Plus, some of the other boards are NON-STOP b.s. I happened to love when people have the capacity to understand that the characters are written or NOT written as it were!

I went on another board about a year ago, somebody had posted "OMG, Villy were awsum today." Cue about 20 replies, all variations of "Yeah. Awsum!" "OMG, ITA," "Billy Miller is so hot," "the girl who plays Victoria is really pretty, the other Victoria was fat" "ITA," "Co-sign" etc. I was all "bye!" and got the hell out of there.

Take out the part about Heather Tom and it would probably be close to some of the DC writeups.

I shouldn't be surprised. I am. But I shouldn't be. They busted Olivia out for 3 episodes. Threw her into "the black storyline" as a plot device to reveal something, and isn't seen again. Y'all told me it would happen, but I'm still pissed.

Genie's worn out her welcome before even airing.

So, as I am a new reluctant viewer of Y&R....I must say this board is absolutely refreshing. Yes, I came to the show because of Maura West. Yes, I only watch for her bits. BUT what I like here is the knowledge and analytical discussion of story/writing/production/actors that is far, FAR from fawning or 'shipping or fangurl/fanboy MANIA. Not in the least agenda driven discussion as far as I can tell.

So, thanks for that, y'all.

I really enjoy posting in this Y&R thread as well. I really enjoy Dee Dee's take on the stories and characters.Your post always crack me up. And yes today was good. I am loving the new love for the Abbott's and Jabot. It's really refreshing seeing the Abbotts rather then the doom and gloom of the Newmans. FOr the last 3 to four weeks Y&R has been really good. I don't know if it's because of sweeps or the Sally McDonald thing coming on and PR leaving but the show hasd been really really good and based on spoliers it seems it will continue to be good.

Chance's story today came out of nowhere. Why is Nina alway up set or crying these days. Doesn't she ever get a break? is she ever happy?

HUH? I've never been that territorial about my soaps I just look at it as actors working.

I figured out why I am enjoying Y&R this week. Sharon is not down my throat all day long. Ahh.

TIIC have built up the expectations redonkulously high. That's really what I don't like about it already. Sure...I kinda like Tristan Rogers...but it's certainly NOT because he's Cane's father---whatever I did like about him was because he and Jill were fun together.

My "history" with Genie Francis is the miniseries North and South and knowing she's Jonathan Frakes' wife. (and the fact she presented Maura's first Emmy to her, which makes me a fan gurl...) I won't get a bleepin' thrill because she's now a "bitch". And having just come from the overhyping of Maura West's arrival (which seemed to promise plenty of story), I smell a rat.

I will give Y&R props for doing something during the traditional sweeps period. The last few years, ATWT always seemed to do something huge the week before it started, and the last week it ended. Don't ask me why.

I love Genie & she is definitely a Daytime icon.

However the way Y&R's hyping her after the constant disrespect of their own stars & a bunch of failed stunt casting (including legends like Nichols & proven stars like West) is just horrible.

"Real Greenlee" horrible.
