scandals, sordid affairs, sex under absurd circumstances.

The major problem is that Brad fails to give payoffs to even the trashy stuff, certainly not since the Beth story concluded. He doesn’t give us the satisfaction of really good high-carb, empty-calorie TV. He writes little self-contained arcs that deflate and sputter at the end like a whoopee cushion, which perhaps makes the show more digestible to the casuals?

I'm glad Carter and Quinn weren't already dropped as I suspected would happen...they're hot together! Still...that should have been allowed to build more before the reveal. So many missed story beats there that would have made the reveal so much more compelling. Of course, same thing with the Justin story. That should have been building for many months.

I wonder where they are going with having Paris move in with Finn/Steffy. Especially right before his parents will show up. If Paris really needed a place to stay they could have had her stay at the Forrester Mansion. She's fond of Eric & the family as a whole doesn't seem to have an issue with her. And may even be "grateful" to her for helping reveal the truth about Quinn/Carter. But they are having her move in with Steffy/Finn. Hmmm...lol.

They need to stop having black folks sing on this show. I’m reminded of Timothy D. Stickney’s anecdote in the OLTL oral history. He said he pretended to be tone-deaf so they wouldn’t haul him out to sing at holidays and funerals.

    • Leslie having the nerve to show up at the Dupree House was pure insanity. Bill being revealed to be more ruthless than anyone would have thought was a good development. I have to imagine that will change Dani's view of wanting him back. The whole reveal was well done and Trisha Mann-Grant owned those scenes. That was most definitely material for an Emmy submission reel.
    • I agree, all the Guys Tux were nice. I like how they differ from each other and all stylish in a way. Awe, same. Can not believe I actually have enjoying a current daytime soap. Rewatching these episodes over the weekend as a jump back into Ryan's Hope and Santa Barbara. Agreed! Exciting times.

And it was pretty dope we didn't know that tidbit before the reveal.
    • yes I thought of the Renee party... But this is different because I'm talking specifically about the revealer convincing someone else to throw the party.  And the someone else complies, having no idea what the revealer plans. I'm wondering if Michele Val Jean did a first with BTG in 2025. But the BTG thread is already so busy -- that I thought it important to *NOT* clog it up with discussing this, so I brought the question here instead. That way, if other reveals come up in conversation, it's not a problem on this "general retro soap" thread.
    • Well, good that they showed Vanessa though I wish she was there.   Lol. And here comes Naomi. AND an explanation from Jacob.

She is diabolical! Remember in this scene she offered Martin a brownie which seemed so random? In this episode its revealed that when he was a kid, Ted used to bring him to a restaurant where the waitress would give him brownies....that waitress was Leslie. She was playing games and trying to jog his childhood memory
    • Yay!!!!!! And made it ON TIME, TOO!!!   And this is giving DAYS reveals circa late 90s already.
    • Bish what? I was not expecting that, I was for sure expecting him to go after Nicole (He still can). Looks like Leslie put her out! I love these new developments, Eva Dorian Lording her way into Fairmont Crest. My good sis better trap that doctor.
    • It should be in its synopsis on the DVR description of the show.
    • Well, in a way DAYS "Renee Dumonde DiMera Threw a Party & Invited Everyone & Then Told the Whole Town Off" if you see what I mean. She definitely pretended that she was throwing this shindig for a pleasant reason while she KNEW her real intent wasn't pleasant AT ALL. And, everyone in Salem was targeted by her in this way.  I mean it was supposedly a celebration of her engagement. But, that is not what happened! I think it checks off all your boxes. And, before today I would definitely have called it "singular". There was nothing like it. Now, there's something not only similar but possibly .... more far-reaching? I was just struck by a thought. When MVJ was tasked to write a catfight, she wrote the best catfight that has ever existed. I'm not sure but what if she's done it again?!!
