And what is the point of that? Who the hell is going to root for Kelly? Or an exciting triangle of Jack between two recasts? We all know Y&R won't want to get Gina Tognoni "stuck" with Jack Abbott, either; they don't value that character.

All this "man not a boy" stuff is insulting. There are so many ways for an adult to act. Billy Miller also wasn't some macho, ultra-masculine guy either. The switch from Billy Miller to David Tom wasn't as over the top as people make it out to be. Billy Miller's Billy was immature and a screw up, he was not some super mature, generic soap hunk leading man. David Tom was the LEAST of this shows problems.

WORD

Billy became a pointless line-hamming air-hog with occasional outs for pilot season under Billy Miller and David Tom was definitely not worse but a major improvement. Problem is and will be NuBilly's leading lady aka. hair model extraordinaire and home depot Emmy winner Amelia.

This show is in a dead zone right now (not a good harbinger for the summer). The writing, the direction, the characters-- very little of anything 'works' right now on this show. Any charm that characters may have had (I'm looking at you, Hillary) has been drained away, along with whatever zest they once had.

I find myself only caring a little bit about some established characters (not all) and being almost totally indifferent to the rest.

The show makes so little sense whether its Mariah, Dylan's story, Neil/Hillary/Devon, or the hot mess that is Billy/Victoria/Stitch/Kelly/Jack/Chelsea. The show is so aimless and seems to just be featuring a bunch of non-stories.

Y&R 2014 isn't as shockingly atrocious as Y&R 2007 nor appallingly abhorrent and repulsive as Y&R 2009&2010 were but the show isn't running on any fumes at all.

Burgess Jenkins to me isn't entirely bad, but is probably the show's strangest miscast since the days of Shari Shattuck.
