laugh.png I expected there to be some stunning revelation as to why Ronan couldn't have a relationship with Chance and Nina. Instead, it's he "owes them his life and he doesn't know how to handle that"? WTF! How about by not being a complete dick for no reason? Add a thank you to that and you're probably good. I swear, this show.

Although you cannot expect either Ronan or Nina to pretend as if she raised him...yeah, I don't get Ronan's issues either.

Michael Learned is no Jeanne Cooper, of course, but she definitely works as a soap matriarch.

I wish there were some way to reveal Ronan isn't really Nina's son. I still hate the fact that Y&R felt the need to pick up that loose thread. It colored so much of Nina's history, especially in regards to her relationship with Chance Phillip IV, I think resolving it has actually done more harm than good.

But Nina does love him as much as if she had raised him, imo. Having your baby stolen is something you never forget. She wants a relationship with him, so I don't really see why he can't have some compassion for someone who grieved for him every day of his life. If he really doesn't want a relationship with her, he should leave town.

"Agree" to all of that, Julia. I'm just saying I always expect there to be an element of awkwardness on Ronan's part since Nina came into his life again not that long ago.

I can see that and I agree with you that Nina should have never found her son. I think that's what BB wanted and that should have been respected. Nina even had some dialogue once about how stories can't always have a neat resolution. She was talking about her own writing, but I took it as a "message" from BB about Nina's story on the show.

I don't think they should have kept Nina from her son forever, I think the story could work. It just doesn't work with this writing team, and with Branson, who is very shut down as an actor.

The real idea of this story is that we're supposed to think Ronan is a man with balls for not wanting anything to do with his family. In Shefferland, family is garbage, and for wusses, unless of course, you are a patriarch and your family is too stupid to do anything without you (like Victor).

They have never had any idea what to do with Ronan. The only reason they likely even hired Branson is because he'd been on AMC with Reigel and Hendrickson. They've repeatedly thrown him into bad stories, and now, out of pure desperation, they've thrown him in with Phyllis and basically rewritten the character's entire personality for the sake of Phyllis.

When the only thing anyone likes about a character is fill in the blank "snarking" with fellow sociopath Adam, that's not saying a lot.

    • Absolutely! Brad should've simply moved on from Lunacy. There's no point of freeing her, if you're not going to at least make an attempt at redemption or incorporating her into the fold. It happened with Quinn, who committed quite a few felonies before become the Forrester Matriarch.  Heck, keep Lunacy in prison and have Poppy/Finn discover that she gave birth to twins - 'Sunny' could've come on with a clean slate and still had Sheila/Finn and all the other drama. It certainly couldn't have been worse than what we've witnessed with the destruction of $B.
    • I would enjoy it if Swan popped up on BTG as an old one time friend/mentor of Anita’s for a cameo. This is just

    • I had totally forgotten that Courtney story. I see Burton was already phoning it in by that point.
    • omg I completely missed that, but now when I see it typed here in your post, it's obvious icky cringe. So now I just checked and Tomas said that -- on May 27 that he likes the author Carl Ivati.  He said it with sort of an accent, so I didn't catch the stupid joke or think about the spelling.   I remember when that aired, that I actually said to myself at the time, "I wonder if that's a Latin American author, and I will have to google him later." And now I see your post, and I see. Well that's cringe, and I feel stupid to have fallen for it.

    • There's a lot you don't need if you have the writing.  You don't even need large casts!  You could make do with a cast of 12-18 actors if the writing is there.
    • Thank you. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping around if your spouse actually knows about it. She’s just a cheating slut.
    • OMG...Robert Mandan! And Donna Mills is a child. I keep hoping for more of early Ross/Vanessa.
    • I get your point, but I also know that if the roles were reversed -- if a man were screwing around on a woman this way -- everyone would be all "All with his head!" When I say Vanessa needs therapy, I'm actually being kind, because I could begin and end with the fact that she's a cheating slut.
    • Is nobody going to mention the cringefest that is 'Carl Ivati'?
    • I've accepted we'll probably never see any of the Roger/Holly 1976-1978 storyline. Whenever any of Roger/Holly 1979 and 1980 storylines surface, those are must watch as they set in motion everything we saw a decade later.
