The Lady Gaga Thread

 I'd go back to liking her instead of being apathetic toward her if this were the real thing.

Judas...meh. The chorus sounds a lot like Bad Romance, except...idk...she sorta mumbles and mushmouths her way through Judas. I wish she'd leave religion alone just because whether or not you believe, it's a total mood killer.

I am really digging Judas actually after listening to it for a few days. When I first heard it I wasn't sure what to make of it. Its kind of all over the place at times and maybe a bit overproduced, but it still has all the hallmarks of a catchy Gaga tune. I think its similarities to Bad Romance are helping it along for me as that is by far my favourite Gaga song and probably always will be. At least she's ripping herself off now and not others ;)

HILARIOUS:

They kept that in the radio edit eh, I'd figure they'd cut it out. Yeah its kind of weird, there is more sax on Hair too!

Hair is a fun song, but certainly not my favourite. The Edge of Glory is so far I think the best of the songs released so far. Judas is still my personal fave though.

40% of the first week's sold copies went for 99 cents lol Besides, it's not her that I want to bitchslap, it's the overzealous fans (no one here) who have this bizarre belief that the singles from BTW have all been monster hits. Even the title track, despite sitting on the top of the Hot 100 for six weeks, is old news now.

Judas was SUCH huge hit.... I mean.... it went straight to #15 on the Pop charts!!!!!!! It was so not a flop!!! Even though 7 out of her 8 first singles reached #1 on the charts.....

Lesson learned for Gaga: don't sing religiously charged lyrics over the beat of your signature song....

I love Judas, but I can totally see why he flopped so bad. So should not have been a single.

Speaking to how Born This Way (single) is old news... it reminds me of Michael Jackson's chart success post-Thriller. Following Thriller most of his songs would shoot straight to #1 and be all by forgotten within a month or two. When you start off with the insane amount of hype that single (and now the album) that was attached to it, it is bound to fizzle out.

She still would have sold over 700,000 I think. But yes, its great to see what Adele is doing. I love it!

    • I hit the Google Machine, and can't find Alex Alegria's (Tomas) age anywhere. Wow, I really disagree with this. I like that Bill plays against the typical bad guy. I think Maurice Johnson has been just fine -- except for that swaying. I cannot believe someone -- anyone -- on that set didn't give him a note. He should have been called out on that in week one. The swaying and swiveling never stops unless he sits down. I understand the need for product placement and the reason for it. However, it does feel wrong during emotional scenes. Yes, we're talking about the products, but it takes us out of those emotional moments, and GATES shouldn't be happy about that. They need to do better. Maxim said it better than I did. I agree. The writers have absolutely failed Ashley and Derek. I've abused both of them here, but I do place more of the blame on the writing. Compare what A & D have been given with the dialogue Ambyr Michelle is getting as Eva. We're not even in the same universe. Ambyr is getting writing that plays to her (many) strengths. She takes good dialogue and knocks it out of the park. Ashley and Derek are given garbage to play and garbage to say.
    • The Eva / Tomas scenes at the end -- to see a good actress having to play a scene with someone giving her less than nothing -- that was painful.
    • I thought the story had it’s moments, I much preferred the story once Greg was meddling, trying to keep her away from Tom Ryan. I loved them together!   And there was a story they could have developed from this. Laura stopped having a lot of scenes with the ensemble. She's the only one missing during the big finales of seasons 5&6, and I would have been cool to play on that! For one, Laura being a more cutthroat business executive just made sense to me. Also, the point I was trying to make regarding Mary Robeson was that I wish they had focused on a story from her family /background beforehand. You could play the Vin artist from many angles.

    • I think the arrival of the Spauldings (Alan/Elizabeth/Phillip) caused the erosion of Sara's character on the show since Elizabeth took over Sara's place in the whole Justin/Jackie story.  Sara's brief marriage to another deceptive man sounded like it paled in comparison to the previous deceptive man story that she had played the decade beforehand.. and it was probably done because of the whole Alan/Jackie/Mike/Elizabeth cluster that took off story wise.   I know the show had introduced Brandy, the woman Justin cheated on Jackie with... but I don't believe she lasted more than a year.. and didn't make much of an impression. While the Dobson's were good at writing/juggling multiple characters/stories.. they weren't perfect though they did manage to make use of characters not in the front burner like Sara, Ann, etc. I do know that Sara/Adam looked to be starting up at the end of the Dobson era with a jealous/regretful Barbara looking on.. which played out during the Roger/Holly rape story and Hollys prison story.   I don't know if Marland was as inspired by that story when he took over
