Watching Malcolm’s first episode...Really enjoying the Malcolm and Neil scenes.

Wait did Jack get involved with Hope too?! What the hell? He named a perfume after her? Is that why he’s always been close with Adam?

I’ve seen Heather Tom’s Victoria in several episodes now and it’s like she and Amelia play two different characters. I also see more chemistry with the family.

Nice to see a 1986 ep. coming up, but it's still not early enough.  I want to see a creepy Edward episode, one of Victor's bomb shelter prison, crazy Suzanne Lynch, early Brock, the Pete Walker mob, and a few others.  All very good stuff and much better than some of the more recent yawners they've been showing.

That sounds terrible, lol.

If it's a romance week, I'm guessing this is why?

Chloe said that Kevin was her Ducky. Kevin didn't want to hear that. Kevin didn't want to be a movie character that was the leading lady's best friend. Chloe said that Ducky belonged with the leading lady. Chloe told Kevin that he was just what she'd been looking for in a man, including that he was her best friend. Chloe feared that Kevin hated her. Kevin said he didn't hate Chloe. Chloe asked Kevin to tell her what he was really feeling. Kevin said that he wanted Chloe. Chloe said she wanted Kevin, too. They kissed passionately.

Victor sends a car for Ashley to bring her to meet him at the *private* dining room at the Colonnade Room. He is wearing a tuxedo and she is wearing a beautiful golden gown. He speaks very passionately to her and says she is the woman of his dreams, the only woman in the world for him. They have dinner and dance. She opens a present he gives her, and it's a model boat -- an exact model of a real yacht he is naming "Forever Ashley". He says he can't wait for his divorce so he can marry her. They pledge their love and nothing will ever separate them.

Nick had convinced Sharon to ride horses with him on the ranch and they had arrived at a tent-like structure somewhere on the Newman ranch property. In this episode, they enter the tent and it is richly furnished, as if from a far-off land. She wonders where it came from and who put it on the ranch. Nick had prepared the whole thing. He has arranged for some  exotic costumes to be there for them to change into. After they change clothes, they enjoy a gourmet feast. Sharon says it's like a fairy tale. She thanks Nick for preparing such a romantic evening. He says they had considered going on a second honeymoon; but since that didn't happen, he is offering this special evening. They profess their love for each other and kiss. Nick tells her that he has arranged for someone to take the horses home, and there is someone watching Cassie and Noah. Special transportation will arrive to take them home later when they are ready. They have the evening free to be together. Nick claps and musicians begin to play, and Nick and Sharon dance.

Lauren puts on a gorgeous gown that Michael had given her. Michael is in a tuxedo. He is taking her to a mystery location: Michael had arranged for the Colonnade Room to be set up as a special casino just for them. They enjoy wonderful food and drink, and then dance a sensuous tango, staring into each other’s eyes, ending with a kiss. At the gaming table, the dealer flips two cards up which say "Marry Me!" Michael takes a huge diamond ring out of a box. Lauren is stunned.

Kevin is at Jimmy's bar with Alison whom he has dated a few times. Chloe is home in her pajamas. Chloe decides she wants to be more than just friends with Kevin. It is New Year's Eve, so Chloe dashes off to the bar to see Kevin. She arrives wearing pajamas, a sweater, and slippers. Kevin and Chloe admit their feelings to one another, and kiss outside the bar at midnight.

If if you compare the romance scenes, the Thursday episode is so different. Mon, Tues, and Wed are couples who are deeply in love and committed.  And their dates are epic with glamorous garb and totally planned out.  Thursday is a couple just beginning and it's spontaneous, and she's wearing pajamas and slippers.

I don't care so much about their attire. If this was Bo and Hope on DAYS and they reconnected after a long physical separation, it would be powerful and epic no matter what they were wearing.

I just don't see Kevin and Chloe as an epic couple.

Thank you thats what ive been saying, dont get me wrong 1986 is good but they need to show the viewers what was going on in the very early 80's.

There is lots they could have even shown when Paul and nikki were apart of new world so maybe some people will understand the whole ian world mess, or show Vanessa death or victor when he made Julia loose there baby. And crazy Edward with andy involved there is soo much they haven't even shown since its original run shows that material.

Agreed, but they have the benefit of still being on the show and together, as are Michael and Lauren (Ashley, Victor, Nick, and Sharon still on the show but not together; and all of them are still played by the same actors). And I feel like that "Ducky" clip has been referenced on the show quite a few times so they think it's epic.

I suppose if Cane were still on the show we'd get the episode where he and Lily imagine themselves dancing in a black and white film. I can hardly imagine what other post-2010 "gems" we'll get.

After going through Abbot week and Katherine week I'm very pessimistic about the chances of getting anything else before 1985. The only chances are an all Nikki week or an all Victor week. I doubt Paul or Lauren will get their own week.

I guess I will let go of my prior theories.

I see now that all of these couples have "romantic moments" in these episodes -- some have big moments and some have small little moments.

Mon June 8 (July 18, 1986)
Ashley and Victor - the couple featured in this epi.
Nikki and Matt - other couple.

Tue June 9 (June 7, 2001)
Sharon and Nick - the couple featured in this epi.
Mac and Billy - other couple.

Wed June 10 (May 16, 2005)
Lauren and Michael - the couple featured in this epi.
Mac and J.T. - other couple.

(Lily and Daniel are a couple but they are scared he'll be imprisoned, so no romantic moments today).

Thurs June 11 (Dec. 30, 2010)
Chloe and Kevin - the couple featured in this epi.
Abby and Daniel - other couple.

Y&R Sept 2001-I recall this was right at Scott’s tenure as EP was ending, with Nikki gone due to 11th hour contract negotiations as Christopher Douglas replaced as Sean by the actor in this episode due to Alden & Scott feuding.

That said another gorgeous ep and I was glad at the time that Lauren was back on Y&R again.

Cassie was such a wonderful kid to watch.

I was wondering if Lauren and Traci had an encounter at the party but I guess they didn’t?? I’m just glad TEBs hair was an improvement from  when she had it super short the previous Summer 2000 return.

I didn’t even realize Colleen was around for this party...always sad seeing her and Brad. Did teenage Colleen even act with her godfather Victor?? Victor and Brad were basically at odds at this point.

    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
