It depends how important demos are to CBS, as opposed to total viewers. Seems to me those demos are low, no matter how cheap LMAD is. TPIR is older-skewing compared to the soaps, and LMAD is lower than the soaps in W 18-49, so does CBS really want another older-skewing game show to add to that performance?

ATWT went up in most every category except HHs...how odd. I guess people did tune in to Thurs...2.6 mil watched Holden crash Lily and Damian's wedding.

LMAD numbers arent bad....lets see how they do the next few weeks. If LMAD numbers stay the same ATWT is in big trouble!

Good for DAYS. I know it may not last, or be good enough for NBC since they have their new Housewives crap lined up, but it's nice to see them continuing to build. I also laugh at this because of all the "who cares about Crystal Chappell? She's no MAB/SN/DH!!" talk. She may not be, but obviously people are somewhat interested, at least for now.

Was anyone else expecting LMAD to be higher? This is their first week, when a lot of people are trying them out. How low will they go once peole lose interest?

Yeah, I don't think Crystal Chappell just happened to be starting back at Days when the ratings spiked above 3 million for a week. It's more than a coincidence.

Also, yeah, that Thursday spike for ATWT wasn't random either. Clearly people wanted to watch the aftermath of the Wednesday cliffhanger, which was Lily dropping the flowers in slow motion as she saw Holden. Too bad it was not sustained. And I don't know what this means for the direction of the Holden/Lily/Damian storyline. What's gonna get the ratings?

I don't know what ATWT can do. I hate to see another classic soap go, and it really has been decent lately, but that may not be enough.

I'm still surprised to see GH, the crown jewel of ABC Daytime, sinking further. Yet they keep on throwing more money at it. The more money GH loses the stronger its chances of survival seem to be. They have moved slightly away from the awful Sonny and Jason worship, but a lot of viewers may not care about going back.

Forgive me for my rudeness, but there seems to be such a double standard towards how GL fans are able to treat LMAD when compared to how AW fans were allowed to treat Passions. Specifically, the attitude around here is that it is OK for people to hate LMAD for replacing GL since LMAD is not a soap. On the other hand, since AW was replaced by another soap (and, I don't even consider Passions to have been a true soap opera, by the way), everybody "should have" hoped that Passions was a success, because that would have been a "good thing" for the genre (never mind the fact that Passions happened to be complete garbage).

To clarify, I did not hate Passions upon arrival, but instead only hated it upon actually watching the show. Yet, it seems many GL fans abhorred LMAD before it even aired (just like many Passions fans detested the fourth hour of The Today Show prior to its debut). And, while AW's cancellation was ultimately due to low ratings (instead of being caused directly by Passions' conception), one has to remember that Passions came into existence prior to AW's demise, whereas CBS didn't even consider airing this LMAD revival until after GL was cancelled. (Thus making LMAD far less of a replacement for GL than Passions was for AW.)

So many soap fans seem to think that it was a travesty that PC, Passions, and GL were not replaced by another soap. But seriously, isn't that a better thing to happen as opposed to being replaced by a terrible "soap"? (And, if a new soap sucks, it certainly does not benefit the genre as a whole.) I'd be willing to wager that if you randomly selected 100 non-soap viewers, over 90 of them would say that this new LMAD is a better (or less awful) show than Passions (upon having watched episodes of both shows).
