Ben and Chad's fight was really well done.   And it looked like they didn't use stunt doubles, or at least used them that much.  Kudos to Noel Maxam, Billy Flynn, and RSW the intense and graphic fight scene.  There was one shot that I really liked, it was before they got into the fight, the camera on Ben was just a bit titled.  I'm so glad Noel Maxam is back.

The fight was really well done. Ben destroyed Chad and I cringed as Ben started slamming Chad's head into the bed frame. Ugh. So awful to watch but so well done.

I've been hard on him, but Robert Scott Wilson has stepped up tremendously. Really good.

I liked the ending with the shots of Abby staring at Chad through the window at the hospital and then the close up of Sami's face.

I have to say Sami is leaving me cold as hell. I know we'll get emotion but ehhh. I don't think having Sami like this when death happens is the right move for her as a character. I'd rather they have focused on Lucas. LOL. Meanwhile, Bryan remained fantastic today as Lucas couldn't hold it together. I wanted more from the morgue scene. I don't know, I think it's all about Sami and she's just leaving me cold.

I really love that the show feels like a community again. Characters pop up in episodes (hi, Kayla!), they all interact with each other, more than two people can be in a scene, more sets ... sigh. I'm happy.

Even though it wasn't a focus yesterday, I'm not loving the Steve/Kayla story. Joey's vanished and Steve is waaaaaay too Bo focused. I know he needs to be and I'm glad he knows the video was probably to throw him off, but Kayla's going through the crisis with her mother and I don't think Steve ever asks how she is. IDK. A few things are bothering me about it.

Oh, for Monday's episode, Freddie Smith left me cold as well as he reacted to the death. Not truly awful but not great. I hope to get something better out of him later. And I know how Victor told Sonny was in character but I didn't love it. I know they're saving Justin/Adrienne for when Sonny's home but poor Sonny getting such a cold delivery about his husband's murder.

And are we ever going to see Kate's reaction? I'd rather have had her than Sami. LOL

Bryan is still killing it as Lucas remains a sobbing mess. Finally though we get Kate. Nice scenes. Love these two.

Anne! I guess she's sticking around as she and Theresa seemed to have made up.

I hate the new writers for making Daniel and Nicole together likable to me. Ugh. Daniel has been so much better under these writers and it's not just because he's only on every few weeks (which is wonderful on it's own).

Nice to have Marlena with her children. Brady, Eric and Marlena are all waiting for Sami to crumble.

Lower key episode but still a good episode.

Amazing performances by everyone especially Alison Sweeney and Bryan Dattilo. The show is so enmeshed in darkness there's no balance. Thank god Ann and Theresa are buddies in crime again. I hope Ben doesn't kill Anne she's a great minor character that works so well with Theresa. I am loving the group scenes and interactions between people. I wonder who the next murder victim will be? The residents of Salem have a serial killer killing friends and family yet no one has any fear. Never been the biggest fan of Daniel but not looking forward to seeing him bite the dust as well.

I hate that Kate found out offscreen. I also hate that they didnt even focus on her grieving and had her back to working in the same episode.

Nicole's hair looked worse than usual

Im glad Teresa made up with Anne. Loved their friendship. She is really coming into her own as a likeable character. LMAO at her calling Ben and Abby's wedding, the wedding of the year

I didnt expect to see Sami breakdown so soon. I thought it would be at or after the funeral

Having Kate get the news offscreen was a terrible and inexplicable choice. If they were going to make the mistake of killing of Will, they should have played every single nuance of this story for all it was worth.

I'm also glad that Anne and Theresa are back to being friends. She needs to work over at Basic Black.

    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
    • There’s absolutely nothing exciting happening storyline wise but I’m always happy to see the vets on my screen so I’ll take what I can get. It’s also just nice to see them all dressed up in the same room, it always gives classic Y&R vibes. The best part? No Phyllis.
