Whitney Houston makes history this week as her 1987 sophomore album Whitney is certified diamond.

She is the first African American artist to have 3 diamond albums, and only the second woman (Shania Twain was first) to score 3 diamond albums.

Just saw this...

To date, three Black artists have had two Diamond Albums -- Michael Jackson, 2Pac and Mariah Carey. Ten more have had one. They are Prince & the Revolution, Boyz II Men, TLC, The Notorious B.I.G., OutKast, Hammer, Lionel Richie, Nelly, Stevie Wonder and Usher.

Lots of press this week on the 30th anniversary of Whitney's iconic (and definitive really) rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at Super Bowl XXV. You know your rendition is iconic when no one remembers the actual game itself, and only remembers your version of the national anthem.

Opinion: Whitney Houston's anthem rendition remains iconic 30 years after Super Bowl 25

And then there was the time Diane Sawyer thought it'd be cute to have on Michael Jackson and then-wife Lisa Marie Presley for an interview that just reinforced everyone's worst suspicions about the couple.

That looks on par with the horrendous Lifetime movie Angela Bassett directed. Also, historically inaccurate based on her singing ‘How Will I Know’ when Clive “discovers” her in that scene they have in the trailer.
