Also, from tvbythenumbers.com --- Vanderpump Rules has finally caught up to RHOBH in the ratings... they were listed above RHOBH, even though they tied in 18-45. Hopefully this tells Bravo something -- this season sucks!

Brandi -- and Yolanda -- came across very well in Sacramento. Interacting with normal RL people, Brandi can be very self-deprecating and human. Her relationship with her dad was touching, too.

But then she comes back to LA and moans about Lisa. Lisa's AWFUL! She treats me like a child! It comes off as resentment for Lisa's wealth and status, and it also comes off as looking for something, anything, to blame her for.

Lisa is an older generation to Brandi and I think she is naturally more maternal than sisterly with people. She was sharp with Brandi, telling her to "buck up" about her dog, but she was also in tears about the puppy. It looks hard but it is a very British trait -- the stiff upper lip. When things go bad, they tell you to count your blessings. Brits are actually quite shy people, especially about stuff like grief and love, and they try to cover up that shyness with humor.

Boyce swooning about her hubby's Big, Strong Defensive skills was heavy-handed. We get it! Another HW who thinks her husband is her 'king.' rolleyes.gif

Kim again half drunk in her VT. It's so weird seeing Kim being jovial because it always looks so forced.

I liked the Kyle sedar scenes even if the were obviously staged for the film crew in order to burnish her image on the show. Still, Kyle did mention way back in S1 when she was on a plane travelling that she takes one of the Jewish holy books with her for comfort. And she's talked about Mauricio being a nice Jewish boy at Reunions.

This show is seriously budget. Another warehouse gym?! Don't get me wrong, I liked the self-defense scenes and the guy teaching them very personable and good-natured (and hot). But the backdrop to all these "stories" is so blah. A boxing gym. A gun-range. Sacramento ended up looking positively luxurious in comparison.

And Carlton yet again yapping about pole-dancing. We get it. You like girls. Correction: you like pole dancers. You love the female body. Honestly, Bravo cut have cut this season down to 8 episodes and we wouldn't have missed a thing.

RHOA:

Kandi completely got Natalie AND Cynthia in line without even getting worked up. Loved every second of it.

I came into this season hating Kenya but damnit her messy ass is becoming the MVP of this season.

Porscha...still not sure why she exists let alone why she is still on the show.

The only thing these "Friend of Housewives" are succeeding at is getting slaughtered by the main cast and I'm loving it every single time.

RHOBH

I nearly thought it was going to be a Kim free episode...and then...out of nowhere, she emerges. Ugh.

Joyce and her gun and her tubby hubby. Whatever. I now realize Joyce reminds me of a young Charo. So everything about her is hilarious to me now. Give her twenty years, this is her future...

Kyle and her Big Fat Jewish Dinner...whatever. Maybe she's always done it. The fact she had a chef teaching her how to do says otherwise.

Lisa, as always, fabulous. Even in workout wear. A perfect 10.

Yolanda was extremely gracious in Sacramento and hit just the right note with Brandi's family, she was right to choose her over Lisa who would have been too different for them to handle. Lisa is high octane glamorous, and glamour isn't always approachable.

Brandi...what an angry lush.

One of the reasons ATL is working for me this season is that they have a large supporting cast and the "friends" really give the main women material to play off of. Carmen, Mama Joyce, Mynique, Natalie, Malorie, Marlo, Lexis...BH really should try and emulate that model. They had a small decent bunch with Camille, Faye and Marissa last season. Don't get why they downscaled bc the main women aren't really bringing it and they could use a supporting player to act as a catalyst for the drama. Miami also suffered when they got rid of the supporting players

    • This can be difficult for a soap to depict. So far she's only shown an interest in women. Will a man come into her life? If she commits to a male, there will be  backlash, but if it's women only, them where is the bi/queer aspect? Personally, I would have liked a single gay male on the show dealing with hook ups/relationships etc. Smitty/Martin married with kids is limiting in those terms.
    • Of course, how could I have forgotten those thrilling episodes depicting the fire? Also we had the GCAC rooftop set that came out every Summer. Moving on to Friday's episode. Victor is propped in his chair, answers his cell and tells the caller 'Let him in'. Seconds later Kyle enters. So does Victor have security on the front porch? It would have been better had Victor taken the call, and then said to himself 'Well Kyle, let's see what you have to say'and fade out. Next scene Kyle enters, indicating that the first call was from the Ranch entrance and time had passed . Nit picky but I get frustrated when they do stuff like that.
    • Jordan was gone from '87 to mid-'89. He left just weeks after Robert's late '86 return.

    • I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship  and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.
    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set it ablaze?). Victoria briefly moved into the ranch after the fire, with Claire, Johnny and Katie, I think? Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole then moved into the tack house as soon as Teriah left. I guess Victoria's children Johnny and Katie would live with Victoria at the tack house eventually? But Johnny and Katie went to boarding school during the school year. Not sure if we'll see Johnny and Katie for the summer vacation or where they would live.
    • Victoria’s previous house burned down.    And I know why characters frequent Crimson Lights 3 times a day for brownies, muffins and empty mugs:   THERE’S PCP IN EVERYTHING.
    • Today was a good episode, and the week for that matter. I think they've also done a better job with background music. The scenes in todays episode weren't as silent as they usually are in the background and it was noticeable. I think the show has found its groove well and I'm still invested.
