I enjoyed a great deal of Season 4 of MP - Peter, Amanda, Brooke, Alison and Mr. Armstrong, the Parezis, Kimberly the radio host, etc. - but they definitely went too over the top, especially in the back end with Betsy, Kimberly and the sanitarium. (Other characters, like Sydney, got even more heightened.)

That was what led to the deliberate pull-back in Season 5, trying to make the show 'grounded' again, in which it became a mix of deathly boring (with stuff like Billy and Sam, or Jake and Alison, the latter of which was apparently due to Grant Show and Courtney Thorne-Smith dating and wanting to work together) and just muddled ideas, some of which were honestly good and some very bad, but almost all of which were executed poorly, with the exception of Amanda and Peter's marriage and its subsequent dissolution. And the purging of people like Kimberly and Sydney was a fatal mistake.

Season 6 was almost a total wash, and Season 7, while pretty good IMO, was too late.

I think season 4 had too many bad subplots for me to truly love it, but it did have some good stuff. I think the highlights of season 5 were anything involving Kimberly, Michael, Taylor, Amanda and Peter. Beyond that it was so dull.

I liked Kyle and Sydney in Season 5, but they never really pulled the trigger on that.

The Kimberly story was excruciatingly bad, and I was her biggest fan. The Jake/Alison melodrama was even worse.

I'm NOT talking about AMC or GH or Santa Barbara or Sunset Beach, I'm talking about Y&R

LMAO so? It's all relevant, it shows a pattern with Pratt. Vets on Y&R aren't exempt from his poison pen

If it's any consolation, I recall Pratt saying when he first took over AMC, he wanted to make Adam Chandler a force to be reckoned with, another Victor Newman. I'm paraphrasing, but I remember that quote. Pratt could put Victor front and center, if anyone actually wants to see that.

Has Pratt ever been interviewed about Lucci's comments regarding him? I wonder if, say, Michael Logan would ever bring it up, should Pratt be interviewed ahead of his Y&R stint.

Have you noticed no press for his arrival? You can tell behind the scenes people are not happy. I imagine whomever is tasked with his arrival interview will be someone they know will soft-ball the questions. Nobody wants to do it so I imagine it'll probably be SOD who does the interview.

How JFP and Charles Pratt could have come from greatness (on SB) and then stoop to desecrating the genre still boggles my mind. If their work on GH is any indication, Y&R fans should be very afraid.

Hearing how Phelps got Pratt the job by going over Angelica McDaniel's head [to Nina Tassler, her BOSS], makes me worry. It should make Angelica worry too. I feel like it's only due time before their other close friend, Brian Frons, is wooed to CBS and takes Angelica's job. . . .

Please, Jill might go for Angelica's job herself....

No way! Jill loves the [non]creative process way too much!
