Haaaaaate the remix of the Corrie theme from 2010. Unnecessary is the perfect descriptor for it.

Speaking of Great Britain, it just doesn't get any better than this. That bridge - so atmospheric! It puts you right into the highlands.

I like SFT's smooth jazz early 80's opening. With the late Alison Steele  doing the voice over.

The recent Hollyoaks openings are so exuberant and colorful. Shame about the show itself.

The rock version of the opening reminds me of when the show was really firing on all cylinders. The John Paul/Craig era.

That was such a fun time to watch Hollyoaks.  I somehow stumbled on it on BBC America back then, when I still had cable subscriptions.  I peek at it here and there on HULU, but it hasn’t grabbed me like it did then.

I do remember the theme, though they would go on the do commit great horror on the theme tune towards the end of the show. As it happens, the show itself was never really for me.

It does remind me somewhat of this:

I missed this thread but I had to smile because just today I was watching most of these and even listened to Hold on to Love that was posted on the first page. Love it.

I know it's boring to some, but this is my favorite AW theme:

I liked this too:

I agree with you completely about your favorite Another World theme -- it's beautiful. When I hear it, I can carry it in my head all day. The update to it isn't bad, but I never really liked it because the original is SO much better, and it just sounds "cheaper" to me.

This is the 1996-1999 open for Another World -- the full version from its last years. Most people notice how ER-like it is. I love it -- it still sounds good to this day.

While that 80’s paintbox opening has it’s charm, it should have never been allowed to last that long into the 90’s.

JFP really tried in her short tenure to update the look of the show. Whether it was successful or not is another story...

AW best opening by miles. The rest were boring and so outdated.

I just hate the sound of the opening. A soap that does all of the slow, quiet, beautiful moments that AW once did could never do them again if it had to live up to a theme that sounds more suited for a action series about cops.

It reminds me of a classic like DALLAS had a theme song that was down right cheerful and fun and bouncy. Bobby and Pam even disco danced to a version of it in the original mini-series. Any show today that claims to be "like Dallas" usually has something darker, almost sinister, for a theme. It really affects the whole feel of a show.

Compare original Dynasty to the current Dynasty. They use a snippet of the original theme, but without all of the frilly bells and whistles, the fanfare, etc. it changes the tone completely.

I liked the closing to the 1996-1999 opening better. It was slower and had a smooth saxophone included with it. With the right opening sequence a slower version of AW's theme would've worked.

Yes! The first 45 seconds would have been perfect for an opening.

I've listened to that closing of the theme by Dominic Messenger before, and while I like it, I wouldn't want it as the open. It's just too laid back and mellow. Different strokes for different folks, I guess, because I LOVE the ER-style open.

I think it's fresh and dynamic, and I think it's one of the things JFP got right when she helmed AW. She tried to bring the show to a younger demo, and we all know how many failures come with that. Still -- for me -- this open is worthy of primetime.

I'm not a huge fan of the 80s ATWT theme, to be honest. I can't imagine tuning in when it debuted and having the original theme replaced by...that. It got a thousand times better with the new arrangement a few years later, but then it became synth garbage again in the late 80s.

The visuals were super basic - just the globe sliding across and then zooming out for the title card. The different nature shots in the letters for the 90s titles might have been random, but at least it did something. ATWT could have done that in the 80s with clips to match up with Edge of Night and GL.

That's how I felt about the 80s titles after first seeing them. Surprisingly I warmed up to them (the non synth version). I liked the mid 90s nature opening better though. With that being said my first memories of ATWT were the blue opener from the mid 2000s (preferred the gold version). The visuals wen't special but the theme was superb.

I also enjoyed mid 90s early 2000s OLTL intro. The shot of the newspaper stand with walking legs interrupting the shot gave the intro and the show an urban vibe. The closing titles and theme also made Llanview feel urban Philadelphia-ish.

Surprisingly a lot of people hate this but the satin red opener was a cool remix of Nadia's theme, and the red was a great 90s touch. The Y&R logo fade in and the ending portion which the show uses for it's bumpers now is the best part!
