This baby swap fallout.

Affair fallout transitionsed into Brash and Sassy/jack vs Billy still going.

The only reason I list them is because the actors involved lead the episode counts. The GC Buzz orbit doesn't.

Sally said in her first interview that Devon and Hilary had the only proactive story. A show can't survive off that.

Good question

I don't claim to be a writer by any stretch of the imagination.  IA the scenarios you mention sound pretty bad.

If they are going to go the Nick/Chelsea route, this secret should be working her conscious, have her pull back from him, make excuses not to see him.  Nick starts wondering what's wrong with her and tells Nikki he doesn't understand what's wrong with Chelsea but she seems distant or uninterested in him.  Victor overhears.  He confronts her...

Maybe it can be used to make Chelsea less goody goody.  She was a little schemer back in the day, use this to her advantage by getting something from Newman.  She threatens to tell the truth unless Newman does something fir Chelsea 2.0?  Granted, that's so far from how she's been written the last few years, that might need more fleshing out.  And EB may not take kindly to Victor being punked out.

Or they can just ignore it until they get Adam back onscreen, but at least have Chelsea and Victor have some meaningful conversation about it.  I would just like to see something that explains why these two are keeping this from Nick.

It'd serve the canvas to have Chelsea now become a schemer. But I think someone somewhere wants MCE as the show's lead heroine. I don't think Sally will agree but I also can't imagine them turning her into a vixen either.

I feel like SullyCAN's parentage will be ignored like Lily's was for all those years. It'll just stop being mentioned until the show is ready to recast Adam, if ever.

Agree. Which is why that's not really the conversation we were having.

Ah, I see. I didn't count the baby swap since it's essentially over, but I see what you mean. I didn't remember that from SS's interview, but you're right. However, I think they plan to use Christmas to build up the characters before launching anything major. It may make for little action but I think ultimately it was a wise decision.

Finally caught up. It's so amazing that, flaws and all, Y&R is a show now that I cannot wait to watch the next episode of. Susan Dansby is a keeper.

Re: the comment about motivation from earlier: It's so true. I understand where these people are coming from, what drives them. That's so important.

Jack and Jill arguing felt like old times. The flashback was a great touch. I love that they're mindful of the ABC audience as they re-establish all these relationships. Ashley's reaction when Jill went over to her and started bitching made me laugh out loud. And how fun was Jill & Victor bickering and her scolding Billy and Victoria like children?

Speaking of Billy & Victoria, God, I hate to say this, but I finally could see them as a couple now. But this is the show that's managed to make even Dylan palatable. Jason Thompson is so fυcking hot, I can't stand it.

Nick was being such a gigantic ass. When will they realize Morrow can't make his character sympathetic while acting that way? When? Loved Faith's explosion in the end, badly acted as it was! lol

Came across this article about the decline of the department store. Although Fenmore's is technically a boutique and not a department store, this offers some perspective that it is indeed still "a thing" that traditional stores are still struggling with ways to cope, stay in business while they attempt to rebuild their brands.

By no means is this a by-gone issue.

Cramer says department stores are in real trouble and Nordstrom is 'cannibalizing themselves'

This is one reason why I think SS and KA need to get a move on with Lauren's Fenmore story. Stalling risks a loss of momentum and this is really the only current story that has genuine movement that feels like a story with legs (character and plot development).

Hells yes.  Yesterday's show was good, looking forward to today!

Im not quite there yet, buddy IRT Billy/Vic.  But JT is a sexy !@#$%^&*].  I wish MGV were still on this show, he made weak.  jesus fuckin christ, he was plum pretty (as my momma used to say).

Yes, excellent point and I was drawn to this story the minute it started airing.  It's strange why they have let this one go for 3 eps.  Hopefully today...

    • I know they were popular, but once they tamed Van's shrew, I thought Billy just brought Van down. Since they had just Nola and Billy sitting around in 97, an interesting thing would be if they had developed a friendship that turned into something else while Van was "dead". Maybe Billy lives at the Boardinghouse (to work on repaing his relationship with Bill) and works at Company instead of the stupid diner. Nola and Bridget give him a job there and Nola and Billy (who had originally been a bit antagonistic) slowly build up a relationship and then Van returns. A returned new lease on life Van would return to her "high hat ways" and take on the Spaulding's for control of the company with Billy helping her behind the scenes.  I know that Jordan was on sporadically because of his issues and them not know if they could trust him not to fall of the wagon, but they could have done it slow..and give Van and Nola a new reason to get in each others hair (I love a good Van/Nola tussle.)

Perhaps it wasn't the most well-played match in history, but that's something no one will remember in a few years time.
    • The thing with Martin (for me) is that he should have been Anita and Vernon's kid. I honestly think he would have been fine being an older or younger brother to Dani and Nicole. It also would have made his relationship and kids feel more realistic. A handsome salt and pepper late 40s/early 50s congressman who settled down and adopted kids to fit an image for politics. Not that he didn't want this lifestyle but it is what he needed to do to get ahead. Also, we don't often get older characters playing LGBT roles not just on daytime but across most media. It would have been a refreshing take. As an alternative, Sam and Ty could have been Martin's kids from an earlier marriage a la the NJ governor that was outed. We could have also seen parallels between Vernon and Anita thinking back to how they handled Martin coming out compared to the way they accepted Chelsea.  As for Martin being Nicole and Ted's kid, I do wish in this case he was not tied to a marriage and kids, so that he could date and sleep around like any other character on a soap.  Yeah, I didn't get it...but what I did get is that girl is a bit crazy like her mama.  Vanessa and Joey talking about the poker table...get these people off my screen.

    • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't think the show should have reunited Billy/Vanessa at all until the final stretch of the show. When watching the 1989 episodes when both Vanessa and Billy return after being off the show... I liked that Vanessa had moved on from him and that the show was hinting at her wanting to reunite with her first love Ross while looking down at Nadine for being the one Ross was dating.  And I loved the twist where Billy and Nadine teamed up to keep Vanessa/Ross apart.   This was an interesting concept that sadly the writers dropped with the show deciding to make Vanessa pine over Billy between 1990 and 1993 when they finally reunited.   To me, Vanessa pining over Billy seemed out of character. At least once Billy was carted off to prison in 1994... she and Billy divorced and stayed divorced until the final months when they finally found their way back together.  During the years when they were divorced, I liked that they had maintained a friendship and connection.. with viewers (like my late mom) wondering if they would ever decide to make it work again. I wish the show had tried that with Josh/Reva because by the time of the final episode when they rode off into the sunset, I didn't care because we'd been through the make up and break ups between them for over 10+ years by that point.
    • I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as  Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
    • I’m ready for Portia and Curtis to divorce and get it over with. Portia cheating with Isaiah would make for a fun love quadrangle with Jordan.
