When new episodes return, it'll be back to tuning in like once every three months and barely paying attention to episodes for me. Thank goodness a lot of y&r content has been available listed and unlisted on the web. Hopefully that lasts!

Y&R August 2000-Ho boy Russell Lawrence was lousy as Carter/Matt. Y&R should never have hired someone best known for Power Rangers lol, thankfully we’d have Hearst step in shortly afterward. Larry’s return was fun though.

Phyllis had only been back less than a month at this point.

The Billy/Mac romance was great stuff and if probably planned it would still be a central focus on the show today. Thanks for destroying it Y&R

Rick Hearst was about 10 years too old to be Matt Clark. He should've been brought on as a new executive at Jabot or Newman, that might have suited him better.

The original Billy/Mac story was good but got ruined by recasts.

Any idea of what next week's classics are? Global has no episode numbers on their site so far.

I don’t believe it has been, the only 2000 episode I’ve remember seeing repeated before was Billy&Mac being named King & Queen at prom for in like 2001 or something.

Hearst was great in the role but I can see him being considered too old for it. I like the idea of him coming on a new Jabot or Newman executive though, he would have nailed it after his Alan-Michael days. I know the show was disappointed in seeing him go and had kept stretching it with his ghostly appearances.

Thank you. Not sure why the episode seemed familiar, may just have been something about the episode that felt familiar.

I think Hearst is wonderful. One of the bright spots when I watched GH. I actually wasn't aware he was on GL until fairly recently and I watched some episodes and he was a great Alan Michael.

Kym Douglas is correct.

I always felt there was something so sadistic about killing John Abbott a year after Bill Bell died - it was like Bill's avatar, Bill's link to the show, had to go. And then she went and killed off Brad and Colleen too...

Wednesday’s episode was fantastic! Who knew this theme would be so good? The Glo by Jabot stuff made me miss this show having a good teen scene. I also liked how Jill, Jack and Phyllis were involved (Katherine too) so it wasn’t just an isolated teen story. This could easily be redone with Charlie, Mattie, Reed and others. I still can’t believe those characters were wasted so much.

The highlight for me was the Barber-Winters scenes. The touch of having Mamie around added so much texture to those scenes, as well as the kids. And the adults were actual viable characters not just once a week like they are now.

    • Above, I said "Vanessa needs to go to therapy to find ways to remain healthfully lusty and sex-positive, but to stay away from anyone who would demean her." Now adding onto that thought, I would clarify that sometimes I think Vanessa fools around for fun in a positive way.    But other times I sense that she's actually unconsciously trying to demean herself as way of numbing some inner pain -- it's hard to explain what I mean.  Sort of like... sometimes people drink for fun. But other times, people drink  in a self-destructive way, in order to drown out some inner pain. So I think she needs therapy about all of that.
    • A lot of these episodes are available on YT. The rape storyline starts around February or March of 1979 and Roger's demise is sometime in March 1980. The stuff from before 1979 is close to non exisitent, unfortunately.
    • Maeve Kinkead was on from 1980-1988 (left in January); 1989-2000 (went recurring 1996-97); 2002 -For Josh /Reva's Wedding; 2005 (appearances in May and December) back regularly from Feb 2006-end Maureen Garrett was on from 1976-80; 1988-2006 (recurring from 2003 on); 2009 Michael Zaslow was on/off from 1971-1980 with breaks in between but usually made an appearance every year then again 1989-1997. There is a youtube commercial  Guiding Light in 1968

    • Holly's final big story was the Sebastian mess in late 2004.   Vanessa and Matt were promoted to regulars near the end and were heavily recurring prior to that starting around 2007/2008.
    • Keith has a softer presence, but it would have helped to see him be more aggressive or proactive in protecting them instead of standing around like a mannequin. A man the audience should be hoping and wishing gets back together with his wife. Nicole needs a new husband!
    • She needs to learn to be honest with her husband about her lusty interests because being sex positive only works if you're not cheating on your spouse.

    • Very disappointed in the writers in the way they are screwing with Nicole, Ted,  and Kat to make Leslie remain viable. So many holes everywhere.
    • Somebody brought this up elsewhere which emphasizes why this NuTed appears as such a weakling. Why is Kat doing what HE should be doing? And that's everything he can to rid him and his family of this crazy woman. Kat is doing all kinds of things she shouldn't do but now I understand her more. She can't count on her father to eliminate this woman because he's a wimp. He's been too busy inviting her into his home and serving her drinks and offering her invitations to birthday parties. WIMP!!!!
