Suzanne Rogers is taking a break?  I hope she's okay.  Maggie isn't the character she used to be, but I'd hate to think SR was ill or something.

Eric Martsolf last appeared on Passions 23 years ago. He turns 50 in July.

The guy looks incredible for his age — or any age. And honestly, I think he’s in better shape now than he has been for a couple years.

I love still seeing her meander around Salem after all these years. I even remember spotting her in that naughty gentlemen's club that Tony/Andre and Lucas would frequent back in 2003...  I guess that innocent Salem Place waitress was moonlighting...

I don't want to attack other commenters but it leaves me godsmacked that people would say things like that.

First it is obviously a bit bizarre on the merits since he is still in great shape and probably in better shape than 95% of men out there.
But even if he wasn't... what's the deal with saying someone's body "needs work"? You are welcome to not find it/him attractive but he doesn't NEED to do anything. He is healthy and married and talented and he doesn't "need" his body to look a certain way and fit a certain standard of anyone else's taste.
What he needs to do is be happy and healthy and do a good job as an actor. Nothing else. None of these actors (or actresses) need to lose weight or have six-packs or shave their chest or whatever else and I'd hate for them to think otherwise because some judgemental anonymes online feel like imposing their own aesthetic preferences on strangers.
Lecture: over.

I usually don't say this that much, but today's episode was BAD.

The acting was good for the most part, but everything else about it, particularly the writing was ridiculous. And with

I fear that tomorrow is going to be just as bad as today.

Yet at the same time, I feel more determined than ever to keep watching, no matter how bad it may get.

I thought the episode was okay.  There are just major issues with the Charlie story.  Or I guess maybe it's holes in John's story?  What ever happened with the Jan thing?  Is John getting treatment for his anger issues?  Or is Marlena just cooing at him to calm down? And Tripp worrying about things like Charlie getting custody of Henry?  That would never, ever happen under any circumstance.

This Allie/Claire/Charlie stuff and eventual fallout seems good on paper, but the execution is poor.  It makes sense Charlie has all these people after him, but everyone built up to "I am going to murder Charlie" in basically an episode lol.

The Ava/Rafe/Nicole stuff was silly though. And sadly, both Ava and Kristen were brought back not be villains but weak victims.

Yes, her character was named Bliss for that storyline. Yes, it's always fun to spot Jacee in the background, sort of like Where's Waldo. I think I most recently saw her at Eric and Nicole's wedding at the pub as one of the wedding guests.

Her real name is Joyette, so that's how they list her on today's "Judge Judy."

Idk. I guess it was just too much, too fast. Rushing something always ruins it. They were so determined to further ruin Charlie that they just shoved it all into the one episode instead of providing us with any kind of motivation or understanding of what drove this to happen.

And I do see lots of wasted potential. Probably the most I've seen from any actor or character in a while. Overall, I just don't get it. Why is he being killed off when there are other rapists and even murderers running around Salem playing the victim? I mentioned my suspicions about it a few pages back in this thread, but it's still disappointing.

I like MM and think he's a find as Charlie and at least as charismatic as RSW, but I do think it's Charlie's time to go. I totally get what your saying though.  Why kill Charlie, but keep Ben, Kristen, Ava and so on and so forth.

I do find it odd they throw Nicole into the mix of suspects, but not Lucas, at least not yet.

It's not exactly rushed either.  It's like they started the story, then dropped it, then come back to it, but it played out for awhile.  It's the pacing that's off.  I almost wish they go back to JER pacing:  A stories MWF, and B stories TTH.  Because certain stories play out over several days then are completely dropped for weeks.

In only one episode. Days hastily and clumsy. Not only set up Charlie's murder mystery. It also killed him.

Belle has been aged up into a hausfrau bc Martha Madison has always read too old for the part and is not a great actress. Beemer is serviceable but a clone of Bo. What a waste of generational characters - not that Shawn or Belle ever had much personality beyond 'white, under 25 and in love with each other'.

    • I loved today's episode....shocker LOL Dani & Andre were so cute and adorable. Vernon trying to cover his tracks with Anita, while holding his own with Leslie. And the pièce de résistance, Eva & Kat. Soooooo goood!!!
    • According to the newspaper columnists at the time of Mark Dante's return, Gerald Gordon had been a favorite of Fred Silverman, who left ABC for NBC and took Gordon with him. Silverman supposedly put him on a contract with NBC. Gordon return to "General Hospital" occurred after Silverman left NBC so Gordon may have been in need of work and he may have left Monty on good terms. His pairing seems very C-story at best based on synopses but maybe there was more to it.
    • I am truly at a loss for words about today's episode. I have no clue what they are trying to do or where this Luna story is going. I was literally dumbfounded.
    • I'm inclined to agree with you and I loved her at Santa Barbara.
    • I haven't watched DAYS in years, so I have some questions for anyone who can answer them. Is the show actually acknowledging that Jeremy abused Stephanie?  The things he did to her back in 2007 were reprehensible.  I wasn't watching too much when that was happening, but I seem to remember that the show (at the time) didn't outright label him an abusive partner and instead acted like he was just badly behaved or something like that.  Could someone who was watching back then tell me how they remember it?
    • It also strangely happened while the story was airing. You had a gothic and spooky story that because it got eyeballs ended up being dragged out and turned into camp. Marlena starts talking to herself constantly with that voice, she’s strapped to the bed for a never ending exorcism, would almost die multiple times during the process, and then everyone would just leave her there with Caroline Brady sitting next to her holding a rosary. Reilly had the show so segregated that when Carrie found out what was happening in practically her next scene she was like I’m praying for Marlena. Now what are we going to do about Sami? I don’t know about anyone else, but I would probably stop my storyline for at least a couple of episodes and have to go see my stepmother that had a huge part in raising me floating around with those eyes in her beautiful penthouse. It was just so stupid, and when it started I didn’t necessarily agree with the story being told, but at least it was taken seriously.
    • Yes, I feel the same way. I get the reasoning behind hiring him. He was playing a very similar character on RH, and they were in a pinch. I also found his accent very distracting. But then, Bev also didn't sound like she was from Illinois, and it didn't bother me a bit. That said, I've always had a great deal of sympathy for the situation he was in. It's never easy to take over from someone popular with fans, and how the TPTB were always insisting he was coming back eventually was another issue. Hearing he was going through it in his personal life on top of that makes me even more sympathetic. I found the article where it mentioned he had worked on both soaps at the same time. This was written a while after he left the show. Interesting that he was open to returning and that fans were asking him about when Alan was going to get out of jail. To this day, I don't understand why they kept Alan off the canvas as long as they did. He should have been there in the thick of Roger's return (without the dumb attempt to kill him), especially while he was married to Alex. To me, Raines was lacking in a lot of qualities needed for Alan. I think he would have been a better Mike Bauer.  They took five years to bring Alan back. They could have found someone better. No one is irreplaceable. Anyone who took over the role would have been different from Bernau. But somewhere out there was an actor who would have had the suaveness, intensity, and charm that IMO the character needed.

    • I did feel like JFP's Y&R was decent. Of all the recent HW/EP swaps, her period was very safe but watchable. Nothing spectacular but better than what we have now.
