I remember Jamey Giddens saying that the show has tried to tell stories focused on Jill and business but the network typically forces the show to rework it to include or center on Cane. That's why he's never far from any story she's involved in.

Even the latest story with her buying CI from Victor, Cane was shoehorned into those scenes. He was totally unnecessary.

I agree with you that this is a totally different situation with Hilary and Devon. It feels fresh to me. Just cause Hilary made the choice to tell the truth, she's not running from devon towards some old man, she's not being some villain, nor is she being mean just to be mean. This is the writing I've been waiting on for her. The premise is weak but her behavior had been understandable and relatable. I'm digging it

@DramatistDreamer I'd love to see CI as a viable company. Jill, unlike Katherine, can do more than sign papers, it is wasting Jill's talents. But I can't see them adding another empire, and both Newman & Jabot have lot's of family to keep theirs on screen. A Chance return would be essential, someone needs to be named Chancellor, and he's a legacy child born onscreen. Plus all that military and Washington DC experience could make for a good-to-go executive. Then add Mac or Phillip3 later.

There's a lot of Chancellor history that roots the company in GC but Jill is the only one left onscreen to represent it, and she's part time.

If they could cast a good actor for Chance, even on recurring, that would be a good start. Jess Walton has given the impression that if given a worthwhile storyline she'd roll up her sleeves and get to work.

We're in agreement that Jill, as the only character that has that link to the OG Y&R, it would be fitting for Jill to be seen as captain of her industry, on par with the Jacks and the Victor Newmans of the world.

I don't know whether SS will actually write Victor as stepping down from head of NE but if they do this (as has been hinted at), it would be imperative to have someone who can go head to head with Jack and the only remaining character on that level is Jill.

I just don't see Victoria on that level.

In a genre that relies on women so much, and it being 2017 and all, it really is time for an experienced female CEO who can play hardball and stand to toe with the likes of Jack and Victor, who stands alone and is not going to be in competition with her brother for the position.

Jill has schemed and charmed and seduced but she's also worked very hard. As a character who started off doing nails to support her family, it is the ultimate rise to the top story and I just don't know why Y&R hasn't played it to the hilt, or at least for what it is worth.

One of the reasons why I am disappointed that Hillary was shifted away from the corporate life and into entertainment. Y&R has never had a Black female executive and Hillary was ascending the corporate ladder at Jabot. This many not seem like a big deal to some but representation matters, especially when you've never seen it on the show before. If there was another corporate titan besides NE and Jabot, and since Jill and Hill have had great combative chemistry before, there are several great storylines just waiting to be explored at CI.

That's my opinion but I'm hoping someone from Y&R hears me!  Take this premise please!

    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
    • On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)  Some sets we don't see anymore Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years) Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?) Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident) Penthouse (Lily's home) Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby) Chancellor office (once Dark Horse) Nick's house GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters) Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again. Have I missed anything?
    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
