Members soapfan770
Yep Capitol was Conboy's baby! Very sorry to hear of his passing though, another daytime legend gone Please register in order to view this content While his divisiveness can be discussed in the Classic Y&R, Capitol, GL, and SB threads but for this thread I have to say you cannot ignore his contributions to the genre. His work and renowned lightning techniques contributed to the early success of Y&R; Capitol was a success cut short yet and is still well remembered; plus he also produced the cheesy yet fun "Judith Krantz's Secrets" mini-series in 1992. Members Khan
No, you can't. He brought a touch of old-school Hollywood glamour to Y&R and CAPITOL that others tried (and failed) to emulate. Regardless of however ELSE I felt about him as a producer, I certainly tip my proverbial hat to him for that. RIP.
Members Paul Raven
'The Ross Hunter of Daytime Television.'I think Constance Towers made that statement. He began on Love Is a Many Splendored Thing before Y&R, Capitol, Santa Barbara and Guiding Light. He produced those CBS afternoon variety specials and a TV movie 'Solitary Man' as well as the proposed soap Casino. In the last shot he is pictured with gal pal Ellen Weston, who headwrote GL when he was exec producer.
Members alphanguy74
He made Y&R so unique and captivating that it's the only soap I REALLY wanted to watch as a child, because it was the only one that didn't look cheap to me. It was the closest to a prime time show.
Members DRW50
Sad to hear this. I think Capitol will always be his crowning achievement. I'm glad that a lot of it has popped up on Youtube these last few years.
