Chosen fan?

Nope. I'm just as anguished as @Vee was to learn that Ben [!@#$%^&*] Gavin once auditioned for Y&R's Adam. (Also known as, the Most Un-Castable Role in Daytime History, lol).

  • Per the latest Soapy episode, Elizabeth Hendrickson auditioned for the role of Michelle Bauer (Guiding Light) at the same time Rebecca Budig did. And revealed that before her hiring at General Hospita

  • I think they've only had one bad Adam...it's just that Adam is the one who got all the hoopla, banners, and so on.

She could have been a decent Michelle recast at that time - she might have had less of a generic feel than Budig.

I think Budig did great, but Hendrickson definitely would have been a more natural predecessor to Bethany Joy Lenz. But on the flip, Lenz's take on Michelle probably wouldn't have been that much of a reset as it was from Budig.

I disagree. I think we've had, what, four Adams? And none of 'em have turned in what I would call a definitive performance. (Not even Justin Hartley, who, IMO, came the closest). All these years later, and I still wonder why this show doesn't just kill him off, along with the rest of Victor's offspring.

I put that more on the writing, and the show's inability to write compelling relationships for Victor and his children. I don't think anything with that family has worked since the mid '90s.

John Aprea (Lucas/Alexander AW) tested for Mel Hayes on OLTL.

The only Adam that has worked for me was Michael Muhney. Mark Grossman comes close in second, though.

Looking at an old Locher Room clip, Jeff Phillips mentions that he screen-tested for GH and AMC before he was cast as Hart on GL. I don't think he mentioned the roles.

I think Brian Bodine on All My Children and AJ on General Hospital would line up? Phillips started on Guiding Light in 1991, Brian was recast with Matt Borlenghi in early 1991, and AJ was recast with Gerald Hoskins in summer 1991. Or maybe that Eckert cousin? I think he was on screen before Hoskins' AJ.

That would make a lot of sense. I was going to say that Charlie recast who was involved with Erica, but I don't know if the dates line up.
