Members Skin Posted September 24, 2011 Members Share Posted September 24, 2011 I'm glad the show remembered the Jaime/JR rivalry. Also thought it was nice that they brought up Jaime/Babe, it's like so many writers tried to forget them. As much as the show would hate to admit it Babe was the most important love interest Jaime ever had much like JR. It makes sense there would be animosity between them for that reason alone (although JR and Jaime had problems well before she came to PV) but Jaime seems to have been willing to put it past him.Try as hard as the writers did Jaime/Amanda and Jaime/Julia never worked and only seemed to make him an ill formed character. I also thought it was kind of interesting that Jaime didn't deny it, although he probably had no idea that Babe could be alive. It's unfortunate that Jaime has never connected with any of the writers. Megan was probably the most interested in him and she defined him the most but seemed to throw him aside in favor of JR. It makes sense only so many "heroes" can exist and there were too many characters playing that role in the forms of Ryan, Tad, Aiden and others. Just kind of sucks that Jaime a Martin got the shaft for it. I loved the way Justin played the JR/Jaime interaction. It was like he couldn't believe JR was so embittered by the past. Why was Jaime at the airport again? I have never really been attached to Marian but I liked her scenes with Stuart. "Queen Of Hearts". Why did Adam kill Stuart again? Brooke bought Adam's house back! Aww. I think Angie might be the greatest character AMC ever created. So David gets a free pass? It's still so hard for me to believe that Dixie's son would end up like this. We had 4 days of heartfelt, family-oriented episodes with tons of flashbacks. Today, we had pure soap opera. It was a perfect week! This episode screamed the true meaning of All My Children and the classic poem. "In Joy and Sorrow..." - You had the juxtaposition of Brooke/Erica and their relationships. Loved that Adam proposed!!! Loved the ending with Jack's line to Erica in front of everyone, and Erica chasing him, determined to win regardless. That is classic Erica. She wants independence and dreams bigger than Pine Valley (her movie), yet she gets caught up in winning over men at all costs, which keeps her in Pine Valley. It's pure, classic Erica and All My Children. Loved that ending! "In Tragedy and Triumph" - You had the juxtaposition of JR and his breakdown/loss and the many who have won (Scott, Angie, David, Stuart, etc). While I would have loved 2 hours and more, I think the show wrapped up every character and family nicely over the last week. The ending was pure soap opera. Cliffhangers galore! And knowing that I can't tune in Monday just kills me... it's the ultimate cliffhanger. For me, AMC 2.0 in January can't come soon enough, however it just won't be the same (I hope I'm wrong). I feel like this was a fitting end to the ABC-run All My Children. I cried the entire time, and I'm still tearing up. I just can't believe this day came, and now it is over. I will forever save this last week. It was perfect. I can't imagine it going any other way, other than just having more time/hours! Including Erica Kane herself. The whole time I kept going, "No, JR..." Interesting at that last hint at who the second patient is. Hmmm. I was gutted, and by that I mean my heart ripped apart at newborn Erica being put into Mona's arms. I was not expecting that. That opening sequence was GORGEOUS and so perfect. That was the only time I cried. Well until Stuart and Marian. Ack. The rest of the episode was good. I loved the pacing. Tad's speech was great. Teared up again then, but didn't cry. J&E were good. I don't say that easily. Perfect end for them. And one of them very likely could have taken the/a bullet. And the cliffhanger...very Agnes Nixon. All in all, I loved it.
