I can still remember watching when they introduced Vicky meeting up with Jake and they start kissing and it was like what?!?  Had no idea that was coming.  A great soap opera surprise.  Does anyone remember if there were any hints or leaks that this was coming?  Or what storyline shockers really surprised you?

Would anyone care to speculate on why TPTB did not ask Carmen Duncan to use an American accent, while playing Iris?  It's not as if it cannot be done.  Barbara Bejer (an American) played Bridget with a Scottish accent for more years than Duncan was on the show. And Brian Murray (a South African, who normally spoke with a very noticeable South African accent) used an American accent while playing Dan Shearer in 1978-79.   So why not Duncan?

That was a great reveal because they kind of sort of played it as if it could be Marley uncharacteristically sneaking into Jake's room and took a couple of scenes before they confirmed that it was Marley's hitherto unsuspected sister. Perry's sudden death was also very shocking. I don't recall Marley's twin being hinted at in the press (obviously no casting announcements required) and it wasn't clear what Bridget and Jake were really up to beyond the fact that they were interested in Marley.

I liked the fact that they introduced the secret twin before Marley knew Donna was her mother, and that Victoria also had not known the full story but found out about the stableboy before Marley. I understand why they had Marley suddenly get sick and need bone marrow because it forced both Donna and Victoria to make quick decisions with high stakes, but the speed with which they went from Perry's funeral to Marley's illness was staggering.

I've thought that it may have had to do with Joy Bell's Caroline Stafford, who arrived about a month before Iris' return. My guess is that Lemay planned to reveal that Iris had been living in Australia and that Caroline was her daughter. Evan (Bates) Frame was lovers with both Iris and Caroline, so there was potential there for a juicy triangle.

I wondered if TPTB didn't mind her having some of that Alexis Colby elan.

I recall @DRW50 suggesting that Carmen may have read for Caroline and was later reconsidered for Iris.

Which run are we talking about, Bev's or Carmen's? If it's the former, I've heard it said that the Iris and Alex Wheeler storyline wasn't that great (wasn't it intended as TEXAS' initial marquee storyline?). If it's the latter, @j swift was talking not too long ago about the oddity of Iris falling for everyday kinda guy Hank Kent (which I think was her last story before the mess with Carl).

I enjoyed their individual scenes with other characters before they all came together at the Pub to commiserate over their relationships with Sami. I thought that was broken down pretty well. I just wish it had gone on a little longer. And I actually found it kinda funny too lol it seemed more mature than what we're used to. That's the kind of humor that should be on a soap. But I'm not really sure about all this talk of Dante Vitali and Sami's engagement though, especially since it doesn't look like Ali Sweeney is coming back anytime soon. What's the point of it all if we're (probably) not going to see it? It also looked like today was the first round of Brady vs. Xander as well lol I enjoyed their fight, and I'm interested in seeing this storyline play out. Even though I'm sure that Sarah will ultimately go back to Xander in the end, I'd like to see what happens along the way, and how they and everyone around them are affected by this. Btw, Theo and Jada? Idk. I still think he had the most chemistry with Arianna. And he was a bit of a dick too. It also seemed a little out of character for Jada for her to be so OK with him being such a dick  And though Alex and Stephanie were very boring again and need much better conflict than this book stuff, I am interested in the mystery of who's targeting Alex.  And yeah, I know this is a nitpick, but why is the Square still open after the gala? Isn't it supposed to be really late at night?
    • In fairness, Hillary and Bob Woods were thick as thieves again at least by the end of OLTL. But both she and I believe Mark Derwin not so subtly dissed Kale Browne in the oral history, lol.

    • Frat Boy Jr.'s reaction to seeing Luna was just awful acting. It was so bad that I started laughing.

Does anyone have screenshots of it?
    • Geez, I hadn't heard that Doctors story. HBS really did go through it.
    • No offense to the actors involved, but dear God in heaven: I don't know HOW viewers managed to get through that storyline with Maggie, Frank, Cal and baby Jill without running into oncoming traffic.  Then, to make matters worse, they dragged poor Diana into the mess!  I don't care WHO gets that damn baby!  Just wrap it up and move ON already!
    • Poor HBS.  To have to put up with Stephen Burleigh, who stuck his knee between her legs while rehearsing a love scene on THE DOCTORS, then told the director that's what he did with his wife; Kincaid, who had more hair on his chest and upper lip than Koko the Gorilla; Kale Browne, who taped his lines all over the OLTL studio floor, because he couldn't ever be bothered to [!@#$%^&*] memorize them; and Robert S. Woods, who apparently thought it was still 1979 and that he was still smolderingly sexy, so why should Bo Buchanan be stuck being in a happy marriage with Nora?  After all that, no wonder she jumped at the chance to play a lesbian on VENICE, lol.
    • @Maxim Thank you for the mini-review and clip from several pages ago. I appreciate you using the Bo/Alex clip as them meeting again by this point was a real surprise to me. The scene has some layers, getting a glimpse of Alex genuinely wanting the best for Bo rather than gloating. I was disappointed it ended with Tina dragging her out of the room for some much less interesting sparring (I did enjoy Alex pointing out just how quickly Tina got over Cord).
