I'm screaming!!! I thought I was the only one that recalled her brief stint as Carly. I remember watching but I wasn't really following what was going on BTS, online or on the mags, and suddenly when she appears in the episode it's announced "The part of Carly is now being played by..." and I was not feeling her at all in the role. It was such a weird transition for me...I was also still relatively new to soaps and I think I was just thrown that a major character was just replaced like that with a little announcement on screen but I equally loved it. Bransford was on a few months and then quickly replaced by LW which also surprised me and I was excited. I loved LW on GL and was hoping for a lot more but it pains me to see her in that role.

I would love it if they played an episode with JB's Carly. I feel like Maurice was super awkward in those scenes too.

God, even in a pandemic, we can't get far away from those two!

I didn't think JB was that bad as Carly.  I might be the only one who thinks that but she played CrazyCarly pretty well.  And she had an epic catfight with Reese.  So okay in my book lol.

During that year after Guza left for Sunset Beach and the show ran out of his story projections, I felt the Carly/Tony/AJ story and if Bobbie would ever learn the truth were the only good things happening on the show.  And it all revolved around her.

I think Laura has had some great moments as Carly- just few and far between with Sonny.  They lack chemistry, especially compared to the other two main Carly’s.

100% agreed. I don't like Laura's Carly at all. She plays her like an annoying soccer mom with very little depth, nuance or subtlety

I wouldn't considered 2007 classic even if a flaming bag of [!@#$%^&*] was on the screen for an hour.

There was one writer, somewhere before "Cartini" arrived to "save" the show, who I felt got her (although I didn't watch on a regular basis). They had scenes like Carly overhearing other characters essentially talking about what dirty trash she was, and had her humiliating herself due to her insecurity. Laura Wright wasn't as good as Sarah Brown, but I felt she did play those moments. Unfortunately 99% of the time, Carly is written under Wright as someone we're meant to side with. That was never Carly's role. Carly was an anti-heroine.

Totally agree. I honestly don't think any of the recasts have gotten Carly right. I pretty much went from her being one of my faves to not caring about her at all after Sarah left.

Carly/Tony/AJ was the only good story at that point.  Everything else was literally awful. SJB carried it well.

It's not the fact the LW is bad.  I think she's a decent actress.  She just has 0 romantic chemistry with MB and she's not Carly.  They should have had her play a new character because this Carly is just so off base of what Carly should be.   But I think LW plays off of other members of the cast pretty well.  It's just Sonny and Carly should have been a blip on the radar instead of the main couple on the show lol.  Is there a huge contingent of Carson fans out there?  Maybe, but I don't think it's enough of a faction to base an entire week of episodes on them.  I assume most people are like me.  Carson doesn't hugely offended me, but I really don't care about them at all.

Someone on here said that LW has chemistry with almost every man on this show EXCEPT MB, and I agree with that.

OT: I liked Cassie and no doubt she was popular, but it’s hilarious that for Amelia Heinle, Laura, and Paul Anthony Stewart, even as they all went on to higher-profile roles on more iconic soaps, they had their best daytime roles from the start: on Loving.

LW has chemistry with most of the cast.  Ingo being #1.  They waste her on Sonny.  MB has a very limited amount of people he has romantic chemistry with.  Very limited.  No matter how many women they throw at them..  LW is a much more versatile actress even if her preferred method of acting is shouting lol.   She at least knows her lines and stuff.  Which is more than I can say about MB...

She was great with Ingo, and she also had chemistry with Roger Howarth when he was playing Todd. Her hooking up with him as Franco was gross and stupid.

    • I honestly don't care if Laura is friends with Sonny.  She's been friends with him for decades.  The way she goes about the friendship is stupid.   She has no sense of self-preservation or awareness about the optics of parading her friendship with Sonny around town.  She practically celebrates it.  There's no reason in the world she can't just keep the friendship low key and explain they share a grandchild and frame the relationship that way.  A lot of Laura's choices, like getting into a public fight with Dalton, just make her look silly and like a fairly incompetent mayor. Carly is another PC lady that's starting to look silly.  I know she's explained her plan a lot, but it's still stupid and moving at a glacial pace.  If Joss is 45 by the time her revenge plot unfolds, what's the point?  Just dump Brennen and move on please.
    • On that same note, it's astounding to have mobster Sonny in the same office with Mayor Laura chatting it up about their mutual grandson. Think about the reaction if John Gotti and Mayor Eric Adams had a friendship

?? I guess the Logic behind Sonny & Jason acceptance is like when i saw a documentary where FBI agents said they'd rather deal with the mafia than terrorists or cartels---they're the "lesser of 3 evils". Anyway I'm about 30 years late on this convo.
    • Im confused. Does Jessica know anything about June's relation to Tyrell? At the start of the episode, it seemed like June was gonna slip that he was her son but she caught herself but later in the episode she referred to him as "my boy" and Jessica had no reaction like that wasnt a surprise to her No, Anita was putting money in the account every 6 months but we werent told how much was in it when Leslie became a beneficiary. The show has set it up that it was multiplying based off the interest so that its really worth quite alot now. I dont buy it but thats what they've told us
    • What was the point in Lori's return as Mrs. Max Hollister? That little story never made much sense to me.  Were there plans for a permanent return? Or even a new family with her as the matriarch?
    • I guess it depends on your device.  I can watch CW shows via their website on my Windows PC.
    • Ooooo A Liam episode? I'll watch it later today. They sure are churning the daily episodes out early.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.
