I agree that the Kate/Jack thing has come out of nowhere. If the writers were going to go there, they should've been foreshadowing it much sooner so we'd think it makes sense and adds up.

I'm enjoying Cady as Jennifer. There's a bit more of an edge to the character, and with her in the role, they can take the character in new directions that they couldn't with MR in the role.

There does seem to be a missing story beat in these episodes though. Lucas should be at the party and enraged at seeing Steve there with the story with Allie and Trip.

Yeah. He had found her diary in the house that Kate had lived in with Curtis and Billie and Austin and wanted to turn it into a book and Kate wouldn't allow it because she wanted to keep her past a secret, I think.

From what I've seen of Deborah Adair, I really liked her too. Her vs. Vivian was a really good rivalry.

Back around when I first started watching US soaps, I absolutely loved and adored the family dynamic that Deborah Adair had with both Lisa Rinna and Patrick Muldoon, and I wish they could have found some way to keep Deborah on.

And yes, agreed on the Kate/Vivian rivalry - she played against Louise Sorel really well!

This Jack and Kate thing is just so so random. Do Kate and Jack ever even share scenes together. It just seems like a reason to make Jack look like a bad guy again, as usual. Next step is death obviously.

A lot of the emotional punch though is taken out of this storyline as Missy Reeves is currently gone and we have no history with Cady as Jennifer. They really threw Cady right into a big story.

I will say Marci Miller is a lot more alive this go round than her first time as Abigail. Hopefully she keeps this fire throughout.

I understand why people might hate this story twist, which came completely out of the blue. But I thought today's episode was really well done. The decision to just focus on this one story for the whole episode was smart, and I thought the ONS between Jack and Kate made total sense for both characters.

I also liked Kate's scenes with Jake, and I'm looking forward to the eventual Kate-Jake-Gabi triangle this sets up.

My biggest issue is that Ron had the chance to plant the seeds for this during all of the other time jump reveals instead of just making up a new story to be created through flashbacks all these months later.

It was well done but still annoys me lol

Yeah, due to the lack of build-up, it didn't really feel like soap opera storytelling at all. Instead, it reminded me more of old melodramas like Letter from an Unknown Woman

And I bet Ron just thought of this twist at the last moment when he was trying to imagine a juicy secret Gwen could reveal at the party. Although I guess part of the narrative function of the time jump is that it allows juicy secrets like this to periodically come out. Who knows how many other characters had secret affairs or even secret babies in that year we didn't see them!

They are so lucky to get Cady. She's so amazing. Doesn't she look so much like. Jamie Lynn Bauer's daughter?!  They should bring Laura back.  The one night stand twist is so tired but the episodes are well done. Now will Ron ruin Gwen and turn her into another Kristin, Hattie, Bonnie, Ava, Gina?

    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).

    • I did some research and the story wrapped up with Eric,a caretaker responsible for Georgina's death who then  tried to do away with Laurie but a vision of Georgina spooked him and he smashed into a mirror, dying of glass wounds. So there was a supernatural element. I wonder if the Brody character in the credits was Eric Brody?
