The Town Hall was the toughest grilling Trump has ever received, and he was shook. Shook because the media, including the so-called 'liberal' media, have been pulling their punches with him for +6 years. Fearful of getting shut out, of losing their access, they have become poodles at DT's feet. The people at this Town Hall, in the other hand, held Trump's feet to the fire.

I wish I could say it was great to see democracy in action, but seeing proof (if any were needed) that our news media is essentially bought and sold to this dictator-in-waiting was a depressing sight.

In the USA, National Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept 15 - Oct 15.

https://www.nps.gov/subjects/npscelebrates/hispanic-heritage-month.htm

  • Joe Biden gave a speech Sept 15 at an event in Kissimmee, Florida, to kick off Hispanic Heritage month.  Kissimmee is where many Puerto Ricans settled after Hurricane Maria.
  • He said he supports statehood for Puerto Rico.
  • He made campaign stops in a few other Florida cities, also.
  • Biden sat down for an interview with Jose Diaz-Balart of Telemundo, his first one-on-one session with a national Spanish-language network since clinching the nomination.
  • Biden unveiled a plan to create a federal working group for Puerto Rico to help with recovery efforts and economic advancement.

Full report on his Kissimmee speech:

---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

On a side note, for the speech in Kissimmee ....
Before Biden spoke, the following people came to the podium to speak:
Osceola County commissioner Viviana Janer.

Congressman Darren Soto.
Ricky Martin.

Eva Longoria.
Then singer Luis Fonsi spoke. Luis Fonsi ended his remarks by introducing Biden.

Biden came out on stage and started his speech by playing Luis Fonsi's song "Despacito" on his phone.

There have been comments on social media saying Biden picked the song at random. But no it's not random.  He picked a hit song by Fonsi, the singer who introduced him.

There have been comments on social media and on the news, deriding Biden for playing a song whose lyrics are sexual. But he didn't play the whole song!  He played exactly 15 seconds and that's all. (You can time it from the video).

The full video of the introductory speakers plus Biden's speech is here:
https://www.c-span.org/video/?475778-1/joe-biden-speaks-hispanic-heritage-month-event-kissimmee-florida

Trump then twice retweeted a doctored video of Biden playing a song on his phone.

In the fake video, the song playing on the phone was "F*ck the Police" by N.W.A.

Twitter has now labeled the doctored video shared by @realDonaldTrump
 as "manipulated media".
However the whole doctored video shows and
the "manipulated media" label is only on the tweet frame,

The song on the phone is so unimportant,  we have tons of more important crises in the world to focus on!

Just mentioning it because of Trump's embrace of lies to get people to believe Biden hates police.

I see that Georgia governor Brian KKKemp is doing his part in aiding Trump in voter suppression. The University of Georgia is allowing tailgating and fans to attend football games at a limited capacity but there's going to be no early voting on campus due to COVID-19 concerns.

It's truly ridiculous how Obama and Biden keep getting blamed for [!@#$%^&*] long after leaving the WH.

Black women were the first to call him out for what he was and still is: a con artist.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.
    • Emmerdale shares most nominations for the British Soap Awards with EastEnders, 13 each.

    • The Dallas finale was the highest-rated episode since October 9, 1987 (Gone with the Wind). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of Murder, She Wrote was October 23, 1987 (Tough Love). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of The Cosby Show was February 22, 1985 (Shattered Dreams).
