It does seem odd they are giving Alexis a special episode.  NLG is popular, but she's not TG or GF or even MB or SBu.  It's a great achievement, but it's not like Alexis has driven that many stories in 25 years lol.  She's had stories, but she's definitely more supporting than a lead IMO.   There are loads of characters on the show that have been on it longer that have never gotten anniversary episodes.  I'd be annoyed if NLG kept 'status quo' just because she got her own episode, though.  It kind of goes against everything she always standing up for on social media.

She is outspoken but she also knows where her bread is buttered.
It doesn't have to be a grubby deal or a quid pro quo - but a subtle way for producers to show their appreciation that she doesn't turn the way those men treat her publicly into a bigger thing. She speaks her piece but she also is the one who turns down the volume after she says it is not cool. She says "Let's work it out in private".
That's the mature professional thing to do and if I was her boss, I'd appreciate her being a team player that way. If she wanted, she could turn this nuclear because if that's the way they behave publicly, I bet the BTS stories could be career-ending for some of them.
So giving her an Emmy reel is an easy way to pat her on the back - and while Alexis has certainly been supporting, NLG is a great actress that can carry an episode.

i have to disagree. I think NLG is a daytime superstar who excels whether the writing is good or bad and who has been great on every show she’s appeared on. Supporting? No. I think she’s a lead.

I also think she’s earned this special episode.

Agree to disagree.  I don't consider her a daytime superstar, but I do think she is a great actress.  She does excel in pretty much everything she is given, but she's not given that much.  I have to say she is supporting to me.  She has definitely had years where she has had major stories, but she has also had a lot of time doing little to nothing or in a very B story.  She's never had a breakout pairing.  I don't know.  I would consider Julia on SB the role that made her famous and Alexis is just a role she's played longer.

Don't get me wrong, I am fine with her getting an episode for Alexis as opposed to the usual suspects (Jason/Sonny/Sam/Carly), but I guess I just don't see why Alexis deserves one when many other characters anniversaries were ignored.  In the scheme of things I have no problem with it, but I definitely think it's strange.

During the JFP/Guza era, I considered Alexis a lead.  She has been on and off with Valentini at the helm.

To Nancy’s credit, she has been given a lot of clunker stories in the last 25 years, and managed to bring a character to life that was barely a sketch and was mostly defined by her, not the writing.  And when she is allowed to be Alexis- witty, deadpan, smart, exasperated and playing off good scene partners she is still fun to watch.  But morose for years on end is just a waste of what she brings to the show.

It’s sort of amazing: NLG and Lauren Koslow are the only women born before 1960 who’ve been reasonably  consistently written for (if not always written well, NLG rarely)  on soaps over the past several years.

Cyrus is such a lukewarm villain. This show used to be so good at baddies.

    • IIRC, FC reruns aired for awhile on Lifetime, way before the network became the Women in Peril Channel, lol.
    • PAM!! YES!!! You have jogged my memory. She worked at Cedars. She's mentioned in a write-up of Tim's history in the show. It says she was a nurse, but I seem to remember she was a secretary at Cedars, working for either Ed or Sarah. (It's almost 50 years ago, so I definitely could be wrong). I'm certain she was an unwed mother. I recall reading an interview with the actress, Maureen Silliman (I looked it up, that's her correct name, LOL). She started on the show just before the Dobsons started writing it. She was shocked to get a script that said her character had been pregnant since she hit town. I remember a scene where she told Tim she was going to leave SF for a better job for her daughter's sake (really, I think she was upset he was serious about Rita). I don't remember them getting married and leaving town, but according to "Who's Who in Springfield" that's how the characters were written out. Mattson did All My Children for several years, so she might have been persuadable. Here's an interesting factoid I recently learned on these message boards: Elvera Roussel was in the running to play Delia on RH when the show first hit the air. How wild is it that Mattson played Delia for a while? (Though from what I saw of her performance, she was miscast). It's hard to know if Roussel would have been a good Delia. I would think she would have been better suited to playing Faith Coleridge, but who knows? She didn't get to show a whole lot of range as Hope.
    • If I were to do an EON reboot, I think I would start at the beginning, with Mike Karr leaving the police force in order to begin a new career as an attorney, and dealing with his wife, Sara's, crooked family.
    • I don't know if it was the writing or performance but I felt like we finally got to see the real Ted. Especially the way he talked to Martin when confronted, felt like a completely different person. He felt darker and like a total liar who was mad he got caught. I expected him to be remorseful and want to apologize to each and every family member who he came into contact with but he seemed like he didn't care. It completely changed how I view him and it makes me wonder if this is the direction they're going to take Ted in with the recast.
    • Tessa clarified a few years ago that she is gay and not bi.   I find it offensive that the show is teasing her with Daniel. Mariah told Sharon she went emotionally/mentally to a dark place, and while she was out of town on business she got drunk and did something bad.  But Mariah didn't say she cheated.  The show wants us to assume that, but she didn't say that.  She could have taken drugs or who knows what.  All we know is that she feels shame and doesn't want Tessa to know.  Mariah says the inner darkness is due to the longterm influence of Ian in the past, and she hasn't healed from that. With a *good* writer, we could have organic conflict in the Teriah marriage, without cheating.  But JG isn't a good writer.
    • Was that before his accident? I think it was. Most of us have never seen him before it happened.
    • I wonder if Falcon Crest wasn't seen as macho enough for them.  I first saw Dynasty on FX around 1994 or 1995. I think it ran for a few years, although I may be off as I moved and lost the channel for a while.
