To be fair, Carrie's hair wasn't outdated, it was just very 90s and seemed to follow every bad trend at the moment. I'm not sure that's on Christie or the hair department though. Hogestyn's was just weirdly out-of-date and pretty much once the mullet trend ended everyone started mocking it because it was so bad.

*gasps*

But seriously, I agree with @te.. Cuz 90s was not just the Rachel but there was also the Donna Martin (aka the blonde bob you mentioned) and what I liked to call the Brenda Welsh braids...which Sami was known to have every once in a while. But...all totally 90s.

Meh. Rachel Melvin's hair. lol.

Fair.  I was onboard until the weird late 90's stuff.   It just looked greasy and awful, but Drake just looked like he just never got a haircut ever.  There are times he still suffers from that today.

I always thought Ali had that long ass hair way too long but she was young and it was good hair.

Rachel Melvin's hair is still so funny looking back.  I like a graduated bob like Megan Ward on GH but she was on another level.

To be fair to Alison, she's always kept fairly timeless styles and not really given into any obvious trends, which has made them age a lot better than the styles Christie was rocking, who were all over the place.

MBE has been rocking that cut since her GH days.   It's an overall styling thing with her.  Her wardrobe is awful 99% of the time.  The whole package is pretty bad.

AZ is someone else who has always had bad hair.  There were moments when she grew it out a bit where it looked okay, but it's never been good.

I remember being so happy when she cut it off and it was still really long.  My 90's Sami memories mostly consist of her having that long, long braid down her back.  But overall, Ali has been okay with hair.  People like KA, Renee Jones, Eileen Davidson, etc. come out looking fine from the 90's because they stuck to fairly basic styles.

Missy and Deidre both cut their hair off in the mid-90's and I hated both of their cuts.  Deidre had such nice hair in the cage and then she cut it off and it made her look instantly 20 years older.  It was a real toss up between John/Marlena for worst hair circa 1997.

I am not going to lie when I re-watch Paris, I am like is it so bad Marlena?  Your wardrobe and hair are AMAZING and your golden cage is bigger than my dining room lol!  I loved the ball in Paris where Kristen just straight ignores her lol.  I love John at a freaking guillotine.  It's the difference between soaps then and now.  JER knew this was dumb but knew we knew.  Now things are dumb and they hope we don't notice.

On a different note, I was thought Rachel/the Lady in White was one of the most annoying characters in history.  All she did was moan and wail!!

I called that they were going to pull Ron's same Gigi/Stacey rewrite from the end of OLTL with this the moment they did it with Judi Evans' characters. I'm just surprised it's taking this long.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
