Plots You're Tired of on Soaps

Worn out triangles and relationships.  Liam/Wyatt/Hope/Steffy - Insert extra person.  On B&B next - Brooke being a total manipulative baby-talking whore that never gets called out on it but berates everyone else for similar behavior, not nearly as bad as hers.  Now Hope is the same.  Ya got the man that Steffy gave to you, ya got the baby, ya got the marriage and ya still can't toss a morsel to someone yet they are the "good girls".  Logans are always the good girls. They're whores.  And today I tuned in at the end and saw Brooke goin' after Steffy....I wish Steffy would PUNCH her and then go hunt down her daughter.  I used to be a Hope/Brooke fan...fan of the Logans since the beginning.  Brooke can go now.  She needs to be killed off in a nice little murder mystery and let her be GONE.  Especially since she mentioned to Steffy - you SLEPT with your HUSBAND'S DAD!  And she JUST had LUNCH with him and conspired AGAINST HER OWN SISTER.  AND SAID...we can't tell anyone about this!

Back from the deads! No deaths mean sh¡t if you know they'll probably be back, no matter how they're killed off. There's no impact.

Also, barely legal characters and twenty somethings rushing to get married and have kids. 90% of the time, they don't have jobs, and I'm pretty sure that only 2% of soap characters have ever gone to college! Not even business school! Yet you want to start a family?!

I'm tired of these younger male characters dating women old enough to be their mother's on the show. When they do it the opposite way with young women and older men they make sure to tell us how inappropriate it is. It's like a rite of passage that every young male must have his first big relationship on the show with and older woman. For the most part I find people in their 20s date people their age.

I tell you what I'm actually truly tired of, certain characters having constant storylines especially when it rests on the same tired premise.

For example, on Y&R, the entire Victor vs. Jack feud is so thoroughly tired, tired, tired!  Since the show can't seem to write anything interesting for either of these two characters, other than the same old power struggle, someone needs to write an honest to goodness "War of the Roses" chandalier moment for these two.

I'm sick of disempowering female characters in order to "humanize" them.  Wealthy women find love with poor men in order to learn the lesson that money isn't everything.  Overpowering mothers loose their partner in order to learn not to set their standards too high.  If a woman is a bitch beyond repair then she gets breast cancer to learn the importance of relationships.

Stop making female characters lower their standards in order to maintain a relationship.

Iris Cory shouldn't have to give up her access to familial wealth to please her husband Brian.  Eric Forrester was not a good man for cheating on Stephanie because she was too harsh with the kids. And Katherine Chancellor should not get absolved of all of her past transgressions against Jill because she got sick.

Let a bitch be a bitch and stop trying to teach grown female characters lessons.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
    • There’s absolutely nothing exciting happening storyline wise but I’m always happy to see the vets on my screen so I’ll take what I can get. It’s also just nice to see them all dressed up in the same room, it always gives classic Y&R vibes. The best part? No Phyllis.

    • Well now we had Ashley's reaction-and weren't we all gasping when she appeared to hate it-but she was just joking!! She loved it. Now we have to see Abby's reaction, and maybe Mamie could come back to say she loves it. How about Jill via Zoom giving her opinion (she'll love it) and bring in a day player to play Mrs Martinez to say she loves it also... I feel bad to keep dumping on this show (not really) but when the choices they make are so inane, it's the only entertainment value the show has. Let's unpack the Nikki birthday story. So Claire wants to throw her Nana a birthday bash as away of endearing Kyle to Victor. Don't quite get the logic there, but OK. She hires a party planner who makes ridiculous suggestions. Slightly annoyed that Y&R are hiring someone for this role for 5 episodes when we never see doctors, co- workers etc. But OK to that to. With all the talk we are expecting something special. What we get is the Jazz Lounge hideously decorated with some ugly tablecloths and a few tacky decorations. They needed a planner for this? Then the guest list consists of family members (no grandchildren)and a few others. Hardly a party. As usual the costuming is pretty awful. A red and black theme ? And our guest of honor is sporting a do that looks like a cross between Cameron Diaz in Something about Mary and Marie from Roxette. They should have had an intimate dinner and ditched all the fanfare. Would have been way more believable.

    • Her accent sounds horrible and doesn't fit in line with the character or the dialogue. I was just messing around on YouTube and perusing early Tad and Dixie videos. Notably, Dixie, a resident of Pigeon Hollow, West Virginia, has no discernible accent. i have no idea why she would add a defunct accent to this character now. I want to do an honest survey here. I watch BTG every day and I love it. It's not perfect, but I find it 99% entertaining. For those that find fault with it - what is actually bothering you? I'm not going to argue at all, or disagree with you. I just want to know what others are seeing that I'm not.
    • It's a choice and today, she made it more British than ever before. It's almost like she's making Pamela act like how she thinks she should be acting.
    • I cannot believe there is a whole storyline about the Abbott house renovation. They really are grasping over at Y&R. I don’t see a big difference in the set. It is refreshed. Why make a storyline out of it?
    • Cady is using what sounds like a transatlantic accent which is so odd these days. Sharon's hostility is entertaining already. That look she gave Anita when she opened the door was pure attitude.
