DAYS: Timeslot change (or cancelled) for 10 affiliates? - DC, Chicago, Dallas, and more.

WASHINGTON DC: DAYS IS MOVING TO 12PM

Via Jason47:

NBC owns and operates 10 of its many affiliates.

For those 10 affiliates (known as O&O's in the business), based on Meredith Vieira's air schedule:

WRC (Washington DC), WMAQ (Chicago), WCAU (Philadelphia), KXAS (Dallas) and KNSD (San Diego) will be airing Meredith Vieira at 1PM.

WNBC (New York City), KNBC (Los Angeles), WVIT (Connecticut) and WTVJ (Miami) will be airing Meredith Vieira at 2PM.

KNTV (San Francisco/Oakland) will be airing Meredith Vieira at 3PM.

I don't think this needs to turn into a 60 page doom and gloom OMG DAYS IS CANCELLED OR WILL THEY MOVE NETWORKS? Let's not.

That is SO 1998. Days can move to ABC. They can cancel PC and trim OLTL to a half-hour. Whoa, flashback. I hope NBC picks AW over SuBe.

If DAYS survived Dee & Drake leaving in '09 they can survive without Samantha Gene and the blinking Brit.

LOL at people thinking EJ and Sami leaving are the reason DAYS will get cancelled. Yeah. No. There isn't going to a mass turn out of viewers.

I'm not super concerned over this, yet, but it's alarming for sure. Once affiliates begin moving the show ... it's not exactly a good sign. I've always had a feeling DAYS would reach it's 50th and then ... we shall see but DAYS will still be on for quite a while so I don't think this needs to turn into a 60 page doom and gloom OMG DAYS IS CANCELLED OR WILL THEY MOVE NETWORKS? Let's not.

Yes.

DAYS became most vulnerable once it became NBC's only daytime show - no talk, no game shows - only multiple hours of TODAY and DAYS, which is an island. If NBC cancels DAYS, ABC would've been logical choice, BUT they gave the 3/2pm slot back to local affiliates when the Katie fiasco happened. There is no way they can get it back. They aren't going to cancel TV or TC for DAYS. Basically, it's NBC or nothing, plus there isn't much more they can do from a budget standpoint - they are bare bones - so it's unlikely a cable network could afford it - like OWN, except DAYS is probably the least diverse soap on the air - so there would have to be changes.

I think Jason is simply stating when Meredith Viera will be airing. Unless there are additional changes, WVIT already airs DAYS at 12 noon (it has since the fall when the show was bumped for Hollywood Access) and WNBC airs it at 1PM.

That said, a bunch of affiliates played with the schedule in the fall. Was there really a big shift in the ratings then? I don't recall.

That's correct. People were asking about the change when WRC (Washington DC) tweeted they'd be shifting Days to Noon, so I simply went to the Meredith Vieira website and listed what times her show will air on the 10 NBC O&O's. I didn't look up when Days aired in those 10 markets, but probably most are keeping Days at the same time. I figured people in each of those 10 cities would already know what time Days airs in their market, so by listing the Meredith time slots, they could figure out if it would mean Days was moving or not.

If AW went to ABC. Do you think AMC and OLTL would still be on now?

DAYS is on at 1 PM here in Cleveland.

When Sunset Beach debuted in 1997, here in Cleveland they moved DAYS to 11 AM, then aired the local news at noon, then SUN came on at 1 PM with AW remaining at 2 PM.

In the summer of 1999, the schedule remained the same except for Passions replacing AW in the 2 PM slot.

When SUN was cancelled at the end of the year, DAYS was moved back to 1 PM where it has remained ever since.

I love Meredith, saw a promo for her new show yesterday and it didn't even dawn on me that something's got to give. I'm also in the D.C. area. I haven't watched it in several months, but Access Hollywood Live is actually a good entertainment news/talk show. I hope it finds a spot somewhere else if it's not being cancelled. At home viewers in areas that will make this change will now be able to watch every last soap left with only a half hour of overlap.

I don't see why some people are saying that Days should move to ABC has to make room for Tyra's talk show.

NBC renewed DAYS until 2016. It's fallin in the ratings but lets hope Kristen's return and Samis exit pulls up ratings. It will see its 50th anniversary which NBC will do huge press for. It just needs to promote Lorraine Broderick as her dialogue and emotional moments have been fabulous for days.

Tyra's show is syndicated - it will probably air on ABC O&O stations (like Katie), but it is not part of ABC daytime, which only has three shows now (TV, TC, GH), CBS has five and NBC has one. All other shows are syndicated and can air on any local affiliate.

I agree. LB will push the show to a new high.

Since Meredith's show is syndicated, it won't even air on Cleveland's NBC affiliate. It will air at 3 PM on the ABC affiliate, after GH and in the timeslot vacated by Katie Couric's show.

Unfortunately, this is another nail in DOOL's coffin. The ratings are abysmal and won't improve in the coming months. I believe Sept 2016 will be the end of it. Let's enjoy it until then but don't expect it to survive beyond then.

Days has pulled renewals out the bag in much worse circumstances than what we're in right now. True, ratings are down and I think we need some changes - but a decision about rhea how's date won't be made for a year and half- between now and then we have ED's story, James and Ari's exits, the shows. 50th, and who knows what else may be involved. While I definitely respect everyone's opinions, I think it's a little too early for doom and gloom predictions... Especially when that's what soaps have been living in for the past 15+ years
