Y&R has no interest in Sharon beyond her providing angst for Nicholas which is why he all but marked his territory when Scott appeared at Crimson Lights.

It's Y&R doing its best to keep Nicholas relevant especially since the pairing with Chelsea has been another major flop for him.

Because SSM's Y&R doesn't do character based writing.

Occasionally they get lucky with vets who elevate their writing (like the Dina story) but in general they treat their scripts like MadLibs.

LOVE all of this.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I love Hillary v Lily which seems to go on every time I've view over the last few years and right now it feels like it is getting to a fever pitch. Hillary v Mariah is now meh to me.

That used to happen a lot on soaps in the 80s especially and some of the 90s, particularly between colleagues who worked together, in places like hospitals and police station houses.

Much of the dialogue between characters often used to consist of banter, back then the exchanges between colleagues were usually characterized by wit.  Only between rivals and enemies did the exchanges lean toward bitterness.

This type of thing is nothing new. In fact, it was employed more often and executed a lot better in the past.

Yeah a Scott vs Nick rivalry is a snooze fest.  And why a rivarly between two boring characters?

It's going to continue to be one boring summer. I could care less for this triangle attempt. They need to end it before it even starts.

Mariah is already in that newman/abbot/winters Mergeron story plus that music story cum sex trafficking thing of Tessa's.  Didn't you see her giving educated experienced business men advice on how close the deal? Didn't you see her interviewing Dina and Devon for GC Buzz? Didn't you see her helping Devon sign Tessa? She's already all over the place much like Scott.

Then he needs to be at Newman. Nick  has no purpose whatsoever.

Then Mariah would have nothing to do but play supporting to Tessa.

It's been so refreshing to have Hilary on these last couple days without Mariah tied to her hip.  Hilary has had more airtime with Mariah over the last two months than Devon and Jordan put together. They have so much airtime together, you'd think Mariah was the one Hilary was in love with or sleeping with as opposed to Jordan or Devon, whom Hilary rarely interacts with now. The entire dynamic if that triangle/qaud is odd and doesn't work in its' current form.

So we were watching a couple series on Netflix - 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale.  They're serials, and I noticed a couple of things, particularly with Riverdale (13 Reasons Why a little less so).  These shows are pure manufactured drama.  Every 15 minutes something.happens.  The music scores are substantial in those scenes.  It's tiresome, honestly.  I mean, how many secrets can Archie and the The Gang have to keep this hectic pace going??  And it led me to think of Y&R and the traditional soaps - is that kind of storytelling what people want to see?  15 or 20 "wow" moments on a 44 minute show??  It looks like Riverdale will have a season 2, and for the life of me, I can't imagine how they are going to keep this up.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I think it's relevant to Y&R, given how many people here seem to think the show is "boring"...

HTGAWM is the same way. A frantic pace with a twist and turn every 5 minutes. It's so manic that characterization suffers for it. I had to let it go. I realized that these kinds shows start out good but eventually it becomes tedious and I become numb to the latest wow moment. Y&R is the same way with Victor. I am no longer shocked by anything he does.

The production has improved over the last few weeks.  Lighting, music and camera work are all working for me, especially today's show.  I'm no fan of the current Chloe/Chelsea/Nick story, but it had my attention.  The Victor/Nikki scenes were well done and Dina continues to work for me.  The low point for me was Scott/Kevin/Sharon in the coffee shop.

If these last few weeks have shown anything, IMO, is the need to have Dina become a permanent resident of Genoa City.

Count me among those that like Mattie and Charlie.  The age thing with Lily doesn't really bother me, it's happened before with other characters and this won't be the last time.  And I still like Reed.

IA the Scott and Jordan characters aren't working.

IMO "The Newman's hate Victor" rehash is CBS/Sony attempting to send EB to the retirement home. I'm pretty sure EB hates this storyline too but for whatever reason he hasn't ranted to the soap press yet.

    • I'm surprised it took me this long to get into RH. The soap is so damn good, I am just as obsessed with the Ryan's as Delia. The Ryans are a great family unit and seem like good people. I wish I had a family like that. This show has so many parallels to BTG. Frank's mystery is very similar to Martin's. Both are my favorites on each show. adding more thoughts soon once I get a consistent watch going.
    • I also get why Gio feels his life was a lie. I get everyone's emotions are high now That's why I think Monica passing will be the catalyst that starts to the healing process for Gio, BLQ, Lois, Tracy, Ned, Olivia and Dante
    • Judging by the fact that I was able to watch two episodes today, looks like Canada being a day ahead might be permanent.
    • Agreed! I normally don't rate Amanda Setton that highly as an actress, but she knocked those scenes out of the park. Between this and the Michael storyline, I think we're in for a week of juicy drama. I heard everyone talking about how dull Rory Gibson was on Y&R, but I thought he was pretty good today playing a steelier version of Michael. And I loved Wiley's little "Bye mommy!" moment. The writers clearly know how much most of us hate Willow if they're tossing out little nuggets of schadenfreude like that one.
    • Slower day, but not bad. I thought Tomas was at his personal best today, flirting with Kat at Uptown.  Hayley is pregnant!  Oh boy... Samantha felt more like the babysitter today vs. the young sister. I'm ready to meet Sharon. I want a strong dynamic so it's not a repeat of what we just saw with Tracy's reunion.
    • They've been on same day for three episodes, which is a good thing because the days flowed weird to me before.
    • I see both Lois and BLQs sides re Gio BLQ wanted her son to be happy. Lois wanted to make sure it happened, so she gave him to family. Selfish?  Yes, but I get it Gio was raised by a loving mother and extended family. Lois followed BLQ wishes Great acting by AS & RS

date: Tuesday, May 27 | Christopher Dunn, Lynn Martin | Steven Williford I feel bad for Chelsea; she's exploring her feelings, and they're getting [unintentionally] hurt. But I love the support that Katherine has for her cousin. Bradley, you deserve one hundred times better than Deadbeat. So much more. Anita essentially tossing Tracy out... whew. She's done. DONE. Ouch... Chelsea hit the nerve with Katherine. How interesting... I feel like Tracy is becoming the mirror Anita has been avoiding while being a Dupree. What are these top secret things she's harbouring? I really hope Jessica's interest in Tyrell is genuine, because if it isn't, it might just destroy him. Back alley meetings? Your family? As if Bradley is not part of your family... Deadbeat, sit your ass down. Hey, Childbride, lower your damn voice. You're in the country club, not the country field where your ass belongs. And oh God, she's knocked up. Whew... here we go! Dante Greene, what control did this man have? But I appreciate that Anita and Tracy are uniting together; I pray that Sharon joins them soon. I love how easy Katherine and Tomas are with each other; it's smooth, it's natural and it's blooming in all the right ways. Hayley is about to battle the Dupree women for all she's worth. I am calling it right now. The unwavering support Vernon continues to provide to Anita is paramount; I adore them as the couple they are. Notes: Mike Manning (Bradley) continues to show up time and time again in scenes with Brandon Claybon (Deadbeat), who brings nothing to the table. There is an extreme lack of romantic chemistry between them. I'm wondering how different Dante Greene is going to be in comparison to Berry Gordy Jnr; we know the true history of Diana Ross and the Supremes, but how different will it be with Anita Williams and the Articulettes?
    • This episode is beyond excellent Could have waited on tge Trina Kai scenes  but regardless  great soap
    • Haha same! I didn't like her in the beginning, but over time, I've really grown to love to hate her as a villain.  I can't wait to listen to today's new episode later tonight! I've been waiting for the mom and dad (Crystal/Vincent) to have an interaction, so I'm happy to hear it's today.
