Yes, he does! And his chemistry with Tom was always as hot as he is.

This is such a great example of the fun Phyllis and you can still see that dark, scary undercurrent.

Always nice to see Doris. Such a unique presence.

Heather as Victoria was an absolute treasure. One of THE biggest losses this show has ever endured. She should be the lead of Newman by now, her own version of Victor. Instead....

This episode is a reminder of the softer, sweeter Victor and the beautiful relationships he had with his kids.

Totally. And you could see the kind of character that could have been. Powerful yet not sacrificing the vulnerability (edit: this scene at the end where she’s silently examining and intimidating Sharon is a great example) instead of this cowed and uncertain creature Amelia Heinle is playing. But then you realize how difficult this would have been for a new writer to handle, especially with the pressure to make her into a watered-down ABC heroine in the 2000s.

Same

Love the contrast as well.

Sharon Case was definitely green. I also wonder if it's how she chose to play Sharon. Maybe a mix of both.

I miss Karen Hensel as Doris and Crazy Phyllis.

I always lol when I see Karen Hensel on Mama's Family as Olga.

I remember watching in 1998 and just not really caring much about the Nina/Ryan/Victoria/Cole quad. It still rings true watching this episode. Meh. But I love Tricia Cast and Heather Tom so  they act circles around the men.

I like 90s/early 00s Michelle Stafford compared to the performance we're getting now. The quasi Sheila that she was back then was fun material.

Might be in the minority, but I enjoy early 90s Christine. I find her pairing with Paul bland though. I don't know who the best male character for her would be, but she was better with Danny. Paul imo had better chemistry with Lauren and Cassaundra. His secretary Lynn would have most likely been the best woman for him, but she's so nice and calm, there wouldn't be much material there storyline wise.

Nick and Sharon were cool in the beginning but they've just been pulled apart so many times they've lost any interest as a supercouple.

I think Nikki eloped w/ Josh in the fall of 1996. From what I remember, Nikki thought she and Victor were getting back together but then Victor went to Kansas to see Hope and little Adam (I think this was when Cliff was killed) and so a disappointed Nikki turned to Josh.

I didn't like that quadrangle storyline. Scott Reeves and J. Eddie Peck were not prize catches to me.

I remember Fall 1996 through to the first half of 1997 as being a lull period. I was watching once or twice a week and keeping up online and through soap magazines.

I thought Scott was cute in the early 90s, and he and Victoria were pretty much my first 'ship.  Feels like he aged quite a bit during the 5 years between the Masquerade episode and this one (from age 25 to 30).  I loved Victoria with Cole too.  The original Nina/Ryan/Victoria triangle was great, but this quad didn't work, and it got way worse when Shari Shattuck was added into the mix.

    • "On a shallow note" Martin gets all the booty from his Daddy, Ted is just as stacked as his son, LOL! I had to say it.
    • Lol! If Kat is going to do one thing, it's going to be give shade.   And of course, the Duprees would get into formation and team up. Sadly, I don't think they have anything on Silk Press Sheila.    Poor Nicole.   But loving it. I know I'm invested besides I'm seriously side-eying Vanessa/Doug cuz I want to get to the meat. And I love that every single beat is getting played.    Oooo Nosy Nurse!!!   OOOOHHHH so Silk Press Sheila and Nicole were preggers at the same time. And HA!!! The lawyer WAS Bill!  The acting is superb. Silk Press Sheila even toyed with Martin a little bit.   Ooooomg! Eva revealed.   Wait! Is it food posioning for Vanessa or is she with child?
    • Well, if you add that one caveat, oddly, it disqualifies Renee. Because she is one person who was both the planner (if you will) and also the "evil" revealer. Weird but that is THE difference.  And it's the only difference. But, sure, I think those words make it unique. THE REVEALER CONVINCES HER TARGET TO HOST THE EVENT. Right?  Well, if we nitpick The Revealer used her secret agent to convince their target to do this shindig. Yes. That's it. Because Leslie/Sheila/Sherry/Dana/Leslie/Mom didn't do it by herself. She HAD to have Eva doing her part.  Okay, run with that.  And, why not discuss it here? It's topical.
    • Hahaha!!! Not Naomi being sure Chelesa ain't filming this time!!!   At last! Kat is proven right!!!   And hey, Nicole's Doctor friend, hey!!!   So far...this is giving.
    • Leslie having the nerve to show up at the Dupree House was pure insanity. Bill being revealed to be more ruthless than anyone would have thought was a good development. I have to imagine that will change Dani's view of wanting him back. The whole reveal was well done and Trisha Mann-Grant owned those scenes. That was most definitely material for an Emmy submission reel.
    • I agree, all the Guys Tux were nice. I like how they differ from each other and all stylish in a way. Awe, same. Can not believe I actually have enjoying a current daytime soap. Rewatching these episodes over the weekend as a jump back into Ryan's Hope and Santa Barbara. Agreed! Exciting times.

And it was pretty dope we didn't know that tidbit before the reveal.
    • yes I thought of the Renee party... But this is different because I'm talking specifically about the revealer convincing someone else to throw the party.  And the someone else complies, having no idea what the revealer plans. I'm wondering if Michele Val Jean did a first with BTG in 2025. But the BTG thread is already so busy -- that I thought it important to *NOT* clog it up with discussing this, so I brought the question here instead. That way, if other reveals come up in conversation, it's not a problem on this "general retro soap" thread.
