On Season 2 of Crikey! It's The Irwins. I've never really sat and watched them or even Crocodile Hunter. But I got the urge to see cute and even not-so-cute animals in Australia. Now I'm kind of envious of what they get to be around every day.

How was THE WATCHMEN? And Season 1 of the Handmaid's Tale? If you don't mind me asking.

Meanwhile, I just got done with both seasons of SWEETBITTER. Having read the book first as well as working in the restaurant industry, I loved it. It made me miss my restaurant families and the fact that it took place in 2006 pre-sm, internet, etc, was a plus. Hate it was cancelled a year ago come X-mas. Ironically doing NaNoWriMo this year and it is about a restaurant so in my feels.

THE MAGICIANS SEASON 5 and LOVECRAFT COUNTRY are the next binges for me. And I still working through Season 1 of ROSWELL NEW MEXICO and KRYPTON Season 2. Not to mentioned SUPERGIRL Season 4...me and that season have a love/hate, but I want to be caught up for the last season so...:)

Oh, and...anyone remember the Kevin Williamson show WASTELAND. While it was cancelled on ABC after 3 episodes, it went on to be aired on a Showtime affilate. And that show is on a YT channel so I am watching that. Ahead of its time in some ways.

@Taoboi

You're in for a treat with Lovecraft Country.  Can't wait to read your thoughts.

I'm finished with LA Law and looking for something new to binge.  I began Carnivale last night but too soon to tell.  It's only 2 seasons, so should I decide to continue, it won't take long before I'm done.

Any suggestions?  I'm being lazy and don't feel like going too far back in the thread.

What did you think of Watchmen?

I've heard good things about that, released during one of the golden age of peak scif/fantasy/horror tv. Though if I recall Season One was a slow burn but Season Two made it worth it. If I remember correctly. I guess I would ask what do you think about Ronald Moore shows? (some Star Trek, newer Battlestar Galactica, Helix, Roswell Season 2...lol.)

And thank you about Lovecraft Country. I'm excited to start.

@Taoboi @ChitHappens I ended up really liking Watchmen! I had no clue about the story prior to watching, so the first episode was weird and random. Hubby peaced out after the first episode but I stuck through it and loved it. It was about half-way through the series that I finally pieced it together how it all connected. Regina King was boss as always, and on a shallow note, you get to see quite an eyeful of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

  I recommend!

I'm really loving The Handmaid's Tale too. If the thing that currently occupies the White House had been re-elected, I'd probably feel a different way while watching it, but I am enjoying it. It's one of those shows where you look forward to all the flashbacks because it helps paint a full picture about how they got to where they are today. Another one I recommend!

Starting In The Heat of The Night and I'm not gonna kid myself and say I'm watching this dreary show other than to see massive Bubba Skinner in his tight uniform!  Yowza!!!!!

S3E1 Althea's rape.  Wow!  Ann Marie Johnson is top tier!  Not sure which hit me harder.  Althea sitting in spilled groceries in shock as she attempts to "clean" it up or Bubba, her husband's co worker, walking into that scene.  It always hits me!!!!!!!!!!!

If you’re like me and you love Rock en Español (Soda Stereo, Café Tacvba, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Aterciopelados), or you have an interest in Latin American history since the ‘60s, this is wonderful six-part documentary on Netflix with lots of interviews, concert and archival footage, etc.

I started binging "The Masked Singer" from the beginning. I'd never seen the show up until a few days ago. I finished season 1 and just started season 2. Cute and crazy idea and basically a fun watch, even if I've never heard of some of the celebrities or guesses the judges make. The judges can be a bit tiresome at times (I particularly want to tell Ken to stfu at times because he beats a joke to death, skins it, and crushes the bones.) I was able to guess a few of them, though. Yeah, it's silly but it's in good fun and the celebrities seem to be getting a kick out of it.

    • @alwaysAMC Glad you made it to the soft rock theme. I share your disgust for the Gilly story, as many viewers did. Gilly was never a big character, but she was a part of why the early '90s feel real and different for GL, and she deserved a much better exit. This was also the last worthwhile role Amelia Marshall had on daytime (I don't even know if Passions fans would disagree). This was also Petronia Paley's only major chance at story and as someone who always appreciated her work, I'm sorry it did not go better for her. And I liked Charles Ewing a great deal on Loving, so I was even more unhappy with how they treated Griffin. It's a deeply offensive role, in many ways.  As for slapping, you may enjoy this, if you are able to find anything onscreen underneath all the ham. It really goes into hysteria in the second clip. As a bonus, you also get a quick glimpse of why the Billy and Mindy recasts were not accepted by viewers. One positive I will say about this clip is that it's one of the few times I remember the show making clear that Roger was able to defend himself if he had to do so.

    • ER Season 15 (first-ish time) BUFFY Season 3 (First time)
    • Probably less than a NBC or ABC soap. There were occasionally slaps. Women slapped men. And parents occasionally slapped their children. There was a period when Mindy and Roxie would fight. But slaps between women were few and far between. The only one between women I can really recall is Vanessa slapping Nadine. There was once where Bea Reardon almost slapped Vanessa, but she didn't. There are probably more, but in general, I always thought CBS soaps (aside from B&B, which used to love Stephanie slapping Brooke) shied away slapping, sort of the way they limited "hell"s and "damn"s to so many per week.

My favorite moments are with Erika and then Robin and Tim Stickney around 7/8 minutes. There are also little yellow bumper moments with the crew, which I enjoy more than the real ones.  There's also a music video at the end to I Will Survive, with Linda Dano and JFP having a cameo (they certainly do know how to survive). Also a fun bit with a frazzled crew member showing cards with the names of every EP she presumably worked for at the show.
    • I think in the long run they can probably get more out of Gio, even though I know GM probably won't be around long enough for it to matter. The show has a real problem on how to handle Nik in future, which affected Spencer. Laura is moribund and her role in Spencer's story didn't do her many favors. They would have kept Esme around even longer. A lot of Sprina fans would have hated GM as he was replacing NAC. And even the fans who did accept him wouldn't have mattered because Frank likely would have split that relationship up ASAP. There's a good chance we'd get a Spencer/Emma pairing, only with Emma and the actress playing her getting dragged on social media every day and with people calling her a racist.
    • I like the pool set as well.  It's something different, guys and girls in skimpy clothes and all that.  I dislike when they have characters in full on business attire having meetings there though.  That seems silly. The pool depth is also ridiculous.  They should just have characters sitting on the side with their feet in the pool if they can't shoot it correctly.
    • I also assumed Tanquir was in Africa. Montega was in the Caribbean, more like Cuba.
    • I got the impression Andre was opening up to Dani about his feelings, that's why I thought he was about to admit he was in love with her. Dani has no idea that what's good for her is right in front of her face. Tomorrow we might get a love scene set to an R&B slow jam.
    • No, he was pining for that walking sleeping pill Ashley, and then later texted Dani for a hookup when he felt lonely. He and Dani got into it a bit as she’s not ready to be seen openly with him still, and they both realized they were hung up on other people - Andre on Ashley (thought he never said her name) and especially Dani on Bill.  Of course neither learnt anything and then proceeded to have sex again.
